You totally missed the point of my post.

I didn't blame them for our current problems. I am fearing for the future.

The CDC puts out statistical reports on mental illness. There are also other reports on psychiatric drug prescriptions occasionally in the media. The most recent reports have the majority of Americans on anti psychotic medications and suffering mental illness, with CDC projections showing an exponential increase in the near future. Other indicators are SAT and ACT scores, which have drastically fallen in recent times.

I don't know if its the water, the food, radiation, vaccinations, dysgenics, or some combination, but something is deeply affecting the youth in the US at rates far higher than the rest of the world.

It will create a majority dependent population unable to properly function in a civil society and at that point the whole social contract will collapse, leading to unrest and the rise of militants. It won't be the first time something like this has happened, which is why I brought up Marius and Sulla.

If you don't know who they are or how they apply to my response, I would highly suggest some reading on the collapse of the Roman Republic and rise of the Roman Empire.

Maybe I missed the point...
However, screw what the pharmaceutical industry driven psychiatric community has to say...human problems are no different today than ever before in history. This country's method of dealing with those problems is however different; treat the symptom, collect the money. It does a great job of hiding the incompetence and the truth.

Special interests are trying to hijack these protests. Since a lot
of people know something is wrong but don't know exactly how
they got there, it's easy to do.

At the moment the protests have no focus. It is all those angry with the state of things coming out to show just that. Eventually, if doesn't fizzle out, it will gain focus. If you want to call that "hijacking by special interests", fine. But focus doesn't emerge by everyone voting, because even to do that, someone with focus has to put forward something to vote on. Focus emerges by people with focus gaining support for their vision.

Rather than b*tch and moan about it, why not get out there and
educate them on the FED? There are others out there who are
doing it.

Won't that be "special interests hijacking the movement"? But yes, that is exactly what they need to do, if they want their agenda to be the agenda of the protesters.

This is only the beginning. This isn't about unions or socialism.
This is about people waking up and standing up for themselves,
their kids, their country. Most people don't know what to do.
But at least OWS is doing something.

Exactly. Those who are completely fed up are out there protesting, each for his/her own reasons and each with his/her own solutions. From the look of it, it isn't dying any time soon and these guys are set to achieve something. What it is, remains to be seen. It is always those desperate for change, that bring it about. Those who don't mind change as long as it is what they want or just desire a certain kind of change, will always be left out.

But the funniest lot are those who claim they want change, are forever waiting for someone else to initiate a call for change and then declare they cannot join the call because they don't agree with the "leaders" of the call, even when there are no leaders.

PS...you are correct, I don't know the specifics of the fall of the Romans, or the names you reference. I will read about them tommorrow.

I think we agree more than disagree; but you would disagree that the entire psychiatric problem in America has a profit driven motive at the very least, and perhaps something even more sinister. You'd like to think it's real, with some environmental cause perhaps, but it's really nothing more than another symptom of corruption and abuse...anyone can be diagnosed with a mental illness these days and there's a pill for everything from being nervous in crowds, to the slightest bit of depression!

It is something I've got some experience with, but a matter for another thread...or maybe not.

Such a smug thread and ignorant take by a great member.

Slayer passively takes the side of corporatism, by dismissing and stereo typing
the Angry American population. Instead of illuminating ignorance, Slayer has picked
up the torch of ignorance and ran headlong with it painting the town with the
light of common idiocy usually reserved for T.V addicts and Talk Radio.
In the two Occupy rally I have seen there were all types, instead of focus on
the fact the people are awake and seeing potential in the world, Slayer has
stepped up to a painted the same vile light which is normally owned and operated
by the corporate media. Slayer has joined the corporate protection gang, which
cuts off all discussion or analysis and turns the discussion into a discussion about
the common man, not the elites and their war against humanity. If I ever felt
like spitting on a good person it is today, in all my years of reading ATS...

If there is ever a slight sign of violence I will move, I have lost faith in the minds
and heart of countrymen. Where protecting a constitution really just an act to
defend the earnings and power of the oligarch. I will stand with the heart of those good
miss guided kids ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. The most disgusting and vile piece
of propaganda I have ever read, you mobilized me, I am spreading your post,
your eloquent, putrid words are going mobilize many more.

Classic deflection tactic : "I agree with .... but.....". Thus making the unaware think you agree with the politics whilst having a good old dig just like someone who disagrees.

Some of it is driven by pharmaceutical profit, but not all of it. If anything the drive for profit in vaccines, fluoride, and radiation from consumer electronics are probably part of the problem.

Autism is a good example, a disability that can be clearly identified unlike ADHD. Rates went from 10% of children in the 1990s to 15% in the 2000s. It will likely reach 20% this decade. We don't know why the increase is happening, but 20-25% of the population being Autistic is not a good thing at all.

Rome had similar problems, caused by lead poisoning. Romans used lead cookware, lead plates, utensils, lead sugars (the first artificial sweetner), and lead pipes. So there are very real factors that cause human problems and affect society.

I can see that.
I appreciate all the false accusations and presumptions. Anything else other than a poorly conceived frivolous attempt at character assignation or are you done?

I don't presume anything, you are mischaracterizing and demonizing erroneously.
I would care if it came from one of these drones, but from you, it stings.
I realize, that the gloves are off, in this society, there are those that are for the
people and there are those who defend the elites and their companies. You are
doing the work of the banks, with the most basic and perfect form of propaganda.
Take the piss out of peoples real sentiments by attacking them and making fun
of them. There is no room left to talk about the banks or the corporatism, you and
you great effort suck all the air out of the room. The banks get to sit there sure that
efforts just like yours will keep their practices safe, because the RED THREAT is worse.
There is no real red threat, that is contrived and magnified many multitudes...
So we get to here about the evil of the commies and give yet another pass to the banks.
You can feel good though, you did hurt another person today, inadvertently, I don't
have faith when a quality person will initiate and propel this method perfected by the
tyrants who are raping America. I am glad, you woke me up, so you got a nice thread bump,
I am gonna get people out there, you can flap from your arm chair, and I am gonna
actually do something and bring attention to this.

Thanks...

Sooooo,,,, you can't point out anything he said that was wrong, and just have to fall back on throwing words out like "vile" and "putrid".

Seriously - you can't find anything wrong in the post to hone in on?

OK

Using pictures of college kids holding Commie signs does not mean that it is a communist
movement. The entire OP focuses on contrived notions that ignore the events that have motivated
people to finally get off their butts.

But you know what???as much as I'd like to here about the threat that these college kids pose
to humanity, I am actually going to instigate more people to participate in it. Right now, I am
working on it, tomorrow I will work at it, I am designing a flyer on the other window which
I will distribute after work tomorrow. This thread did it for me, make fun of this at your own
peril...

you can bash away, I am acting...

How do you determine who is for the people? It looks from this hilltop like both "sides" are using the people, as if they were just another expendable, renewable resource to be exploited. That's right, the powers behind this little opera are using them, too - as cannon fodder to simply throw against their opponents. It's easier to do when you can collectivize them and throw 'em as a mass.

You are doing the work of the banks, with the most basic and perfect form of propaganda.

Can you articulate how he, or any of the rest of us for that matter, are "doing the work of the banks" when he very clearly slammed THE bank, the Federal Reserve, in the OP? How does one kill the monster by nipping at it's ass on Wall Street rather than going for the throat in DC?

There is no real red threat, that is contrived and magnified many multitudes...

So why are they using the playbook that the Reds wrote, as I outlined above?

You can mobilize all the people you want, and it won't do the slightest bit of good until you get them to a place where they can have an effect. That would be DC. Until you get 'em on target, it's all just more "flapping". Doesn't matter if it's from an arm chair, or milling around on Wall Street. Flappin' is flappin'.

Communism works great on paper...

Can't argue with that sentiment... same goes for Socialism and Capitalism... sad thing is, the current global and individual systems are far beyond that. I love how so many people are quick to jump on the bash social/communism as this big evil nonesense...

It could argued that capitalism has taken more lives than socialism or communism, in their pure ideals, all are workable systems, the problem is NONE of them are a fit all solution, and in the modern day and age, perhaps it's about meeting in the middle somewhere... so instead of bashing all other political spectrums, we look at the merits of each, and collectively reform something that sits in the middle...

Or we could keep deriding the fact that some people are beginning to make a stand against our collective enemy, whilst we sit here as keyboard warriors in our state of judgement?

Well then it's a Win - Win situation.

Whether you get involved with looking at the Fed [Where I and many others here see the REAL problem] or getting involved with the OWS gig [Which I've already clearly stated I agree with most of their grievances] at least this thread has motivated you to do something.

Good, Bad or Indifferent.

Of course not. The kids holding commie signs are very clearly anti-communist John Birchers. What WERE we thinking?

"At my own peril"? Go for it. I'll stand right next to my peril to provide an easy target, and we'll see how it goes. As to the "mobilization" effort, I've already addressed that above. You can mobilize all day long, but walking circles in the wrong place just means that the mobilized troops are lost.

Than do something about it. If it is misdirected, you should stand up and lead the charge instead of hiding behind the keyboard and criticizing people who are trying to bring a change that you could actually believe in. IT is very easy to sit back and say these guys won't know what is gonna hit them but I support every one of their movements. Well if you support them than go tell them what the protest should be about and why it it is important.

Excellent and thought provoking post as ever slayer....but (there had to be a but)

What else can we do ? How do we get the powers that be to understand that the current system is not good enough, to understand that change is needed (and not the phony Obama change that was given.)

At least for the first time in a generation people are out on the street, mostly protesting peacefully (more so that the standard G8/G20 protesters).

So how do we get change ? We are not listened too, the ballot box gives as a choice of puppet 1 or puppet 2 (or as here in the uk - Puppet 1 with his sidekick Clegg the Dork) ?

I always thought growing up if you want things to Change you make them Change but now I am all growed up I see that the power of 1 does not exist.

Power of 1 = NoChange
Power of X = Change

Solve for X.

Again I say at least they are on the streets. As for Media coverage in all honesty I don't think there has been much in the UK but I could be wrong, too busy reporting on the Tory party conference I guess
