So the Occupy Wall Street gypsies have finally put out their coherent "list" of demands... and it couldn't be more more of an eclectic collection of idealistic pipe dreams and socialistic rhetoric that contradicts itself into oblivion:

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

OccupyWallStreet.org

Seriously? Here's the quick question that pretty pops the balloon:
Q: If we have Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment, what will we do when no one decides to work?
A: Bush and his big oil buddies will have to pay!

Q: What if they decide not to work either, because they can get a "living wage" without working? Who will pay then?
A: The rich will!

Q: What happens when you've taken all their money?
A: Yawn, I'm going to get another Starbucks - follow my twitter account for answers.

Actually, A lot of americans are leaving the united states, and if not, at least crossing the border to work here. I watched it somewhere the other day, ill try to find the source for you. But yeah, some of them are definatly trying to get out.

And that is his own list of things he percieves the list of demands as.

He's making a mockery of it, really. Lol. You lost the game.

I wonder how intoxicated they'd have to get to come up with that list of gibberish? Demands are something I'd expect to see as immediate, physically possible and realistic to how the world works. Many of their points are so far into the realm of Utopian fantasy, it's just not worth even discussing.

And to think....some people thought the 'chicken in every pot' concept was silly. They'd never believe a list like this coming out and presented as something other than pure comedy. Okay...sober up down there, protesters. We'd like to see the REAL list of demands now.

Another thought:

Why do we need free education if you don't need to work to get paid? Why do we need unions if we have free education (cough cough... most "union jobs" don't work in Unions)?

Why do we need open borders? There are no jobs anyone wants except here the United States... or did I miss all these freaks getting blocked from heading to Mexico for work?

International standards of elections? I didn't know there were any.. unless you're talking about the might of the middle ages by putting purple ink on your finger... Here's a hint - if there were NOT rigged elections, you'd never win anything.

Last - for now... if we forgive all debt... you do realize you'll need to start supporting your parents right? Their retirement is based upon that debt... AND your house will then belong to the bank outright - so move out and get homeless everyone!

P.S. Why do we need to get rid of credit reporting agencies if we're forgiving all debt? I guess you're simply assuming you'll get in more debt again?

How exactly do you think these demands create jobs? Demand of products and/or services creates jobs... not half baked ideas of what a perfect society would be like...

really? these are seriously their demands?

I have a question, maybe I'm mis-understanding this, but are they suggesting that everyone get paid a wage whether they work or not?

And what about all the people who now flock to the US to earn this "living wage" because the borders are now open...?

I wonder how many "brownies" they went thru to write these...ho boy...we are in serious trouble

This is so comical. A group of people actually get off their collective asses and go out in boots with voices to create any form of change that people like you talk about on the internet, and all you can do is do what you are already conditioned to, be a shill, fear of change, and create a division when unity is present in the ranks. Typical Modern American Bull#. Congrats.

Yeah, lol. Thats a forum post, not the official demands. Good job. Here are the real demands:

LIST OF PROPOSED "DEMANDS FOR CONGRESS"
CONGRESS PASS HR 1489 ("RETURN TO PRUDENT BANKING ACT" www.govtrack.us... ). THIS REINSTATES MANY PROVISIONS OF THE GLASS-STEAGALL ACT. en.wikipedia.org...–Steagall_Act --- Wiki entry summary: The repeal of provisions of the Glass–Steagall Act of 1933 by the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act in 1999 effectively removed the separation that previously existed between investment banking which issued securities and commercial banks which accepted deposits. The deregulation also removed conflict of interest prohibitions between investment bankers serving as officers of commercial banks. Most economists believe this repeal directly contributed to the severity of the Financial crisis of 2007–2011 by allowing Wall Street investment banking firms to gamble with their depositors' money that was held in commercial banks owned or created by the investment firms. Here's detail on repeal in 1999 and how it happened: en.wikipedia.org...–Steagall_Act#Repeal .
Vote Here #1

USE CONGRESSIONAL AUTHORITY AND OVERSIGHT TO ENSURE APPROPRIATE FEDERAL AGENCIES FULLY INVESTIGATE AND PROSECUTE THE WALL STREET CRIMINALS who clearly broke the law and helped cause the 2008 financial crisis in the following notable cases: (insert list of the most clear cut criminal actions). There is a pretty broad consensus that there is a clear group of people who got away with millions / billions illegally and haven't been brought to justice. Boy would this be long overdue and cathartic for millions of Americans. It would also be a shot across the bow for the financial industry. If you watch the solidly researched and awared winning documentary film "Inside Job" that was narrated by Matt Damon (pretty brave Matt!) and do other research, it wouldn't take long to develop the list.
Vote Here #2

CONGRESS ENACT LEGISLATION TO PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY BY REVERSING THE EFFECTS OF THE CITIZENS UNITED SUPREME COURT DECISION which essentially said corporations can spend as much as they want on elections. The result is that corporations can pretty much buy elections. Corporations should be highly limited in ability to contribute to political campaigns no matter what the election and no matter what the form of media. This legislation should also RE-ESTABLISH THE PUBLIC AIRWAVES IN THE U.S. SO THAT POLITICAL CANDIDATES ARE GIVEN EQUAL TIME FOR FREE AT REASONABLE INTERVALS IN DAILY PROGRAMMING DURING CAMPAIGN SEASON. The same should extend to other media.
Vote Here #3

CONGRESS PASS THE BUFFETT RULE ON FAIR TAXATION SO THE RICH AND CORPORATIONS PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE & CLOSE CORPORATE TAX LOOP HOLES AND ENACT A PROHIBITION ON HIDING FUNDS OFF SHORE. No more GE paying zero or negative taxes. Pass the Buffet Rule on fair taxation so the rich pay their fair share. (If we have a really had a good negotiating position and have the place surrounded, we could actually dial up taxes on millionaires, billionaires and corporations even higher...back to what they once were in the 50's and 60's.

There are more demands there, couldn't fit them all in to one post. They're detailed. Check it out.

This "list of demands" (which it is not) shows 2 major problems, one with the people that use this site, the other dealing with protesting anything in general.

first, the fact that this is a PROPOSED list of demands by some nutcase who doesn't even have the support of the few "protesters" commenting on his post, is being passed off as their actual list of demands, and people several posts in still think this is an official list, shows you what happens when you fail to source something, post it here as fact, then wipe your hands of the situation.

Second, this clearly shows you what happens when you let those stupid hippy drum circle jerks get anywhere even close to the media. Before it was easy, they'd be too busying banning their drums and getting high to actually get any voice time. But now we have the internet and anonymous un-sourced blogs.

And it's working, now if you google for that list the majority of the top results are this bogus insane ramblings of a drunken hippy, and you really have to dig to find the ACTUAL list of REASONABLE "demands".

Isn't it funny that people are willing to fight tooth and nail to protect the rich. If everyone paid their fair share there wouldn't be a problem, but I get it, you still think YOU can be one of THEM and screw anyone who wants to ruin the party before you get to cash in.

folks, you aren't even going to lick the plate.

at least these misguided kids are willing to do SOMETHING, even if they have no hope of winning whatever battle they think they are fighting, at least they see a problem, are forming solutions, and demanding change.

You can poo poo and ho hum all you want from a middle of the road forum, at least those kids are getting pepper sprayed, beaten, and arrested for a REASON. They believe in something, and beyond that, are trying to make it a reality.

Isn't protest and revolution something every American should hold dear? You wouldn't be an American if not for civil disobedience, protests, and eventually revolution.

And yes, this is a fair comparison. Your forefathers revolted and threw off the yolk placed on their collective necks by the British. These kids want to remove the yolk placed by the bankers.

And let me tell you something, unless you are under 35, you have no clue the debt these kids are saddled with coming out of school into a market with next to no jobs, no real decent ones at least. And, thanks to your hero Bush, bankruptcy isn't even an option.

I came out of college almost a hundred grand in debt, COLLEGE. Now think what these poor kids are dealing with paying millions of dollars (loans) to get an education that is worth nothing because the only jobs are non union, part time, labor.

You don't see a problem with the world? Must be nice to we that well insulated, the rest of us aren't. the rest of us don't have trust funds, or stock options. when I lose my job, i don't get a golden parachute. When I break the law, I go to jail. When I lie cheat and steal it's not considered standard operating procedure.

If these kids honestly want solutions, ending the FED is the solution. If not outright ending it, a gross restructuring of the system is required.

Honestly. Every 1$ printed is loaned to the government plus interest. How on earth, what Harvard course do I need to take, for that to become sustainable.

We are slaves debt.

But, I can smile about this. I live in Cannuckistan, I already enjoy some of the things these kids are supposedly demanding. yes, this socialist paradise will be the downfall of civilization, I mean, who the hell thinks working together for the better good is actually the road to a prosperous future? I mean, if we all pull our fair share and work together, who gets to be the elite? Who gets to hold power over others?

Lets talk some figures. Sorry, can't source this cause it's from a history book from High school. Anyways.

WW2. the money spent of WW2 could have provided a college education to every child in America. It could have built a home for every family in America. It could have provided life time dental coverage for every personal in America.

Now how much has been spent in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, and wherever else the US is killing brown people?

A free college education for every child in America? Yup, end 1 of those wars and it's a real possibility. And just think, every child gets a free, equal shot, at a decent education, and instead of a bunch of kids who learned how to cheat the system, you get class after class of educated workers.

I agree. These protesters are less numerically significant than those they protest against by far.

Time would better spent by this number helping the local poor and impoverished neighborhoods on the local scale, IMO.

They contribute, those in true need could benefit=win/win.

The people talking have never lived that livestyle. Not being able to afford anything. Wondering if you're going to be homeless.

That is why they look down on ows with disdain, they're happy, they don't see any issue with that. Well, hoping they are the minority, because it seems like a lot of them like to converge here on ATS and troll around.

So, um. . . er. . . . they want free stuff, no work, and they want the wealthy to pay for all of it.

Here are MY demands.
1. Bathe
2. Grow up.
3. Haircut. Get one.
4. Work. Find some.
5. Put something towards the economy before asking for any of it back.
6. Quit bothering me, I work for a living.
7. Bathe, again.
8. When you've finished your tantrum, go home and immediately apologise to your parents.
9. If you ever see me walking down the street, turn around and run away quicky. I'm not very nice.

They're not alone. People do support them. The unemployment rate in the us is 9.1%. Those people cannot find jobs because there are none to be had.
You're obviously not part of that 9.1%. that doesnt include people struggling to pay housing costs, some people work two jobs and still can't make it by.

Its not about any ONE person. Its about everyone who's been screwed. And a lot of people have been screwed.

Yeah, that's why you've got a bunch of loons running around talking smack about them. Mommy and daddy probably gave half of the clowns posting here their downpayment money on their house, or whatever. Silver spoon loons are in abundance here at ATS

And if you disagree, you are a communist socialist.
