Maybe sex isn't some dirty, ugly thing no matter what ridiculous belief system you've been indoctrinated into.

It's people with your mindset that treat sex as if it's something dirty...as if it's a mere commodity that shallow, materialistic women sell to disgusting, low-life men. No value there.

Wow, your response sounds so much like an emotional outburst brought on by some past traumatic experience that I don't even know where to start. What axe are you grinding tonight?

A lot of women who turn to prostitution have been abused as kids.

A lot of women who turn to prostitution are desperately trying to support their kids.

I believe that most women who are prostitutes have not chosen that - they have had to turn to it.

We should not judge people who have been damaged - we should help them.

I am not saying all prostitutes are damaged people. But whatever, it is no one's right to put anyone else down.

i dont see why this has to be a bad thing
perhaps its a natural coping mechanism?
maybe they are just trying to express the emotions they have from such abuse
to me i would see it as them trying to show their freedom in sexual choices..and having control is a good thing for people who have been abused

Sex trafficing and sex slavery are despicable crimes which we all should want stamped out. We must all surely agree on that?

Women who chose prostitution as a career are a completely diferent subject. Lets not mix the two up. They have good lives and make good money.

There are of cousre those women who through drugs or bad life choices get trapped in destirution and try to use prostitution as a way to earn cash. This then traps them too. This also a completely different subject, but also something anyone with a heart would want to try to put an end to.

There are also college girls who increasingly these days (I read a news report on it a few months ago. Can't remember where) use occasional prostitution to pay their way through college. Another completely diferent subject.

Perhaps it is best to keep these things seperate. And also decide if it is prostitution per se that you oppose, or just one or more of the dozens of different types of people who do this. Including men for men, and men for women prostitution. What about porn? Women who have sex for cash, but on film - is that not also a form of prostitution? It is a wider subject then your OP suggests, and the largest part of it is does not include the illegal trafficing of people.

Are you saying prostitution is just a substitute for rape? Women don't exist solely to cater to the sexual needs of men.

I think you missed my point....there are many reasons that a man cannot find a sexual partner without paying for it, and there are many women who enjoy being payed for it.

My point is: if the service is there it would aleviate the need for some men to find ways of forcing themselves on women that don't want them.

And I hate to burst your bubble, but some women are quite happy to exist to solely cater to the sexual needs of men. Thats why they become prostitutes.

Prostitution, voluntary that is, was widespread in all ancient cultures, including Egypt and Rome. Many noble Roman women would spend a year as a state prostitute, at one of the temples and was considered an honourable duty.

Without prostitution, I feel that sexual attacks against women would rise. It acts as an essential service, in so much that some men cannot engage in a normal relationship with a woman and needs to find release in other ways. If he pays a woman who is willing to give him comfort, even just for a few minutes, it may save a poor innocent soul from being forced into the act.

The sexual energy is not wasted. It is still expended in the normal way, and the man is left fulfilled and the woman a little richer. As long as both parties are willing, where is the problem?

I have had this conversation on more than one occasion at gatherings with friends. My wife and I are on the same wavelength with this one.

I think it should be totally legalised, but monitored in order to keep it healthy and out of the hands of the criminal elements.

Edit: In addition, there is a rising number of male protitutes available for women too. Business women on trips often make use of these services. I saw a very informative docu. on TV a few years ago that covered this topic. It was certainly an eye opener for me.

No traumatic experiences for me. Perhaps you have had one or a few due to your cheapened view of sex.

the 'science' in that pdf is specualtion..like most things in the pyschology field
and im sure for some people that is the case, but
it makes sense to me that they are just taking advantage of the sexual freedom they are free to.
control is power and vice versa
they are taking control of what is theirs

I have to sit alone in an office all day designing circuit boards to support my family. Very stressful. Mentally tortuous.

I have not chosen this career. But unfortunately I can't make a living giving sex to beautiful women all day.

It's not fair. But I have accepted that I have what it takes to do what I do and I'm willing to provide that service because it pays and I'm ok with exploiting myself that way.

Dont know about that.......Theres research that went into it,not speculation. You can find it all over the net.

"Previous research indicates that women who were sexually abused as children are more likely to become involved in prostitution and to experience criminal victimization. A sample of 40 adolescent runaways and a sample of 95 homeless women were studied to test direct and indirect models of the impact of early sexual abuse on prostitution and victimization. The results suggest that early sexual abuse increases the probability of involvement in prostitution irrespective of any influence exerted through factors such as running away from home, substance abuse, and other deviant activities. In contrast, the findings indicate that early sexual abuse only indirectly affects the chances of victimization by increasing the likelihood of a life-style based on participation in risky activities and events."

Yeah...and that's probably his fault.

No man 'needs' to force himself on anyone, even if he can't find a sex partner. Stop treating adults like helpless animals. The more it is accepted that women are viewed as mere sex objects, the more rape will be seen as justified. Legalized prostitution will not decrease rape and sexual violence.

And I hate to burst your bubble, but some women are quite happy to exist to solely cater to the sexual needs of men. Thats why they become prostitutes.

Yes, and that stems from low self-worth.

If I take the sex without paying, is that rape or shoplifting?

Suppose, you win this political debate and that laws against prostitution are strengthened. All forms of prostitution are outlawed and the punishment for both sex worker and customer are made to be more harsh.

Does that solve the problems? Where do you go next? Will you try to outlaw pornography? Modeling ? Maybe we should outlaw short skirts. How about all women should just wear a Burka from head to toe and cover their faces?

Barbie doll in a burka

Would that solve the problems of child abuse, child molestation and sex slavery?

What's your views on women who get raped and become pregnant? Should they be allowed to have an abortion?

EDIT:
Is pornography prostitution? Is it ok as long as there is a camera filming it and they sell the video? Let's amke a law that all men who use the services of a sex worker must be filmed while engaging in the sexual acts.

It's his fault that he was born unattractive or without social skills? It's his fault that women in todays society won't accept a man who is below a certain level of handsome? It his fault that there is no rule book or other help for men that can't attract a woman?

Yes, and that stems from low self-worth.

Or maybe they just figured out that sex is fun and feels really good too! Simple.

You use a lot of negative words. Calling people bottom feeders because they aren't on the same page as you?

And when are women forced into submission? When is ANYONE forced into anything? We were born with the ability to create options and paths in our lives.

When are women RAPED for a FEE? Last time I checked, rapists didn't pay for their pleasure, they just took it for free.

Prostitutes don't get "forced" and they don't get "raped for a fee"
