Hmmmmmmm , that video definitely changed my mind about war and oppression. I am really liking Ron Paul as the leading presidential candidate in my mind. This video just strengthens my hope of Ron Paul.

Aw man, that would have been such a great video if it didn't end with a Ron Paul endorsement :/

Ron Paul smells like a rose when he's talking like this. Being against military adventurism is a no brainer, and to the credit of libertarians, they are staunchly anti-war. Great so far!

Paul also smells like a rose when it comes to the ridiculous drug laws. Haven't we learned from the failure of Prohibition?

But Ron Paul smells like death in respect to to his ideas about the need for small government, or more particularly, his resistance to sensible regulation of corporations, including Wall Street and the financial sector. These types of enterprise must be monitored and regulated, and it takes government to do so. Otherwise, we have the cancerous reality of today, in which money addicts and sociopaths are allowed almost free rein to indulge their toxic appetites.

As to The Fed, I'm not sure if it's quite the boogie man Paul claims, but yes, investigate the dang Fed!

It seems very fashionable to take the opposing view to whatever the evil US government is doing, sometimes without thought.

As I mentioned back on page 6 of this thread. What would you think would occur if the US removed all it's troops from foreign soil, closed all it's bases abroad?

What? We would live in peace and harmony? Really?

The US, UK, Israel, Russia, China and significant others are all greedy to get their fingers in the next pie. Thus far, the US and it's allies are winning this geopolitical chess game.

Every single day there is an intelligence war raging globally that we are not privy to with exception to the rare flare up that goes public.

There is a constant fight going on under our very noses, a fight for supremacy.

So, in light of this, do you really think the US has so much to gain from 'bowing out' of this, in exchange for opening new trade channels and gaining some international acclaim?

Do you really think that the true adversaries of NATO will stop playing the game out of good sportsmanship?

Whatever one side gives up, the other sides will surely welcome. As a result, you are now presenting a United States that is weaker, has far less influence and control. This would create a security issue that would invite attack.

The US projects it's power around the globe, for this morally questionable activity, it gains the respect of it's foes and therefore is seen as the last country on earth to directly confront.

That is the real security policy of any given premier super power. It has been the US in this role, it could quite easily be Russia, China, India and even the EU in the future.

The US, like all historical empires, will inevitably fall one day, but it must fight tooth and nail on a daily basis to ensure it's commanding position in this world and it will not go quietly.

In addition, when people talk about taking down the government, what will they expect? For Russia and China to throw their hands in and applaud the noble act? Or for the likes of Russia and China to 'finish the job'? Are you prepared to gamble the lives of your family on this outcome?

Regards, Skellon.

Say it loud and say it often.

On my planet (Earth), everything you just wrote is obvious.

Watching football, and it serves as an example: On the planet most other people here are from, they think, "If the Green Bay Packer defense just decides not to go out on the field, then the Atlanta Falcons will not even try to score."

S&F

I have heard this excuse before when dealing with Ron Paul on the issue of overseas bases. The excuse was accuracy and facts apparently didn't matter as long as the point was made.

I don't know how many you realize this but that is what we call propaganda, i.e. the distortion of truth in order to win over others to a cause.

I thought that voice at the end sounded like Ron Paul. It's pretty much true. The U.S. has turned into the 4th "Roman Empire", except were still missing that last component. A dictator with absolute power. Who will he be? I'm betting that whoever he is, he will be the anti-christ. It is coming folks. We get closer and closer to it everyday.

Isn't it obvious that the U.S. is conquering the middle east one nation at a time? Once Iraq got a taste of "freedom" all the other middle east nations fell for it hook, line, and sinker. We are not heading towards isolationism we are flying like a bat out of hell into expansionalism and just like the ancient Romans it is breaking our backs. We have 900 military bases world wide. Why do we need 900 military bases around the world? It seems to me that we would just be fine only having a handful for beacheads just in case WW3 does break out. One in Hawaii for the pacific, one in England for western Europe, one in Israel for the middle east and then one in Australia in some corner of an island thats not on the mainland and they wouldnt much care about renting out. Four bases is all we need to have a presence in the world incase TSHTF, we don't need 900. it costs us 3 trillion dollars a year to staff and equip all those bases. Thats 3 trillion dollars ayear we can knock off our debt.

True. There are thousands of fanatical Muslims who want to destroy us. The question is, how do we deal with this problem while NOT making the problem worse.

Most objective thinkers acknowledge that invading and occupying two midEast countries was counter productive to stopping terrorism. The invasions recruited more terrorists than we can kill, they stripped America of its moral authority, and cost American dearly in respect to blood and treasure.

A few thousand terrorists training in Afghanistan could have easily been destroyed via a concise police action with air support. We didn't HAVE to invade Afghanistan and stay for ten ridiculous years. Even more needless was the invasion of Iraq, the reasons for which were never convincing, reasons which have been long disproved.

In fact, these invasions are deeply immoral. All people of conscience ought to be outraged. The military actions say more about the corruption of the neo-cons and our oligarchs, than they do about any valid causes to invade a people that could not have hurt us, if our national defense was managed competently.

And as far as the video was concerned, I did not find it moving. In fact, that narrator was a bit comical.

Yah, except for the fact that you are supposed to keep the title the same if you are copying something from another site. So unless your opinion supersedes the T & C's, it doesn't hold water with anyone.

I have to say you provided a great video with a strong message. It is sad that so many that have commented are getting hung up on idiotic snags like saying it is stupid or even accuse you of trickery. What does it take to get these folks to remove the blinders and approach any new subject with an open mind and then, only after acquiring information, make an informed decision?
But I guess some feel their Earthly purpose is to try to dumb down everyone else.

Great work! Great video! Thank you for the contribution.

WOW that video is Great.
the UN is suppose to have the wright to do what the US troops are doing.
the American troops should NOT be doing this!

how would you feel if china was in all the counties america has invaded?
instead of us troops.
yes I know years ago china did this to Tibet.
but this is now. america is far more evil that china can be.
no! not the american people. they are just blind stupid.

Ron Paul knows how to play his game.

Yes we seldom hear the other side of the story of why we are fighting these wars.

And as it was in Vietnam, once we left, there was no more war ...

When we left Vietnam, we had forced the North to sign a ceasefire. After our stupid Congress passed legislation saying we couldn't go back if the ceasefire was broken, the North assaulted the South and by 1975, Saigon had fallen.

The North didn't stop there though. They kept going. Vietnam attacked Cambodia and then in 1978 they invaded and occupied Cambodia, an occupation lasting until 1989. That wasn't the end though.Vietnam began raids into Thailand.

In response the People's Republic of China launched an assault into Vietnam in Feb, 1979. It was a total failure and Chinese forces withdrew after losing thousands of troops.

The Vietnamese would continue fighting an insurgency in Cambodia for ten more years losing thousands of troops and killing thousands more Cambodians.

Without any clear victory, the Vietnamese pulled out of Cambodia in September of 1989.

Very well put, ArmchairPhilospher. I am amazed that after this long, there are still so many people who try to justify these two wars. It's a shame.

Sorry, where are my manners. I forgot to say thanks for the video.

By the way if this was to be a campaign ad for Iraq or many other countries in which the US Army occupies the word "imagine" doesn't even apply. This is their reality. This is exactly what we are doing on their own soil!! It is quite humorous. We are a bunch of hypocrites.

P.S. The Narrator SUCKED.

What a misleading title for your thread. You suckered people in with a misleading premise, just like.....Ron Paul !
He doesn't support a woman's right to reproductive choices. Is that LESS government? Is that freedom?
So, "Libertarians" support the government legislating morality. Give me a break. He's part of the system, and he's already in it, obviously.
It is correct that peace is good, and we can't afford the current military adventurism that's going on right now. We should bring our troops home, I agree, but Mr. Paul is just another wolf in sheep's clothing.
Give me a break...The "Occupy Wall Street" movement is organic, and represents real Americans who have genuine, legitimate concerns, even if they haven't gotten organized enough (yet) to put out a cohesive, solidifying message. Ron Paul wants to get into office, just like every other politician. If you think he truly has YOUR best interest in mind, then you've already been drinking the Kool-Aide.
