An American flag being flown upside down is a signal of distress.. That is what it means...

Which is probably why they wanted it flown upside down...

Did you serve as well? If not then you don't have the right to call these veterans commie zombies. They've done alot more than you, sir.

The above poster is correct. The upside down flag is not a symbol of disrespect. It's a symbol of distress.

If that's what the commies had to tell them to get them to play along, then I'll accept that explanation, it means something far different to the anti americans. Next step is flag burning.

In that situation you would be right and I will join you in feeling a sense of disgust. There's only two explanations for a burned flag. Disposal of a tattered/damaged flag or disrespect...and it will be fairly easy to see that the flag wasn't damaged to begin with.

I kinda doubt the vets will burn their own flag, however.

That is really uncalled for, since most of these brave men and women put their lives on the live to express Freedom.

The Vet's are clearly distressed about what is transpiring in the USA, or they would not be protesting.

Calling Veterans "Commie's" is just trolling for emotional responses on ATS.

en.wikipedia.org...

For hundreds of years inverted national flags were commonly used as distress signals. However, some countries' flags are difficult (e.g. Spain, South Korea, the UK) or impossible (e.g. Japan) to determine whether they are inverted. Other countries have flags that are inverses of each other: the Polish flag is white on the top half and red on the bottom, while Indonesia's is just the opposite--which would again make it difficult to determine if the flag is being flown upside-down as a distress signal.

If a flag is available, distress may be indicated by tying a knot in it and then flying it upside-down, making it into a wheft.[1]

They won't have a choice once they all start chanting and a bullhorn tells them they have a consensus to do it.

No, what is uncalled for is the OP purposely left that detail out of the thread title and content.

So these vets had the balls to sign a piece of paper that said they'd take a bullet but they don't have the gumption to turn as one and walk out if some idgit with a bullhorn decides to burn a flag?

Riiiiiight.

The flag will still burn and the commies will still use their attendance as propaganda for the day, regardless if they walk out.

And im guessing your just fine, letting the nation fall in ruins. These people are actualy trying to do something, while you argue over their pruposes and goals over an online forum that meens nothing. This movement will go down in history, while your name flies in the wind with the dust.

and it matters why? flying the flag upside down is just as much a sign of respect as if it were right side up...didn't you take a look around during 9/11? I saw many flags flying upside down...doesn't mean they're going to burn them either...you're just making the false assumption that anybody at the OWS is an extremist who hates his country...these are vets...and deserve at least a modicum of respect...because they've respected their country to the fullest...

Down in history?
Funniest thing I heard today.
The only thing these protests did was provide another job for the professional protesters.
All the usual suspects are present, it's a community organizers shriners convention.

One protest in DC Paved the way for African Americans to get equal rights. One protest made way for womens rights and the end to the war. This is Everywherre. Im not gonig to be told about a movement from someone who obviously has never been to one. Im writing this right now from the occupy Baltimore site. Yes some people here seem a bit communist, but who cares? We are all people fed up this bullsh*T two party corrupt system you call a government.

AAh,yes a group of war Veterans-they must be evil commies!
What crap!
Has anyone noticed how all these protesters have been label "commies"from day one?
Almost as though its a concerted effort by some group to marginalize the protesters, and make them look bad.
After all-they spent alot of money and decades brainwashing everyone to make them hate commies...Be a shame to waste it.

Seems like an organized tactic to me.

You better go check with the guy with the bulhorn and see if the people are chanting a consensus on that. Do they know you are posting on their behalf? You better go see if it's ok.
This protest shut down a Civil Rights Icon from being allowed to speak, who is a real veteran of protests so you guys have zero legitimacy.

I'm pretty sure when the civil rights protests were going on the useful idiots called them commies too. I guess everyone not willing to abide a rigged and corrupt political system must be a commie.

Zero legitimacy? Are you even on the internet? Do you not see the mass movement that is occurring in American consciousness? People all over the globe support the American protesters. THAT'S legitimate.

btw it's clear that you imagine yourself to be the arresting thug in the background of your avatar photo. TinfoilTP indeed mister sheeple herder. Too bad nobody's listening to you. Wipe your a$$ with that.

ps
You are hilarious if only because you believe that the "commies" are coming.
