I use Ad Aware (and a few other progs)
SpyBot found a few things the others didn't
it also explains what is found with a link to where it is, and it is quicker than most, allthough not everything it finds is in need of being deleted. But can be put back in place if you do delete anything you shouldn't have.
I've only used it twice, so far without any probs.
I will keep using SpyBot as it is a very program (and free)

it's a lot better than ad-aware...
it found things i've been waiting to get rid of for ages.
and it has an update feature right inside the application, which ad-aware lacks adding onto its outdatedness.
the only problem i've encountered is that it freezes up from time to time... but as long as it gets the job done.

Yeah I have spybot too, it also blocks banners.
I didn't know why I couldn't see any banners anymore, I found out that the program forces your browser to look for the banners on your own machine. It of course can't find it there so you'll see a page cannot be found error.

I have both installed on my computer. You know to double check. Both programs are really good , but if I had to pick one I would choose AdAware.

Run advanced mode, and then go to "tools" and "Host file" For a few hundered different banner rotating programs it sets the destination address on 127.0.0.1 which is of course your own machine.

Anyway I didn't install the program, so maybe you need to enable the banner blocking option manually. I can DISable it, I tried but was unable to do so....

Their not that good for really going thru your registry. I've noticed loads of Ad-Aware still in my reg after running both of these progs. I think Ad-Aware should have a feature to delete all typed URLs that stay in your registry.

I have been useing it for awhile now also.

If you can't open your u2u's or other stuff. Just right click the hand icon, you'll see a check by "block pop up adds". Turn it off temp. open u2u and then turn it back on.
