A couple of critiques:

First of all, Solyndra is a valid issue and is cronyism at it's worst. Second, "for profit" healthcare DOES work. The "for profit" part is far-reaching. Without profits, you have no new drugs, no incentive to innovate, no incentive to become a doctor. You end up with the medical equivalent of a "public defender", for your primary care. One only has to look at every other sector our government has taken over. All money losers and failures. We put them in charge of SS and look where it's at...on the verge of bankruptcy. A ponzi scheme that doesn't even make interest.

Go to any public clinic and look at the caliber of doctors there.

Something I've noticed about this post.

There is a dichotomy of presentation styles which leads one to suspect there is an element bent on discrediting the message.

Here we have a video of a faux news reporter recording a gentleman that asserted an eloquent dissertation on the social movement that has resulted in mass public outcry. It is appropriate to be skeptical of this presentation, but not to excess.

Perhaps one can question the players, the motives, the attempt at manipulation. I am a college instructor and in all of the conversations that I have engaged in with colleagues regarding this subject I have not heard so precise and grammatically correct rendering of the issues we all face. However, this does not make it any more reasonable to discount this video.

At the heart of any matter lies the reality, or the original concept. In matters of the heart it is easy to allow emotion to be a guiding force. This video does make a very heartfelt connection in it's proposition of support for continued public demonstration. This is then attacked as being validation of subversive intent.

In all of the rhetoric, here at ATS and other online outlets, on TV, or in print, it seems that it is the MESSAGE that is being slowly eroded from our collective conscious. We are being redirected into a different understanding of current events. This is occurring before our very eyes and yet we still don't see it.

Look around. Remember the Tea Party? They began as a group of genuinely concerned citizens who mobilized to make change. Now look at them. Just another puppet on a string. We should not stand by and allow the same disastrous result for the current movement. This is the will of the people.

The real message is not how different we are from each other. The real message is how different our overlords are from us. The powers that be have been engorged on the sacrifice of millions, if not billions, over the past 66 years. Yet we allow them to exist. Why?

Because they are very adept at controlling the controls. The Federal Reserve. The US Congress. The Health Care System. The religious right (moral majority - remember them?). So as George Carlin would say, "They gotcha by the balls!" Your money, your government, your health, and your faith are all owned and operated by the same fascist families that have existed controlling us for generations.

The message being stated loud and clear no matter how hard the MSM attempts to show otherwise is, "we are mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore!" As a people we have taken the tyrannical abuse of autocratic despots for far too long. Now that the very government we elected to represent our best interest is no longer interested, perhaps it is high time for the people to get up off the couch, confer with their fellow citizens and put an end to this atrocious mess.

Many of us do not maintain the vocabulary necessary to expertly verbalize those ideals we hold precious. Like freedom, and the pursuit of happiness. That does not mean that the heart of one so limited does not feel the great compassion for humans that is being played out on a planetary scale. Nor should it infer that one who is so blessed with oratory skills be chastised as a power monger or fear monger.

kill the messenger, eh?

Remember the message. Search your heart. And then remember what your mother tried so very hard to teach you....

"Now go outside and play nice, honey!"

.

That was awesome, he was more concise, structured, and fluent than the interviewer, who knew before hand what he was going to ask. Just shows us, this is not a stunt by young, naive college kids with nothing to do.

Are you implying that college students are incapable of being concise, structured, and fluent? ';.;'

I cannot speak on behalf of all college students because most college students do not get the education I do. Yes, we all get the coerced learning environment of grades and GPA (as if we need incentives to learn) but some majors actually educate students on societal issues and history. I myself am a Sociology and History major and can say first hand that much of the stuff we learn goes against what a lot of people believe.

...now just because I said Sociology does not mean I am a Marxist!!! Granted much of what he said makes sense and is written in an easy to understand style, I tend to side more with Herbert Marcuse and somewhat C.W. Mills. (The One Dimensional Man and The Power Elite respectively...) I think people in my major latch on to Marx because his works we read from are simple and straight-forward. I disagree with the whole proletariat revolution...not morally but simply because of dominating ideology and control which will limit those willing to revolt to small numbers. Instead we get the occasional protest (many of which GOT PERMITS FROM THE CITY/STATE meaning the city or state felt that their protest would not majorly conflict with their interests and might actually serve their interests by allowing people to harmlessly vent their frustration for a bit before going home partially satisfied.)

Nope. That is the problem of partisan thinking.

Someone who asks why the hell Conservatives focused on where Pres. Obama was born while our economy was collapsing...is not defending President Obama, they are defending sanity.

Someone who asks why a Solar Company failing is considered Mega-News while the entire middle class is spiraling at light speed into poverty is NOT defending President Obama...they are asking the very sane question of WTF!!!

And I will believe that Solyandra represents "cronyism" the minute Billionaire GOP Backer - Sam Walton's family investment vehicle, Madrone declares that it will not look to recover it's investment in Solyndra as a "preferred investor" or when Solyndra's CEO leaves the GOP, YES he is a devout republican.

WTF...now I am asking it...can we focus on actually saving our efen country!!!

I understand the evil mainstream censorship stuff, and i know it is a fact. BUT, remember everyone, the enemy of my enemy is NOT my friend.

The people in Wall Street are probably communism and socialism sympathizers, and some hardcore ones, and not the European type of socialists. The people in Puerta del Sol, Spain never transmitted anything positive to me, but when they asked for the participation of Hugo Chavez(i'm Venezuelan), i said "WOAH!". Really?

The guy running what is now a Cuban Colony? That guy? Im thinking the Wall Street crowd is the same people. They know what they don't want, but they definitely don't know what they DO want.

This is terrible in my opinion, because once you break the chains and get rid of the bad part, you need to start building the new system, right away, because if you don't you'll have a long-lasting stagnancy OR (and most likely) you'll leave the door open for oportunistic characters, wich will take you to a point much lower than where you were before.

In my opinion, these protests will lead to nothing, and by nothing I mean UK style riots and looting or the disolution of the crowds. Where's the PLANNING? where's the VISION?where's the PROJECT?

It can't be just an improvised gathering, those never work out well.

What are they protesting about anyways?

For profit healthcare only works for those that can afford it, which is a rapidly declining portion of the population.

Healthcare is not a reward for hard work. No one can work, think or innovate their way out of their child getting brain cancer.

Disease does not care about your education or how hard you work.

Healthcare does not fit into the capitalist equation.

What you are wrongly proposing is that we must choose between a system that only treats those who can afford it (good care) and a system that treats everyone (bad care).

Like the vast majority of democracies around the world with "socialized medicine" you can still have private physicians and healthcare for those that can afford the same as well as pharmaceutical companies for profit alongside "socialized medicine".

False dichotomy.

Or looking at another way...Those that can't afford treatment currently don't get ANY treatment. Do you think they will complain if their doctor didn't graduate Cum Laude? or if their drugs are generic?

It is just a false argument on every front.

Solyndra is a perfect example of what is wrong with our country right now.

The Solyndra loan represents 1.3% of the DOE's loan pprtfolio targeted at breaking our dependance on middle east oil by encouraging American companies to innovate.

The Solyndra loss represents about 2 days operating costs for the war in Afghanistan....and we have been there for a decade.

Given the performance of the Private sector funds and private investment vehicles ....a 1.3% loss?

No doubt about it, Solyndra was a ef up...but in the context of what is occuring in the private markets and directly to the American people, it was but a raindrop in a hurricaine and has been massively inflated by the media for pure distraction purposes.

80 billion dollars went into Obama's green initiative.

That comes out to over 11 million dollars per job created or saved.

It's a big problem any way you slice it.

38.6 Billion in loan guarantees

Only half of it spent thus far, with direct new job creation comming in at 3,545 and jobs saved with plant conversions, notably automakers, comming in much higher, around 33,000 at Ford alone, not including ancillary jobs associated with the continued existance of those auto plants...restaurants, bars, grocery stores etc.

are those numbers debatable? Sure, but less so than the numbers you provided.

I know there is a lot of spin and propaganda out there, I just think it would be beneficial for folks to think in a non-partisan nature and drill down on the factual basis of what they are fed and check multiple sources on both sides of the fence.

If you want to get into detail, site sources and debate this particular issue I reccomend starting a thread and I will attend.

When you're being censored by MSM in general and fox especially you know your on the right side.
Really funny when the reporter tries to sidetrack the interview by trying to make a cheap shot at Obama. Not that i favor Obama over any of the recent presidents, but this isn't about political bias imo. It's the people showing their will for solidarity, or as some people here on ATS calls it "communism".

We're doomed.

That's just another rant. The guy hates conservatives and the media, so beyond that?

Since they have been getting lots of coverage and lots of interviews, I can only guess those screaming about the media do not watch the news and say they are not getting coverage to get more attention. I've seen something every day about this at least once if not more often on the MSM. So why the lie?

You must understand how it looks to most people when people who are getting coverage say they are not. What are people supposed to think. Certainly not that what they say can be trusted after lying about that.

This is a small group of people and there are lots of important stories in a day. What I'm getting is they want the media to cover them 24/7. Why? I've seen many interviewed both on the MSM and on other video's and I've yet to see more than maybe a couple with an understandable message. In fact some are so out of touch with reality I'd be embarrassed to be part of anything they are involved with.

We also know that people like Soros and Van Jones are involved and anyone involved with them has sold out to a Party.

Is the idea that a tiny group of people who have no clear message are important? I don't see it.

Then they block traffic on a major arterial and one of the main bridges which surely turns any serious people against them. When you stomp on other peoples rights, you loose all credibility or should.

I'm all for peaceful protest but have no interest in nuts, radicals, attention seekers and those who serve a political party while pretending to be against the status quo.

I saw lots of this phoniness while being a part of the Vietnam War protests. Spoiled rich Brats out for a lark. Radicals with such radical ideas they guarantee the protests are meaningless. Political hacks involved giving them money while they pretend they are not there representing the party backing them. You know, lying
Not to mention the so called Anarchists simply waiting for a chance to damage property or engage in violence while hiding behind masks like cowards.

You take money from Soros or are involved with Van Jones, you are working for Obama. I think it's that simple.

Where is the organization? The clear message? This is just a mob and I doubt most know what they want or even have enough knowledge to speak intelligently.

Anyway, demanding more coverage while slandering the MSM and then expecting them to cooperate is truly stupid. Intelligent people can see through that in a heartbeat.

For me, as long as they remain peaceful and don't block roads or interfere with businesses they can continue for years if they wish. I doubt it will go much longer before the Anarchist take over and start smashing windows, looting and stomping all over other peoples rights. With no clear message or organization they really can't expect anything else. hundreds of people all screaming for different things drowns everyone out. If they have any leaders they are incompetent boobs.

Abolishing child labor laws
Eliminating the minimum wage
Eliminating Occupational Safety and Health Administration..worker safety OSHA
Eliminating workers rights/unions.
Protecting at all costs the wealthiest americans...bailouts, tax breaks, deregulation

The list goes on and on...it's not hyperbole, this is what the right says on a daily basis.

2. So the for-profit healthcare doesn't work? What state-run healthcare system runs better?

For profit healthcare works fine, but only for the shrinking number of people who can afford it, everyone else better hurry up and die because suffering sucks.

You can have both for profit healthcare for those that want to pay for it alongside "socialized medicine" It is not an either/or choice...hint, that is how the rest of the world does it.

Focus on the economy? But no mention of the Trillions going to war.

Maybe he is just stupid and hasn't realized that the majority of money time and energy produced by the US people goes to killing and oppressing and destroying people in other countries.

But that is not the point right now! It's the economy. Wars are great and necessary... and if we get our demands met we will even support MORE wars. It's give and take. Healthcare and jobs for us and we will support the murder and oppression of whomever our Master's tell us to.

Both of you.. WHO CARES. Here we are under complete and total oppression by violent, maniacal, murdering warlords.. and you are fighting over taxes? Seriously?

You are asking, begging for some table scraps from people who dominate and enslave under violent and murderous threat. What is so hard to understand?

This protest is pointless unless everyone there starts chanting "NO MORE WAR NO MORE WAR NO MORE WAR". What is the point? Who is going to be free while we support murder and domination? it is not rocket science.

I am confused why you think those are two different things?

Of course the 1.3 Trillion tax dollars spent thus far on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq depleted our economy. That is a given.

Was this particular protestor required to cite the wars?

Did you get the impression that this protestor was pro-war??

Your post made some strange assumptions...that since this random interviewee didn't mention the wars, then the movement must be pro-war?

Bizzare reasoning...
