The Occupy Wall Street protest was duplicated as Occupy Dallas Thursday morning. Most protesters are fed up with some aspect of the economy. Hundreds marched from Pike Park near the American Airlines Center to the Federal Reserve Bank on Pearl Street in downtown.

"Everybody's voices need to be heard, not just the 1 percent. I mean, look at the diverse age group here -- so many people, so many people in the middle of the week. People want to be heard," said protester Jackie Griffith.

Protesters are fired up about many national issues, but they're engaging in peaceful protest. Leaders briefed the rest of the group before getting started. The group first gathered in the park to establish its main message -- that the people represent 99 percent, and the government is the 1 percent that has too much power. Protesters are airing their complaints about various issues, from the health care system to government bailouts for corporations to unemployment.

I'm actually quite 'amused' seeing some ATS members who suddenly loving the police. I heard the OWS protesters actually try to do this in Boston but it's not allowed, so instead they protest a little farther from the Boston Federal Reserve. But here's the bottom line, if they somehow choose to storm the Federal Reserve, the Capitol or the White House, will you still side with the police?

This is the MILLION dollar question: If the system 'collapses' or, turns to dust
, What system are you going to replace it with??? Do you have a BACK-UP plan? Or should i say, do the protesters have a back-up plan?

The ONLY way we are going to make it through this disaster, is by LOVING OUR NEIGHBOR. It's gonna have to take A LOT of sharing and caring, in order to come out of this collapse. People would have to dwell, side by side, in their tents...and share their very lives with each other...while coming up with a PLAN, together!!! Unfortunately, "their" plan, to divide and conquor, has been working for quite some time now; and quite effectively, i might add! So, unless people get out of their SEFISH, GREEDY ways.....we have SERIOUS problems ahead of us!

Occupy D.C. Protest Rallies Blocks From the White House

Although somehow I don't think the first lady take this seriously... yet.

First Lady Michelle Obama Shooting For Jumping Jack World Record

First Lady Michelle Obama will be doing jumping jacks on the South Lawn of the White House next Tuesday, in an attempt to set the record for most people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period. She'll be joined by hundreds of school children.

Yea whatever system George Soros and his minions like Obama want to make.

This movement is has been totally hijacked. First they were ignored by the media until Soros figured they were useful and now they get almost full media attention because Obama needs something for his reelection.

I'm a little confused here, are they complaining that they weren't getting enough attention and now they're getting too much? Would they be complaining if they only got one little blurb per day per station?

I give this protest another week before it's forgotten and everybody goes back to their everyday lives, talking about how awesome it was to belong to a large group of people standing in the middle of a street.

If you think its going to be forgotten about or die down within a week, you are mistaken. If the police backed of then maybe everything would quieten down. The Police are making things worse by attacking peaceful protestors. It is just going to become bigger.

Cant make it to Dallas today, but I just got back from a smaller protest at UNT in Denton. From what Im seeing on the occupydallas website, around 500-700 people have already shown up. It looks very peaceful to. Police helped halt traffic so the protesters could all cross the street, and they're helping out with water

These protest are increasing by scope because the heavy hitters have been recruited by MoveOn.org., Van Jones' new little club house group "The American Dream Movement" (part of moveon.org), SEIU, AFL-CIO, Teamsters and a bevy of other unions and Soros radical groups. They've got money and paid minions now backing this effort. The pockets are deep and their resources are plenty.

The astroturf has now been spread over the grassroots that were barely beginning to sprout. These protesters have no clue as to how they are being played right now. Chaos will soon take over and it will collapse under its own weight. The masses won't support it because the average American can't relate to the majority of these folks protesting.

I think the power players are just testing the waters right now to see just how many people they can get fired up. The big dance will come at election time if they can get enough people who are serious enough to participate without the need to rely on Big Labor Union Muscle.

This is only a test. A test of the system, the police, and the majority opinion. If they push too far they will not be please with the defeating results.

It looks like Alex Jones is calling for a federal reserve protest tomorrow in Dallas. I believe he is supposed to be there in person to.

Thread about it

ETA - A little update on the protests tonight. (From occupy dallas facebook page)

Our act of civil disobedience was interrupted by the County Sheriffs tonight. It was interrupted because instead of asking the protesters to leave, they gave them permission to stay. For one night only, you may go to the JFK memorial and sleep there without a permit and without getting arrested. What the hell are you people waiting for? I interviewed Det. Raul Reyes, the senior detective at the protest. Alex Wagner is now the new cameraman for Occupy Dallas and we'll have that video for you soon!

luke rudkowski of wearechange was arrested when he brought protesters from wallstreet to the NY Federal Reserve. I'd be willing to bet that $5,000,000 donation from JP Morgan to the NYPD helped enhance the police's decision making ability on this issue.

I've been taking a beating with my latest thread OWS DOA or Simply Misdirected? simply because I didn't quite follow the sheep mentality and acceptance over the disorganization of the OWS crowd misdirected focus on WS. Instead I advocated this very thing! Now they'll get some badly needed traction If they'd dump the vocal minority within the cause who are advocating the Socialism platform and Union participation we will have a home run!

I'll gladly give this news a big fat S & F!

I think you answered your own question. People already know what the backup system is because it's natural behavior for humans to barter and trade with one another. It takes like 5 minutes being in the field for military folk to start exploding the value of beef jerky and phone access way beyond paychecks and paper money. Money only has value if other people accept it. Food, water, shelter, physical labor, all these things have intrinsic value that needs no "plan" to recognize.

I've remained on the fence throughout this whole movement (many times tempted to ridicule); however, I have gotten behind "Occupy Dallas"...not because I live here; rather, because they are taking it to the correct entity.
-----------------------

Unrelated, but on topic....to those that say that the OWS has been hijacked...perhaps your prophecy will come to fruition; we shall see.

So long as the original organizers stay in the forefront (and take a learning lesson from the Tea Party's mistakes) and do not allow, nor invite political/celebrity shills to become the face of the movement, then this will be something different. So what if unions get behind the movement??? That is not an automatic "taint" on the spirit of the movement. So long as they are not the poster-child of the movement, then they are just faces in the crowd. I get the distinct feeling that this movement does not feel the need to invite the likes of Palin, et. al. to get attention....hell, they've already got the nations attention as I type. OWS has "legs"....wobbly they may be, but it has legs. Where it goes from here is up to them, up to us....you know, the 99%.
