from what I can see...if these people follow city curfew laws,,park hours etc,,, there would be no problems.
the smell of EXTREMISUM. .....IS STARTING TO STINK UP WHAT LITTLE FREEDOMSE STILL HAVE.

With all due respect, I think you may be confusing activism with extremism. If an Occupation group moves out of their declared occupation zone, starts kicking in plate glass windows and moves to occupy buildings, homes and stores THEN I agree with you completely. We are watching extremism and it's as bad as the problem we all want to change.

Staying beyond curfew or any OTHER civil ordinance where breaking it results in no lasting property damage or injury is precisely how this is SUPPOSED to work, right? I mean, writing our leaders is laughable naive these days. They laugh harder than we ought to at that thought.

Showing up to peacefully demonstrate at their offices gets you arrested...and Pelosi did it as well as a couple well known republicans. That isn't a party thing, it's an Us vs Them thing and we're the "them" in that situation. So.....If not peaceful and harmless civil resistance, then what and when?

We're about out of options and we ARE out of time. Our nation is one step from collapse on more than one level. I ask again....If not now, when?

Very true, I don't think that many of these kids really know why they're up their, not as a group. Sure, they all have their own individual theories of just why everyone has assembled, but do they have any clear reason as to why so many people have organized? It sure as hell ain't to bring down the corporations, or at least I hope not, because most of them look to be my age and I don't know that my generation could live without our technology and the conviences it provides. I grew up on a farm and I know I'd still have a hard time making my way in life if I couldn't pick up a meal at the nearest set of golden arches.

maybe you, like some others, should read the thread, or watch the live stream before you come around with some criticism that has already been shut down..

the negativity of you people sitting comfortably in your living rooms RIGHT NOW is freakin appalling.

So let me get this straight. Your reply validates this persons statement. Why are you there?

In addition your living room comment is ridiculous. I travel 190 a day for work in a truck. There after 120 miles in a helicopter. 10 hours later of turning wrenches for you to keep your lights on....... I sleep for 5 hours just to go back and do it again. No complaints...... just providing for my 3 kids and wife.

Couldn't say it much better Third Eye..........cheers to you. Every protester I've heard via radio or quoted in text cannot explain their thoughts clearly. The rambling is ridiculous and when asked for answers, they have none...

my.mind.is.mine, I have a serious question when you get back to the thread here. What is being used out there for the live feeds in terms of the connection and equipment? I notice the degree of coverage or whether there is any coverage at all varies greatly from one camp to another across the nation. I'm sitting here wondering if there isn't some way that folks like me who have bins of surplus computer parts and misc gizmos of all types couldn't be of some help by passing some of that to the Occupations where it could be used to good effect?

I can't help but think that more reliable coverage which normal people could find of their own area/state occupations might go a long way toward encouraging folks to venture out and introduce themselves.

When winter hits here soon, everyone will be heading home to keep warm! I have asked 5 different people about OWS. Didn't get one definite answer. Friend said he was there, because that is where the party's at! Another also said there were some pretty hot chic’s hanging out! Am I the only one who can see the direction OWS is heading? It will eventually be hijacked! I cannot see the youngsters running the show now mature or organized enough to put this off, without another entity more organized to do so. I see a lot of wannabe journalist, but that’s about it! Just my opinion of course……

Sorry I was just trying to help with the kit bag, I've been in protests before and after seeing the cops beat folks bloody and haul them away for just speaking there mind, You learn to arm yourself. My experiences weren't ment to be toxic to anyone, so like I said if Ive offended anyone , sorry. But, if it does turn ugly, and you get tired of being beaten, then you might listen to individuals. Till then, have fun when the cops in riot gear wail into the innocent non-violant protestors and beat them to the ground. Get it on film, but be careful or they'll beat the one filming. No film no evidence. And if ive offended cops, well not all of you are bad, some of you just tend to be over worked and lose your tempers...

good luck to everyone

::wanders off cause whats the use of posting when no one listens::

I don't wish these people harm, but Atlanta will be very foolish if they send cops into this mess right now. Let things die down and people get on whatever they get high/drunk with and go to sleep, then roll this whole thing up just before dawn when everyone is bleary eyed and in a daze. No one gets hurt and squat camping a public park comes to an end.

I respect first amendment rights, but the rights of the protesters must also take into consideration the rights of the taxpayers who will have to cough up cleanup costs. No one can suggest these people will carry out their own trash and clean the area properly. Protest? Absolutely. Turn a public park into KOA? Sorry... That is where we part company.

Really??!! Trillions of dollars stolen by Central banks and financial organizations. Our economy on the brink of collapse. Everyone is going into debt to pay for a government out of control!! And you're worried about who is going to pick up the trash? Get your head out of the sand or wherever else it my be stuffed in and see that people are trying to effect change in as peaceful a way possible.

Actually, there are two important things to consider when looking at what I wrote there. First, my whole attitude toward Atlanta changed after watching several more hours of their group and having a few pieces of information clarified by the posts given by the OP on this thread.

Second though, was the fact that when I wrote that, I was with everyone else watching live as Atlanta Police Department was staging a massive force (given the number they would have been hitting) to apparently stomp the protesters every bit as much as Boston DID get it a bit later the same night.

So.... I suppose in hindsight, my comments deserved your response. On the other hand, take what I said here along with it. As a matter of fact, the events of Boston and coming to understand the Atlanta group a bit better by observing their GA and overall situation by the live streaming...I may just be in Atlanta Saturday. I'm still debating which direction I'm going to spend some time at one of these...but thus far, Atlanta is looking like one of the most promising for an organized and well grounded group of folks to be around for a bit of time.

People can change...and mindsets can evolve with new facts or perspectives. In this case, I got a lot of both.

Hey i'm not bashing you, i watched the video and kept up with most of the thread, i couldn't find any info from any of it, i'm just asking a question and stating my opinion. The video looked like everyone was still in the park and only part one still.

So to clarify everyone moved to the sidewalk?

Also i wouldn't call anyone a do nothing, as i can see, in all these occupy events people are literally doing nothing, at least you on the other hand are broadcasting what's going on, and i'm proud you are doing so.

I was at Occupy DC, i drove hours out of my way to do so, and was just greated by a few idiots not knowing why they were there. I'd ask them why, most of all of them give the same response, "to stand up against corporate greed." Well you are all there, do something about it. I went to DC planning to get arrested, but evidently everyone else up there would rather be able to go back to the comfort of their own homes that put their lives at state, and i think that's wrong. If you want to stand for a cause, you should be willing to loose it all for it.

Edit -
Just caught up, bout to watch video 2.

Edit 2 -
So i watched the other video. About the same. Seriously though whats the deal with people repeating? What are the people just saying, "HEY EVERYONE REPEAT WHAT I SAY!" Talk about following the pack.

Why are people screaming at the police? I didn't know the police were the enemy, the police are doing their job, if they do that again, i beg of you to talk some sense into the crowd, if the police get out of line sure, but they are just doing their jobs, the police are not the enemy. The Fed is the enemy, the bankers are the enemy, the global elite is the enemy.

as was explained earlier in the thread, the repetition is a system called the "peoples mic". if you haven't noticed, it's over 500 people there, and no microphone... I think the rest is self explanatory. The concept came from the original wall street group who were not allowed mics or megaphones.

I can talk to the guy who runs the live stream. He's simply using a cheap netbook and a webcam with a metro pcs air card. you might wanna contact each individual camp. i'm sure some people could use more equipment.

repost frm page 11 since people don't wanna check themselves...

the overall understanding down here in ATL is: screw your budget cuts on education, end the fed, end corporate greed, end the corporate choke hold on our government, bring charges against those who gave bonuses using bailouts, end the wars, tax the rich more, and actually put those billions spent on war into this countries infrastructure. when you put money into building bridges, roads, and possibly bringing some industry back into this country, you put millions back to work.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. My apologies for the caustic reply to the last post. I guess my ire was up from going through a few threads where posters of the fox news/rush limbaugh ilk were criticizing the demonstrators for not knowing what they were protesting about, no clear message, nothing will change, etc... Everyone is at different levels of awareness and our views will always be shaped by our experience and unfortunately the drivel that is spewed by the corporate media. Those people do not even recognize that en masse people are starting to awaken. They would disparage the movement as a "communist/socialist" plot. While I admit, there will be organizations in power and that want to maintain that power, who will try to channel this energy to their own purposes. Only time will tell if the OWP people will recognize this and refuse to be herded. But I won't denigrate the fact that America is starting to realize we are being led and controlled for the benefit of a few and not for the progress of humanity. Its a shame that the loudest voices in all of this are generally part of the problem and not interested in real fundamental change.
