Don't let facts get in the way of other peoples' stupidity. They will look for any excuse to permit the status quo (those who have continue to rob those who barely have anything). They still think there's a war on terrorism, still think mandatory vaccinations = freedom, that we're the greatest nation ever because we blow people up for being non-westernized, and that the system works perfectly because they've got theirs and the system hasn't turned on them. Screw them.

As Americans we should stop to consider that our founding fathers met in secret to draft our constitution. If they had been found out they would have been considered traitors and would have been thrown in jail or killed for what they were trying to do.

These days they would have been considered terrorists. Today they would have been on an FBI watch list and beaten by the cops. Who knows maybe taken to Gitmo or disappeared in the night. It is our duty as Americans to stand up for what is fair and right and just. We are Americans its time that we started acting like it.

I'm starting to see why EX PM Maggie Thatcher dismantled the unions in the uk. There used to be a way for us little people to get the big people thinking oh sh*% they are getting uppity again, it's appeasement time.

We used to stick together but that time is long gone !

If the top 5% own nearly everything, maybe the lower 5% should stop doing the cleaning, baking, transporting, waste removal, etc etc for a month, then when TSHT gold plated fans literally, they might start to realise they need us more than we need them.

But of course they know us little 5% can't afford to do that.

im going to continue to occupy MY JOB.

because you know, im too busy working so that i can earn my own way through life and pay for others "fair share" the whole time.

less time protesting and demanding others provide for you and more time working on bettering your own life just doesnt make sense anymore i guess.

about the only thing i can go along with is the bank bailouts being total crap. other than that. get off your stupid protesting ass and work if you want more out of life. nobody owes you a damn thing. and the fact that somebody else is rich is NOT the reason your poor. its BECAUSE WHILE THEYRE WORKING YOURE IN THE GOD DAMN STREET PROTESTING.

quit complaining about what others have and try to better your own.

or go protest the government that allow this to happen. that would make more sense even.

People have woken up to those kinds of tactics. Mark my words, the next boogeyman will be seen for what it is, and ignored.

They have tried for years to get the people worked up that way again.

People realize now that they have been decieved, and they are very, very angry about it.

Your strawman argument is laughable and beneath us.

Stop trying to enslave us. We want true freedom and we won't let you shackle us again.

1.) What is Wallstreet going to do about unemployment when poor fiscal policy and impending new taxes are looming and causing unsure feelings in the people controlling large amounts of a companies shares. Nervous companies don't hire.

2.) Again what is Wallstreet going to do here. How do CEOs and brokers and people manning phones in exchanges change the behavior of the FED?

3.) Are you expecting a handout to raise your social status?

4.) Again I ask what do you think wallstreet can do about public education?

5.) Where do you get teh idea that the wealthy haven't been affected by this?

6.) And what is it you want Wallstreet to do about this one? I know what you want... Hand outs. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE SYSTEM HOLDING YOU DOWN. Educate yourself seek opportunity actively quit blaming the poverty you see on people with money.

When you stop screaming for socialist reforms people may start to listen. Not one person in the united states is outright denied the ability to further their lives and grow their worth.

just my .02

Change the entire dang structure of laws, taxes, and the stock market starters. They put taxes in place to get people to stop smoking. Get rid of the entire current tax structure and deductions for corporations. Implement a new tax structure that only gives deductions to companies for hiring employees. The more employees, the higher the deductions. Give deductions for lowering the cost of the products they sell. If they can give farmers money for not growing food, they can give deductions for lower cost products.

Change or eliminate the stock market. The stock market can cripple not only investors, but also companies. Ok, if people want to invest, they should be able to buy stocks. Companies are only obligated to pay back the original price, plus a small percentage of say 10% of the original price for how ever long it takes for the company to pay it back. It could pay it back in one lump sum, or give out a percentage of the profits each year.

Right now the wealthy control the markets. They can make it go up or down, because they are the ones who have so much invested in it. The rest of us are just there for the ride. The wealthy will turn and prey on the rest of us just to make a buck in the markets.

Tie the CEO and top executives pay to the lowest paid person. If the lowest paid person only earns minimum wage, then the CEO can only make 100X that amount with a limit of a 40 hour work week. Most companies try to avoid over time as much as possible.

Make corporate lobbying illegal. It might be easier just to make lobbying illegal. Too many back deals are made by the wealthy through lobbying, bribing, and the like that hurt the rest of us. I honestly believe the new health care plan was invaded by the insurance corporations to make sure they get their slice. Therefore make healthcare even more expensive. Oh yea, the prices may go down after they hiked them up before hand.

Pay people a living wage, and make it possible for one parent to stay home with their children if they so choose to do so.

If the people were taken care of employment and wage wise in the first place, charities, government handouts, and the like would not be needed as much. Some of these charities these rich give to don't help people. They help animals, trees, give mega bucks to pharmaceutical companies to find a cure for this or that. It has become such a big business, I wouldn't put it past them to find a cure and hide it from the population so they can continue to rake in money.

Education, teachers salaries are pathetic, and their jobs are 1000X more important than any CEO or athlete out there. Some of the poorest schools need serious help. No, the government is more willing to bail out the banks and wall street before putting what is needed into the schools.

How is anyone suppose to get ahead with no jobs, no money, and even no way to start a business. Laws and other factors make it very hard to start ones own business anymore. Walmart and other big corporations have run local businesses out of business. No one can really compete with them.

The larger the corporation, the more they want to add to your job, lower your wage, and have you work the longest hours possible without having to give out overtime whether it means cheating on the hours worked, or docking several minutes for one minute late.

Tell all the unemployed, people who lost their houses, people who small businesses have shut down because people can not buy their products. This to me says it all. My parents are antique dealers. In the past, they sold only to US buyers. Now, most of their sales come from over seas.

Tell me how it isn't the fault of the wealthy who control the government through bribes, lobbying, stock markets, and etc to further their greed.

Many of those protesting use to have jobs, and now can't get one even though their life depends on it. Don't think the same thing won't happen to you later on, unless you already have a low paying job. Yeah that's right the corporation doesn't owe you a thing. First thing you know they fire your co-worker, and tell you that you now have to do their job also while they try to fill that position. A month later, they tell you that your doing such a good job that they will not hire anyone for that position, but they are not raising their salary either. Happened to my sister.

You are still lucky to have your job. A year later they tell you they are cutting back on everyone's wages. Unknown to you, the CEO is getting a raise. You are stuck with what equals two jobs and a lower wage. You're still lucky right?

A year later, they get taken over by another corporation who decides to move what they can over to China or somewhere else. All that is left over here is low paying service jobs. Then they cut back on those also. Sorry, you are out of a job. You try to find another one, but there are none open. Six months later on unemployment, and still no success. The longer you are out of work, the less likely you will be hired. Also, some companies don't hire if your credit rating isn't good either. By now you are behind on everything, in debt, and maybe facing foreclosure.

All you want to do is to go back to work, and dig your way out of this mess. Then you think about starting your own business. Hopefully the market isn't saturated, or over run by competition by having too low prices. With little or no money your choices are extremely limited. Hand out fliers and post small ads you are willing to clean. Possibly welcome to e-bay a super saturated market place right now. Have a little money? Can you compete with other restaurants, computer repair shops, car washers, used car dealers, and etc? Some may be able to flourish right now. With the economy getting worse, less and less people have money to pay for services and/or buy products.

Whose fault is it really that people are on unemployment doles? Remember you can't get unemployment if you quit your job. Most companies are nasty about letting you get unemployment.

Wake up before you are in their shoes.

I have been following the theatrics of the mainstream media. (I am thankful for all the laughs). I just hope someone is taking names for all of the reporters and talking heads and bloggers and politicians ,etc. Especially the ones that dare call these people un american. Anyone ever here of the Boston Tea Party of the American Revolution? One blogger referred to the protestors as asshats...The only thing un-american is to call a protestor un-american. All these talking heads show the true nature of media and corporations and politicians. They hate people plain and simple. Either that or Mind Control is a real thing. Because who could say such ludicrous things against their own people. The hate they have for Americans is disgusting and they should all be pulled out to the streets to account for their un american remarks.

Well thats just it. It is emotion. That is why these protests are picking up so much steam. Someone finally took the first step, and now everyone else is finally waking up to the fact that they have a voice, and they can do something about it. It is spreading like wildfire, because so many people are living lives they never wanted to live. [/quote

Logic and Facts can support an idea -- but MOTION is what moves every movement.

If you aren't pulling people by their heartstrings, you are going to have a hard time getting people to commit. It's just human nature.

>> The USUAL gaggle of "I hate hippies -- get off my lawn" people are of course going to be against the Occupy Wall Street movement -- as they've always been against ANYTHING that calls out a corporation. Probably the same people who defended BP and told everyone to "quit whining about a little oil slick because we all use cars."

It's because some of us want something entirely different than you. I'm just a teensy little one-person company. Yet in 2010 my company stimulated the economy to the tune of forty thousand dollars. My little company helped waitresses feed their children, an auto mechanic pay his rent, and a graphic designer pay her bills. etc etc

I'd love to stimulate the economy even more but the only way that is going to happen is with LESS regulation and taxes, not more.

I want MORE capitalism, not less.
