Here's some more Netherlands specific data.

www.sharedhope.org...

This doesn't sound fun at all.

BTW I am not picking on the Dutch, its just everyone assumes legal prostitution there is peachy and clean, therefore I think its a good subject to look at for this discussion. Just in my opinion.

Hun , I am the OP and I never said you or anyone for legalization was in any way wrong. I was simply shedding light on what prostitutes go through these days , and asking a legitimate question. Will making prostitution legal make a difference in the childhood market , or the amount of women that are abused from an early age and groomed for the market ? I could care less what two consenting adults do ...I was asking a social question ..and I believe you are legit in your opinion and haven't done anything wrong.

you might have a point there, but I still support legalising it.

The majority of STD's are transmitted via straight married males. The research is conclusive.

And I would have no issue with anyone who did support it. I am in the middle. If the people of a state in the majority support it then it should be there right to vote it into law. I don't have to agree with it morally. I just won't particpate in it and handle my affairs as I see fit as all should. Not my place to insist upon others so long as no harm is done to me. There are heaps of things to take into consideration though which is why a state should address those issues in the best interests of it's residents.

If there was not a need for pimps, they would not exist. If there was not a need for prostitutes, they would not exist. Just because you do not see the value, does not mean others do not. The ideal that Man should subdue his sexual desire is one that only exists in the illussion we have created. Behind closed doors and in the dark alleys of our society, those who advocate strongest against the carnal nature of man delight in their own forbidden pleasures. Cope with reality or do not, but the illusion is of your own making.

I hadn't realized until reading these threads just how many men on this site are 'pro-john'.
Of course most of them would be for legalization, that would make it so much easier for the 'johns'.

Why must it be "pro-john"? Why not pro- freedom to do what YOU want to do with YOUR life?

They would no longer have to worry about being stigmatized 'themselves', no need to worry about arrest, getting caught, catching a disease and of course the women would be servicing them because they just love and thoroughly enjoy having strange men entering their vaginas for money, so no guilt either.

Are you a prostitute? Have you ever been one? If so, do you believe that you can speak for ALL prostitutes?

Why not let those who DO enjoy it do it?

It is kind of shocking to see how many men here think of ALL women as prositutes. The level of antagonism and outright contempt for the female gender in general in some of these posts is mindboggleing.

I can't speak for all men here, but for me, I view ALL women as blessed virgins.

It leads me to at least suspect that the 'concern' for the rights and safety of prostitutes here could at least be a
bit of a cover for what is perhaps a more prominant subconscious concern, the rights of the 'john'.

Or as I said, the rights of individuals to interact with one another however they see fit.

With Love,

Your Brother

Who the heck needs sex so bad that they would pay for it...I mean really.

Who knows, who cares
A debate can be made about finding a non professional girl whom wants dinner, movies, presents, etc etc etc just to give it up...the difference is trivial

I have never paid for sex...yet I still get it on at least four or five times a week and I have no steady lady.. I cannot see who would be so desperate that you would need to pay for it.

Not sure if your boasting helps the topic at hand. erm..congratulations? Some people aren't as don juan as you it appears.

If your current partner doesn't do it for you then move on, you know what they...plenty of fish in the sea.
If you need freaky action there is always other people out there with same fetishes...just advertise..I hear that's how they find each other nowadays..or go to some type of party.

I don't disagree with you, but I don't see how trying to get into a relationship will satisfy a immediate urge...again, irrelevant to the topic at hand. (unless the topic at hand is how to judge a set of rules for all of humanity to adopt...and good luck with that if thats what it is)

I will never understand some of my colleagues who pay for this stuff...I mean, they make just as much money as I do..have nice houses, families and such..yet they pay for sex. I have a lady by my side...never paid for..(well maybe a few drinks..depends on where you meet) and I watch these fools shell out thousands of dollars for a night out with a beautiful woman. Then again they are rather unattractive, overweight..etc...., but with the money they make...they should be able to find some woman willing to sleep with them for free.

With the money they make...why? Do they promise the girls (directly or through innuendo) that prizes will be gained for nooky? See, you scorn prostitution on one hand, then justify it veiled on the other. Interesting irony you have managed to balance for yourself.

Ultimately, you don't understand..thats cool...you don't have to. I don't understand why people do things either, be it binge drinking, gambling, etc...but its their vice, it doesn't harm me or mine, so let them do what they enjoy doing so long as everyone is consenting..and thats really the root of the debate here...people telling other people what they can do in their own bedroom for fun.
