And, when the episode was due to air with the government coverup excuses on the rocket that launched by Sophia's son, the show was abruptly pulled. When they resumed in March, it was obvious as to "why". The excuses they used (which were filmed long before their original air date) were the exact same excuses the government used with the missile filed off the coast of California last year. No, I don't think it's far fetched for the government to muddy the waters between truth and fiction.

A classic example would be the Wormhole X-Treme episode on Stargate SG-1. Pretty much sums it up.
