Intrepid,

Unfortunately there is some truth to metaldemons words.

Part of my job is as a board member for a specific Trade Association. I can tell you flat out that the government HAS offered 'extras' to those of us that will hire female trade graduates regardless of performance.

But, there is method to the madness, so to speak.

It is not as sinister as people think. The government has been faced with a problem involving tradeswomen...not enough volunteer.

So the government asked women (high school) why they don't want to go to trade school, and a very large number responded with "because there are no other women there".

This left an interesting problem. How do you get women to go to trade school if one of the biggest reasons they won't go is because there are so few women at tradeschools?

Simple, you pay to fudge the numbers.

So far in Alberta it has been working. There are now much larger numbers of women enrolling in trade schools (with no under table deals), and this looks promising for future enrollments.

Those non-participating men were / are just hidden in other societies when their "jobs" are taken up by relative males and females.

The problem is not that there is not a place for men. It is that without women artificially reducing their capacity, many men are left thinking that they don't need to do squat.

Get back in the game. Be brave boys. Bother to engage. The women aren't that frightening.

I see where you are coming from and while I agree with that I disagree that it translates to the workforce. An employer isn't going to maintain an employee that can't or won't produce. Be they male or female. I also disagree that women are not capable of the work entailed as he pointed out.

We get part of the 'extras'.

Mostly in increased tax deductions hidden as 'donations' to said trade school, enough to at least offset the wages paid, usually a little higher to add incentive.

It is not something any of us on the Board are happy with, but we just don't see any other viable solutions.

Thankfully, it seems to be working well for my trade as there hasn't been a O/F tradeswoman in my trade for almost 3 years.

Some trades are still having issues.

Edit to add:

Pefromance of work is variable.

The ones that made it on their own perform substantially better than the O/F's.

Too be blunt, I wouldn't give a rats about my performance if my job was guranteed either, so I would really hesitate to use the O/F's as any kind of indicator for overall female trade performance.

This whole thing is direct backlash from the women's rights movement. Women now have the same employment and educational opportunities as men (unless you count all the grants, etc that are geared only towards women) so men don't have to do double duty to support a family, they can for once take it easy and enjoy life rather than putting in 60+ hours a week to keep food on the table and the bill collectors at bay. Couple that with the fact that men are often at a distinct disadvantage as far as marriage(see also: divorce) are concerned and its no surprise this kind of things is becoming an issue however the issue is not a negative one for us guys but for women because they no longer can find the kind of men they once did, now we enjoy more leisure and less work than our predecessors.

Why would I want to "Get off the video games five hours a day, get yourself together, get a challenging job and get married." when that will lead to a divorce in 3 to 5 where I lose my house, my vehicle, my kids and a percentage of every paycheck when I can kick back, load up a game and relax instead?

All by design, ladies and gentlemen! All by design. Don't trip....EVERYTHING is going according to 'their' plan. Destroy the FAMILY, is their goal! For those of you who "beg to differ".....look around you! It's too bad women can't see the BEAUTY of having a child....and be CONTENT! It used to be an HONOR and now, it's nothing more than...."see, i don't neeeeeeeeed a man"! Oh, how wrong you are!
Eventually, the tire is gonna go flat...then, we'll see, how much you don't neeeeeeed us!

Me... I just sit at home and read the obituaries. The list is LONG. So you political terrorists might want to rethink your terrorist strategies... m'kay??? Technology has finally caught up with you.

Are you painting men as such?

Could it have something to do with your attitude? Are you sure men are doing it?

Likewise.

O = offsite
F or M = female or male

It is used to designate a trades person that is employed, but off site, and in my trade that means hours that won't count towards your ticket, or any exteniosn of your ticket (ie: master, etc.).

These are trade specific, so I don't know what other trades use if they use anything at all.

You guys are doing a dandy job of painting yourselves. My attitude is why I'm still alive. Your attitude and criminal activities are the reason the rest of you schmucks are in the obits day after day after day.

As far as STRATEGY is concerned... blowing the whistle and informing the public instead of being controlled by fear is the best strategy out there.

Seriously, I don't mean this in any condescending way but you need to talk to a professional. Please do so. For yourself, not because of my words.

If he had not posted, the few of us who do not get this aspect would not have been made aware. Captain Obvious is a needed effort in this world.

I must be missing something.

I just went through my local papers obituaries:

11 Female
10 Male

Judging by the pics, all are elderly except for one female. Car accident for her.

My own wife proclaims that the womens rights movement has something to do with the decline in chivalry in men. I have to agree to a degree. I'm all for equal opportunities. But there are consequences and a alteration of balance.

It's like the women who dress provocatively and then complain when guys hit on her. I don't mean to sound negative towards women, I'm not, but these are just my thoughts.

the bigger issue here is that with the advent of video games, tv, movies etc etc, more men are concerned with getting high and watching porn than actually having a relationship with women.

and from the conspiracy stand point, it's all part of the plan to dumb us down. I'm a hypocrite because I am certainly a victim of this dumbing down.

You certainly are missing something.

How many of them did you know personally that died young by today's standards??? How many of them were stupid enough to engage in criminal activity??? And how many of them ever followed a directive and victimized you??? That's the difference between your local obits and ours.

I have a theory...

I think their COACH is covering his tracks.

That is the problem here. In law, the male is always the loser (losing the wife, the kids and the home all in one go). I am very conscious of this. I think men need to be a little more wise and cautious these days. Do some stuff for ourselves and do a little thinking above the waistline. In nature there is a hold on us through our physical desire for women. This is the grand conspiracy of nature and Creation. In this age where we are all so socially manipulated to be the ripe climate for control and generating profit for the controllers, we need to get one step ahead.

I will never put all my eggs in one basket ever again. Yes, long term relationship, but I am always gonna keep a little place of my own and make sure that if the SHTF then at least I have an escape pod. Seriously, I got bitten now two times shy. A wise man learns from his mistakes!

I'll just pretend I know what you're talking about. A job description (and where) one of these females might be performing that job would be helpful... and defining the term hours towards your ticket would also help.
