i figured asking for a top -10 list of albums, might be a little too long for this thread and if i asked for just 1 or 2 favorite albums, that might seem not enough and too hard to choose. so i went for the middle ground and decided on letting you decide... "what are your favorite rock albums ever made" ?

the ones you would take to a deserted island. the ones you never get tired of listening to and always go out and buy replacements for. every time they wear out, break, get lost, or are permanently borrowed...

i have a lot of candidates...but some of my favorite rock albums are...and there are 10 of them...

"Love At First Sting" - 1984 - Scorpions ...best songs from it are..."still loving you" "big city nights" "coming home" "i'm leaving you" "rock you like a hurricane"

"Strange Days" -1967 - Doors ...best songs from it are..."your lost little girl" "i cant see your face in my mind" "when the musics over" "strange days" "moonlight drive"

"Led Zeppelin 4" -1971 - Led Zeppelin ...best songs from it are..."the battle of evermore" "stairway to heaven" "when the levee breaks" "four sticks" "black dog"

"Heaven And Hell" - 1980 - Black Sabbath ...best songs from it are..."lady evil" "die young" "neon knights" "heaven and hell" "children of the sea"

"Revolver" - 1966 - Beatles ...best songs from it are..."tomorrow never knows" "she said she said" "tax man" "eleanor rigby" "got to get you into my life"

"Destroyer" - 1976 - Kiss ...best songs from it are..."flaming youth" "detroit rock city" "god of thunder" "do you love me" "beth"

"Ghost In The Machine" -1982 - Police ...best songs from it are..."spirits in the material world" "every little thing she does is magic" "invisible sun" "secret journey" "darkness"

"War" - 1983 - U2 ...best songs from it are..."new years day" "seconds" "two hearts beat as one" "drowning man" "sunday bloody sunday"

"Dark Side Of The Moon" - 1973 - Pink Floyd ...best songs from it are..."time" "breathe" "money" "us and them"

"Under The Big Black Sun" - 1982 - X ...best songs from it are..."hungry wolf" "riding with mary" "dancing with tears in my eyes" "blue spark" "come back to me"

Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd) is #1 in my opinion. I have to agree with Back in Black (AC/DC) being near the top of that list. Rumours (Fleetwood Mac) is pretty good as well.

Accept "Balls to the Wall"
Annihilator "Carnival Diablos"
AC/DC "Back in Black"
Metallica "Black Album"
and believe it or not
Boston "More Than a Feeling"

The individual song Balls to the Wall is appropriate for all the "Occupy" events for real.

I've been a guitarist since 1971, so that sorta influences the music I like...

i changed the headline to this thread...it's still more or less the same thing. but me asking for a "certain amount" of favorite albums did'nt seem right anymore...putting down as many as you want is better...

very nice to see hawkwind in your list...a very underated band..imo...i guess there are some of what some people would call metal, in my list...like black sabbath and the scorpions and some people might not consider them metal at all but, hard rock...??? all modern music is "rock" to me, soft rock, hard rock, metal rock, whatever rock...they all rock in their own way...i had to headline this thread with something? and if i just put the word, album.some might have thought i meant, photo album? or if i wrote, cd's,some might think that i meant "only cd's"?... its all music...that rocks

This thread would really come "full-circle" if you read our suggestions, do some listening/research, and then list your "newly educated" Top 5 or Top 10 albums. Some of these, such a Aenema, Back in Black, Meddle, and Dark Side of the Moon will certainly require a full (preferably uninterrupted) listen-through to truly appreciate in all their glory.

Yeah, i totally agree, some of those bands would have been called metal sometimes, but i suppose i'd go for defining them as Rock (at least Hard Rock) nowadays, compared to the contemporary Metal sound.
But labels are always by self definition. One mans Heavy Rock music is another mans Ambient Black Metal.

Hawkwind are fantastic though. It's a shame they're so unheard of, even here in the UK. They do a great live show, too
