Please read more about the movement and their principles before commenting... it really has nothing to do with communism.

You are correct. Unfortunately, I know from personal experience that the Common Purpose communist groups operating in the UK (SWP, WP, AWL et al) will jump onto it and steal it for their own goals.

we would probably try it in Australia, but if people think they could get the time off work they would head to the beach.
Not that we dont care about what is happening in the world, we are just so dumbed down with sports that unless a sporting celebrity was signing autographs there no one would turn up.

probably? i live in australia and i am fully intent on making this happen.
you're right though
if everyone goes
"oh well no one else cares so i won't do anything"
then nothing will ever change

come down. even if it just ends up being the two of us. which i guarantee it won't be.

I posted this news impartially but personally believe the Protests in the USA and elsewhere
are only doing good and highlighting the corrupt practise of Government that has gone on far
too long and has got well out of hand...

I know two words the Elite really fear right now!

With the collapse of the paper card finnancial system they have created with bubbles of
debt moved from private hands onto the tax payer in the guise of bailing out banks.
Thats why we now have tax payer owned banks .... they are vehicles to keep placing
toxic debt and the burden onto us away from the privately owned banks....

Anyway those two words are ; Bank Run..... the house of cards is tettering and they fear
the plug being pulled because its our hard earned money keeping their life raft afloat
right now ....

Pull the plug by trying to keep minimal or zero funds for them to access in your accounts

I was referring to the UK, not your backwater colony. Your sarcasm fails because you wouldn't know about UK grassroots campaigns.

No, that is the perfect way to show your dissent.. stick two fingers up at the establishment and go off down the beach for some fun.. after all dissenting is in the Aussie genes

The last time Britain was in the grips of a similar economic depression that married civil unrest and demands for political reform the dissenters where bundled down under.

As for the topic at hand... can't see this ever being peaceful in Britain.. tho the UKUncut have thus far been fun and peaceful.. I love the ones where they ran colouring competitions in branches of Barclays bank and turned others into libraries.. I live the humour

okay
first, i wasn't being sarcastic. i think you may have missed a key point somewhere; this is a global movement, the likes of which have certainly not happened since i've been around. it's bigger than single countries and it's much much bigger than petty party divides.
secondly, how do you know anything about what i know and don't?
and third, backwater colony? i don't even have a response for that, where is the relevance?
are you just trying to be a jerk? you don't need to, you know.

This was yesterday with 2,000 people protesting on Westminster bridge. I think these smaller protests have less chance of turning violent, thousands in the stock exchange maybe a different matter

You don't think you were being sarcastic? Well, I suggest you read back.

This is no global movement, this is a few protests in the US, followed up by a few rentamob socialist protesters in the UK jumping on the bandwagon. In anycase, nothing will change. Peaceful protest solves nothing.

How do I know anything about what you do know and don't? Well it's quite simple really. If you knew what you were talking about you wouldn't have made the ignorant statements you made. In the UK, grassroot campaigns from local communities are always pounced on by Communist groups. A good example is the Anti Academies Alliance, this was a local campaign, then it got overrun with Communists which radically changed it. But you knew that, didn't you?

That is true, especially when the usual way the police respond to larger protests.. but UKuncut may have smaller protests they certainly make up for it in the number of protests they've maintained over the last year.

If sizeable numbers turn up I can't see the OWS in London being at all peaceful..

ETA: forgot to say
for the vid

I doubt the police will let them get anywhere near Paternoster Square

should i not know when i'm being sarcastic?
i can assure you one hundred percent that i was not.
i may use unusual phrasing
or humour
to make my point
but let's get this straight; the sentiment was pure and there was no sarcasm.

yes. this IS a global movement. i don't know off the top of my head how many countries i could get links from where occupations are already happening or being planned, but i am sure there would be more than a few. would you like me to try? or does the fact that a movement begun in america, inspired by the middle east, currently being discussed by us as far apart as aus and uk speak volumes to you, too?

small movement hijacking is, would you believe, not the invention nor sole property of the english
or your grassroots campaigns. which, let's be fair, can be hijacked by anyone at all, not just communists.
which may go some way to explaining our current predicament.
and hey
wanna know something?
if there are communists down there, and there will be
you're not going to stop them nefariously taking control and turning us all into evil red communizombies
by sitting on the internet calling everyone out for ignorance on irrelevant politics.
we're all in this together.

Hi there and welcome to ATS

I am looking forward to seeing the footage of the stock exchange protest.

Also, I am so glad that you decided to come and troll here because we are not ignorant enough for your words to have any effect. You are not going to change your opinion because you do not have one, you just counter any argument which is calling for change. This is a good indication that our message is getting out is effective. You also say things which make sure that more people become an active part of the movement because the thought that such ignorance is so pervasive is heartbreaking.

I am glad that people are coming together to fight this cause, I will be at Occupy Manchester on the 15th Oct. I will stand shoulder to shoulder with communists, humanists anyone who will fight to get rid of the system we have.
