How many of you would pay a prostitute? Or vote to make prostitution legal?

maybe you could make prostitution legal only for those who are sterilized?

I dont think i would want anyone who is involved in sexual things for profit to parent a child.

Really? We don't need anymore restrictions. That only makes it worse remember? You may personally believe people who go to prostitutes should be sterilized but you shouldn't force that belief on others. You may believe in that but personally I believe in freedom.

Personally, I have never paid to have sex with a woman, and without wishing to exaggerate, have had lovely sexual encounters with more than I can honestly remember.

It's been my experience that there is absolutely no shortage of good, fine women who are looking to have an uncomplicated, pleasant sexual experience, without receiving money afterwards.

I can see that legislation would offer a deal of protection to certain women, although I really don't agree with women receiving money for sex, as I have witnessed 3 close friends sell themselves (following lap dancing careers) and become completely different people, incapable of having any meaningful interaction with men, unless there is some kind of financial reward. It broke my heart to see it happen but as the French say, C'est la vie! One positive thing it did, was to harden my own resolve to never pay for sex. It really does not help our society.

It's a messed up world for sure and if I'm honest, most men I know, have or do occasionally, use prostitutes. Maybe however, if men just started to treat women as equals and not objects to purchase, then as one previous poster said, there simply wouldn't be the demand, coz honestly, there is not a shortage out there.

And I would wonder how many women marry just for the finacial security and benefits for themselves and their children?

I also wonder what makes you think would automatically make an escort a poor mother?

I also wonder if you were so unattractive or lacked the social skill set to get a mate how long it would be before you offered to pay for a sexual experience.

I find it kind of appalling at the acceptance some here seem to have of these girls with deep rooted psychological issues selling themselves. It is their body and shouldn’t be illegal but it does not mean it should be deemed ok. I do not see how making prostitution a legitimate business helps these girls, the same things will go on and if anything it will make more girls to fall into the same line of selling. I personally think anyone who has ever paid for these services should be ashamed and reflect on how those girls got there. That post someone wrote about brothels paying for public road repairs etc is something so disgusting to put into words.

Selling your priceless body for money is a disgrace.
Paying money to use another’s body is also a disgrace.

Just my opinion.

i get what your saying but here is the thing, if it is not legalised it will continue just the way it is now. so everything you mention will still be happening but in worse circumstances and conditions.

I am back in the States now, but I lived in Moldova for the past 6 years. Prostitution there is technically illegal, however it is tolerated and openly advertised on certain internet sites within Moldova.

What I find so interesting about Moldova is that unlike here, there are virtually no sex crimes. School children from the first grade up can walk to school alone in perfect safety. I only heard of one rape the whole time I was there and that was of a young woman who went to a private rental sauna with the guy she was dating and he did not know what the word "nyet" meant. The capital city of about a million people is perfectly safe for anyone male or female to walk alone any time of the night or day. No muggings, assaults and murders are practically unheard of.

Is this partially because sex is available to anyone who wants it.. cheap?

I know someone who just once decided to try it... when he was between relationships...they suggested maybe two at the same time. He said sure why not... two young ladies showed up one 19, the other 20 both drop dead beautiful. Two hours and $35 later they left. He said it was a wonderful experience... but not his cup of tea.

I have always wondered why it is legal in this country for a woman to have an abortion but it is illegal for her to charge for the sex that could produce the child she is aborting. If the fetus inside of her is her body to do with as she chooses why isn't her vagina considered the same? It can't be a question of consent as the two adults consent to the financial part of the sexual encounter and the fetus obviously can't consent to being aborted.

What is the difference between a womb and a vagina when it comes to a woman's body being her own to do with as she chooses?

Legalizing it would be a major mistake. Few people are prostitutes by choice. They are either physically forced into it or economically forced to pay bills or for addictions.

Nor would it work. Any regulations would create an underground for what is legal. Meanwhile, poverty-stricken women, men and children would find it easier to sell their dignity... a cost no food is worth.

Most of prostitution is slavery. Legalizing it would just force sex workers over to different pimps.

It seems to always be about the money. Perfectly legal to have a new boyfriend every night... and sleep with all of them.. long as there is no exchange of money.

What they cannot tax for one reason or another... they make illegal.

It should be legal. I work close to an area where protitutes do their business in a small forest. It would be better for everyone to do it in a separated place ( like old unused barracks around the city ) with lights, bed, shower, some medical personel and guards(!) who protect the girls but also protect the customers from being robbed. This could be a great tax income for that area too.

In my country we have a law for years that forces the goverment to create red light districts but politicians dont really care. They are afraid of loosing voters and they always delay decisions. Police keep collecting the girsl however politicians are those who break the law.

Legalize it.
Regulate it.
Tax it.

I personally don't know if I'd pay for a prostitute but if I was feeling ambitious and had some cash to burn, why not? It's just sexual activity.

Isn't it a bit shameful you can't pay someone a penny for a rub down?

They might as well make it legal. It's been going on since the beginnings of time, and will go on until the end of time.

They've never been able to stop it and they never will.

They just keep wasting money trying to control it.

Yeah, who cares...go ahead and legalize it!

WARNING If I find out my hubby had a prostitute, he'd better be prepared for the associated costs of divorce

I personally would never entertain the idea of a male prostitute (creeps me out), it's way too easy for me as it is generally speaking, to "get it if I want it". Also, I doubt that my hubby would either (behind our closed doors he knows what's up
)...but you never know.

No harm, no foul for the rest of you gents and ladies. Go get your freak on by all means

I see no problem with making it legal. All that bible crap talk...is just that...CRAP

Finally a subject I know something about. I have paid to have sex with prostitutes many times, and am not embarrased to admit it. Granted they weren't the best encounters and never lived up to experiences with non-paid women but I don't think they were detrimental at all. I am all for legalized prostitution, because I can tell you now that my wife whores herself more to me than any street walker I ever met =)

Oh yes, it is worth it, otherwise they would not do it. I am sure you would sell your body for basic needs, too. If you want to help them, then make sure they do not need prostitution to get food. Banning prostitution so they starve instead is much more wrong than to let them sell their own body to get food.

I would say make it legal after a certain age, if an adult wants to make money from giving herself away or man, then it's their choice. The porn industry does the same thing and that is legal, the only difference is a adult film has a camera, take away the camera and its a prostitute, why isn't that illegal. If a police officer came up to two people in a car one paying for sex and he goes to take them in, then he flashes his camera out, the police officer goes ''oh im very sorry, this is an adult film, in the making'', no charge. strange huh!
