It doesn't matter if you loved him or hated him, there's no doubting that as far as NFL owners go, Al Davis was one of a kind, a rebel if you will. He will be missed.

RIP Al

abcnews.go.com

Al Davis, the Hall of Fame owner of the Oakland Raiders known for his rebellious spirit, has died.

The team announced his death at age 82 on Saturday.

It was not immediately clear when and where he died.

It was Davis' willingness to buck the establishment that helped turn the NFL into THE establishment in sports — the most successful sports league in American history.

Al was a builder, in the NFL sense. The league and fans owe him a debt of gratitude. Raiders fans on the other hand..... well, he's in the same category as Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder. Couldn't leave his team alone and let the management handle the team.

To bad it wasn't Jerry Jones.

Atleast Al Davis didn't destroy his stadium. I'm willing to bet Jerry has it written to be buried underneath that oversize movie theater.

RIP Al Davis

As a Broncos fan, I loved to hate Al Davis. However, there is a soft spot for that man, because without him being who he was, the AFL would have eventually failed. He was a bigger a**hole than the NFL a**holes. Imagine how boring the NFL would be today if the merger would have never taken place! RIP Al Davis. You left your mark on the league, and you will never be forgotten. Go Broncos! Go AFL!
