There is such thing as a non-violent revolution:

en.wikipedia.org...

I won't quote the page here, but in summary, a significant percentage of the populations of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania assembled in various places to sing national songs (that were disallowed by the Soviets at the time). This led, after a few years, to their independence from Soviet Russia. This happened in the late 80s and early 90s.

I think they key here is that enough people were involved to make a difference. In Estonia's case, it looks like the movement was initially started with 300,000 people, which if you look at the population figures for those years, is roughly 20%. Given the 2010 population figure of the US to be just over 300 million, we'd be talking about 60 million people doing this!

I discovered a little gem this morning. A little proof of Occupy Philadelphia's "non-political leanings".

This is their schedule of events for today.

09:00 am - Breakfast/Yoga
10:00 am - Yoga
12:00 pm - General Assembly
01:00 pm - Lunch
03:00 pm - Education - "Vacant Lot" (Library)
04:00 pm - Facilitation Training (15th/JFK)
04:30 pm - Eduation - "Intro to Anarchy"
05:00 pm - Facilitation Meeting (15th/JFK) - Process Meeting
06:00 pm - Infrastructure Meeting - Forum with Paul Gloves
06:30 pm - Eco-Socialism (Library)
07:00 pm - General Assembly
08:00 pm - Marcuse Reading Group (Library)
09:00 pm - Comfort Distributing Sleeping Gear - Facilitator Training
- Tout Va Bien Film Discussion
11:00 pm - Art Meeting

What is on the agenda for today?
Well first we have Introduction to Anarchy.
Then we have Education on Eco-Socialism.
And then we have discussion of the gravely Marxist film "Tout Va Bien".

I asked where the education on the Constitution or the free market were, and so far, I haven't had much response, just a few people saying that socialism isn't taught here so it needs to be heard.

Just another 3 nails in the coffin for this useless movement.

I would say it's a good start. I would guess to say that the protesters are using "Wall Street" as a symbol of what America has come too be known... Greedy. Weather it's government or corporate corruption it all comes down to money and GREED. Our politicians take money from corporations to push their agendas and policies while they sit back and rake in the money. I don't think Wall Street is entirely at fault. Our "elected" officials have allowed this to happen so they can get that campaign money for the next election. The whole system needs to be fixed.

1) Ban corporate lobbying.
2) Close the tax loopholes that allow corporations to pay next to nothing in taxes.
3) Penalize corporations that send our jobs overseas.
4) Fix the trade deficits with other countries.
5) And stop the BS with "to big to fail"... let them. If they can't make sound business decisions, they should go bankrupt.

what about union lobbying? other than that this is exactly the right message to start.
there is too much wrong with the country and system to say it in just 5 listed items.
Health care, entitlement mentality, get Hollywood out of politics and on and on it's heaven and Hell.the entire "American way"needs a reboot.
but the OP is 100% correct, this isn't the revolution, but it could be if the Occupy movement would just focus itself.Right now TPTB are attempting to hijack the entire movement,it it wasn't theirs from the start, with people like Nancy Pelosi feigning sympathy nd throwing celebrities like Kanye west and Mike Myers into the masses.
I was listening to Mark Allen .or who ever it was subbing for Rush, yesterday and he said it correctly that by Christmas this thing will have fizzled and be forgotten in the mad retail rush of the Holidays.

I remember when the Soviet Union collapsed and think we can expect to see similar events here eventually. Of course I don't expect it to be exact as our governments are quite different. I don't think its possible for true freedom or justice to exist on this planet without some type of evolution in Humanity, Jesus returning or Alien intervention. We just don't appear to have what it takes. I think we'll see some names change but the Bankers will still run the show.

I was pretty fired up when this OWS first started but the more I've learned the less hope I have for any change I would consider positive. Christ, BoA still has customers! If that Corporation can continue to function after all the crap they've been involved in. If people can't know or motivate themselves to move their checking accounts to a different company for the good of the world, I doubt anything lasting can be accomplished to change our current paradigm.

Maybe thats ok. I've learned alot over the years and I don't think I could have without the ignorant and painful choices I made, good judgement comes from bad judgement. It seems by the time we understand how and why things are jacked up here, we're dying and making room for a new generation to start the process over.

One thing I would like to add, Hang up and drive!!! God I hate cell phones. I've been run off the road three times in the past month because some tool was texting or talking while driving. It almost makes me happy to know your generation is screwed when I see your addiction to those POS. lol

Actually George Bush and Barrack Obama have a lot of similarities, ofcourse Bush was much more violent in his decision making, however Obama will try to enslave millions within FEMA's so-called "Prolonged Detention Centers", but we all know what Obama is really up to, so really they are one in the same and I would say that neither of them are right about anything

There is no clear UNIFYING agenda at the core of OWS. It WILL FAIL and the the ignorant WILL, once again, vote for the very person who gave all that money to Wall Street...

...and sadly, all those protestors will walk away with some sort of feeling of accomplishment...what a joke...

We need a nationwide stike - all industries, all people.

Shut it down, shut it all down, right before the Christmas season.

I really don't understand you Americans. You go on and on about taking down the fed, the Governments and all other manner of mis-haps but when someone actually does something about it, you moan and complain that this isn't what we wanted blah blah blah.

Are you really that scared of change?

ALS

Well if you look into the movement more you will see that this is not about making the us a better.
They don't have any solutions only to take out the free market in america.
Its just a democratic answer to the tea party.
More right left bull.

And what do you expect to eat when everyone stays home? Where will you get your water? How will YOU stay warm?

Once again, revolution without a clear objective is chaos... When will people learn?... (sigh)

Quite literally wahh!!! all summed up into words...I say give em hell what have they got to lose by doing it? What if this gets the ball rolling to get all this S*** sorted and all they need is peoples like you to SUPPORT them and help them figure out where to aim the beast at. But no all you wanna do is ridicule, the thing is you don't know what kind of truths may be driving these people and you shouldnt try to strip it from em just sayin man it doesn't have to be violent and it at the same time I wouldn't call it full on just yet...

If this were truly a revolution, it would not be supported by George Soros, Obama, Ben Bernancke, etc. Many of the protesters are passionate, angry and protesting whatever they're into. It's not the stuff real change is made of.

I really have to agree the OP, this is NOT the revolution. It's Cointelpro and being steered. Here's an article at Makow's site: Occupy Wall Street is COINTELPRO (Phony Opposition) with links and references. It's a terrible feeling when your realities turn out to be fantasies ;-)

If and when the real revolution comes it will be bloody, these @ssclowns are not going to give up power or change the status quo without a REAL fight. What do you use to make real change rather than the crap Obummer spouts? Well, if you want to defeat "evil" you need firm direction, resolve, collective cohesiveness and of course a greater evil that can't be bought and paid for like politicians.

The only problem is, what do you do with the "greater evil" once the goals have been accomplished?

Cheers - Dave

I've gotten tired of OWS protestors and supporters claiming that this is now the "revolution" or "rEvolution" as they seem to refer to it. I suppose it is catchy to have the upper case "E" so that it incorporates "Evolution" into the equation. But I am here as the bearer of bad news - this whole thing - this mass protest, this isn't a revolution. This isn't even going to accomplish anything...

According to the Boston police department, 'Occupy' has been taken over by an anarchists group.

*shrugs*

Looks like 'Occupy' is about to come crashing down.

It already has accomplished something that has never been accomplished before. Something very positive.

If you dont know what that is then....well, i guess you'll create threads like this.
