I was gonna add to this thread but it seems that my taste of rock would fall more into metal. But for what its worth

all that remains -the fall of ideals is an awesome album and all that remains is just a great band overall if your into that.

Yeah, i totally agree, some of those bands would have been called metal sometimes, but i suppose i'd go for defining them as Rock (at least Hard Rock) nowadays, compared to the contemporary Metal sound.
But labels are always by self definition. One mans Heavy Rock music is another mans Ambient Black Metal.

Hawkwind are fantastic though. It's a shame they're so unheard of, even here in the UK. They do a great live show, too
i know people that swear by hawkwind, who say they sound even more "spaced out" than pink floyd...hawkwinds first album came out in 1970...a very unique and original sound...

you can list metal, country, whatever you like, i could'nt list every musical genre in the thread headline...it would be too long

OK...this was actually pretty difficult for me. I had to leave out albums like Brothers in Arms, Ten and Street Survivors. I had to keep reminding myself that I wasn't listing the greatest of all time, just my favorite. But...to not show any favoritism, I didn't repeat any Band's albums either.

It wasn't easy putting them in any order either..lol. So here are my favorites! Finally in order.

10. Bat Out of Hell

9. Perfect Strangers

8. Pyromania

7. Blizzard of Ozz

6. Exile on Main Street

5. Back in Black

4. Master of Puppets

3. 2112

2. Dark Side of the Moon

1. Hotel California

I'm also not very good at following directions either. So I am posting 12 instead of 10. The last 2 are 2 live albums that I think define some of my favorite artists careers, who didn't always have that 1 album that stood out in my mind. So here are my top 2 live albums in no particular order:

A Little South of Sanity

One More Car, One More Rider

I've never been a buyer of records. More a borrower. Great ones mentioned here already though. Rush - 2112, Farewell to Kings, Permanent Waves, Hemispheres, AC/DC- Back in Black, Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers, Meat Loaf- Bat out of Hell, Gene Pitney's Greatest Hits

Nice to see Perfect Strangers getting the love. DP was one of the few 70's bands that didn't suck in the 80's. And it's got Wasted Sunsets:

That will play at my funeral. Hopefully many decades from now.

Funny, that with all the votes for DSOTM, I put that on just before I found this thread.

Just for the sake of the album titles, I nominate:

Hawkwind's Doremi Fasol Latido and Bring Me the Head of Yuri Gagarin.

I love this song. 2:40 is AWESOME.
Went to see them at Knepworth in 1985 I think. They were late but worth it. I left my boots in the mud and came home to Scotland in my socks.

Rock in Rio may be the greatest live-album ever made.
