Last I checked, prostitutes are so on their own free will. What you're thinking of are hoes, in some dirty areas around major cities - who have pimps that collect their money. And even so, plenty are because they wish to be.

Paying for sex != forcible rape (does not equal)

Prostitution has been around for thousands of years and doesn't appear to be ending anytime soon. Yes, I do feel sorry for the women who are the victims in prostitution, but some women just love sex and/or money. For example, isn't a woman who marries a man that she doesn't love just for wealth and possessions a prostitute? Or women who has sex with just about anyone to keep having babies for child support checks. Although these women are not on street corners, they are still providing sex for financial gain just as a prostitute would. At least prostitutes are honest about the arrangment and don't make promisses of love, faithfulness, etc. I think women have the right to be straight-forward prostitutes and if guys want to pay them for it, that is their choice.

I see that those of you who support prostitution haven't got a leg to stand on in this debate. I'd also bet my money that none of you have relatives or immediate family who are prostitutes, like a daughter for example. maybe thinking about it from a fathers perspective would influence your opinion.
