I am not sure how many Floridians there are on ATS but if you are here you probably know what I am talking about. This crazy weather from an apparent tropical system south of Miami is bringing 35+ mph gusts all the way up here in the Jacksonville metro area. It really began on Wednesday but was not too bad, even Thursday was okay, but today the winds picked up considerably throwing lawn chairs around, knocked down some trees, and is reminiscent of a tropical storm.

The temperatures are pretty good around 75-80°F with rain that moves in with very strong winds then moves out in about 5-15 minutes. After that the strong winds stay though but not as bad. What worries me though is that the worst of the storm is not expected where I am until Monday so if it is already gale force wind gusts what will Monday bring?

Are you a native Floridian?

Just do not go swimming in the atlantic this weekend let this pass
the rip currents will be
terrible, and I would advise not boating out there either...

As far as tornadoes or a threat from them, none.

Could get flooding rains if this low that is south of miami
comes up through the state, but if it curves off the east coast of FL
into the atlantic will not get much of anything. the GRF model shows it going into the atlantic.
the WRF and European model has it coming up fl.

The GRF is the most accurate..
It will at most become a tropical disturbance
not even a tropical depression or storm,
Nothing to be alarmed about, just some wind and rain..
Will have to see where this low pressure system in the next day will go.
Were ok buddy.

I am a native Floridian and I know it is nothing serious like a tropical storm/hurricane but where I live in Florida we usually do not get this type of weather in October. Perhaps it is common in central/south Florida?

Were still in hurricane season technically.
Not quite out of the rainy season either..
No not really uncommon for central to south.

I google mapped : Ponte Vedra beach
your 2 hours north of me.

Like I said, I wouldn't go swimming this weekend
or boating because of high waves and rip currents.

It's been raining down here in Miami for about an hour or two and yeah its pretty breezy out :3 I'm not complaining though, it's a nice change from nasty annoying sweat inducing heat.

It is a sub-tropical type of system and is going to definitely hammer you guys with many many inches of rain and gusty winds. I've been following the models forecasting this.. looks like a sure thing.

Don't know if it will end up becoming a named sub-tropical storm or not, but it will be a very very wet few days for much of Florida.

I live in southeast GA [Waycross]

and, yeah, I agree the weather is kinda crazy.

These winds are pretty cool (cold) for an on shore wind. (also I'm a thin dude)

Seems like we've had gust higher than 35mph, but that's just my opinion.

I sure hope it's a mild winter. I'm tired of extreme, freeze then bake.
