I understand your viewpoint and I agree, I don't want starving families. The problem I have is that everyone knows times are hard, yet many screaming *starvation* the loudest still own more toys than Carter has Liver Pills and refuse to apply for jobs they feel are beneath them or pay a lessor wage....

Statistics also show that more people start to find jobs right AFTER their unemployment runs out. Government continually extending benefits only enables such peeps.

To those who have sold everything they don't need and applied for every available job, those they don't want or like or feel are worthy of them included.... and still can't find a job. My prayers are with you and I hope you find what you need with Godspeed!

The others just sound like whiners. Seriously Those are the ones this thread is about. And I have to concur, there are FAR too many whiners

With so many millions of American losing jobs after the financial crisis that originated in Wall Street, I will expect no less than winners, they have all the right to complain and protest.

Propaganda is such a powerful tool to keep the masses bickering against each other.

You believe what you believe, but if you research you will find the truth, America is not what once stood for and never will be back to that point unless the people force change.

While the economy goes down the crapper Wall street flourish, just take a minute and think what that means.

Economy sucks for most, but not for Wall Street where profits still boom

Wow, are you always this condescending? Do you always fail to read what people type? Maybe you should check my post history. This arrogance will destroy your movement before it even has a chance to become ineffectual.

I am a resident of New York who works in finance and the whole thing is absurd. Half the protesters don't even know what they are protesting and forget about the fact that out of the hundreds of people working on Wall Street it is only a select few who really make a ton of money. There are so many secretaries, janitors, administrators, etc. who are having their workday disturbed.

If they really wanted to protest somewhere where financial decision for the country are made they should be at the capital or the Fed, not Wall Street.

If I weren't far away from the protests, and didn't have to slave away at my job at an evil corporation, I would go to the protests. I would go to network. We need to remove ourselves from this corporatocity and start self sufficient communes. We need to stop begging for the life our parents had. They were told lies on all levels to strip them of means of support in exchange for trinkets posing as happiness. This lifestyle will perpetuate our enslavement. Just walk away from the master. He isn't looking.

Oh thanks for the chuckles this morning. Nice to see the American Delusion still in effect. Gore Vidal once said the difference between the poor of Britain and America was this: An American sees a rich man driving a Cadillac and thinks "Oh me and my kids will be driving one of those someday". The British man sees that car, flips the driver the bird and have no preconception that he will ever drive a Cadillac.

Here's the sad truth of the matter: You live in a system that requires poverty to exist. It requires haves and have nots. Be thankful you have a little, but remember most of that benefits comes on the backs of the have nots. But what does that matter? The wage slaves, the child laborers, the decimated lands-None of it matters to those who have. It's not in front of them so who cares.

Humans really are greedy little animals aren't they? Every time I read this board I am constantly reminded of that fact.

And I must say, threads like this prove ATS has turned into little more than a right-wing lovefest. If this was a Teaparty protest most of you would be masturbating to it.

They can be. I think it's a self perpetuating symptom. I think there would be less greed if we weren't taught to rule each other. That causes a lot of neurotic behavior.

Remember that when you want prostitution to end, you go after the pimp daddies, no the whores, Wall street are the pimp daddies, US congress and government are their whores,

Who do you think runs the US government, research and learn.

only a self-professed "scholar" would make the leap of faith that infers such nonsense while hoping some fool somewhere will buy it.

i'm positive there are a lot of disillusioned folk who would mindlessly agree, however, if you think wall street is any kind of relative comparison to the pimp factor, you have much to learn.
tis no wonder this protest reflects -0- cohesion and a complete lack of understanding, intent or resolve.
ever play chess ?? if so, why do players sacrifice a pawn?

Dear, I am a lady in my 50s, I have been around long enough to see what America has become, I am into history, politics and finances,I am beyond arrogant I am more of a realistic, and perhaps I missed your point or misinterpret your post, but this thread is too long for me to start from the beginning.

Who runs the government

No is not the fed even when the fed autonomy is well known, they can do deals without the approval of congress or president signature.

Everyone agrees that Goldman Sachs pretty much runs the government's economic and financial agencies.

As the New York Times explained last October in a must-read 4 page article, the presence of Goldman Sachs alumni in virtually all of the top government financial posts is so great that their team is dubbed "Government Sachs":

Indeed, Goldman’s presence in the [Treasury] department and around the federal response to the f financial crisis is so ubiquitous that other bankers and competitors have given the star-studded firm a new nickname: Government Sachs.

www.globalresearch.ca...

One more reason protesters are in Wall street and not in Washington or protesting the Federal Reserve, I think the people protesting Wall Street knows very well that the root of the economic inequality in the nations is in Wall Street.

Marketwatch columnist Paul Farrell literally says that Goldman "rules the world":

"Obama's victory and Geithner's appointment are the completion of Goldman's meticulously crafted plan to become a superpower. The firm now has the clout to impose its will on the financial markets, and the world."

GOP or Dems? Conservatives or liberals? It doesn't matter. We'll all controlled by "The [Goldman] Conspiracy." So why not surrender, let them have the power? The truth is, through their lobbyists and surrogates in Washington, they already rule America.

and this is where you folks lose the educated masses ...

While the economy goes down the crapper Wall street flourish, just take a minute and think what that means.

in one breath you claim it is all inter-connected (true - both WS & the economy) and then in the next (not even 2 pgs apart) you infer they are separate entities ... this is Why you don't understand.

quit telling ppl to educate themselves when clearly it is you who is lacking.
BE the change you wish to see ... get your hands dirty ... help a neighbor ... quit whining and do something other than pretend to be a catalyst of change you can't even define.
socialism is no answer.
whining certainly increases the cheeeez factor but accomplishes what exactly?

It is. One of my favorite blogs, Ace of Spades, has this to say:

The Left doing what the Left does best: Marching to protest [fill this space with, literally, anything].

What do we want? Free unicorns!

Who do we want it from? Wall Street!

Apparently someone told them the unicorns could be found on the Brooklyn Bridge, and now the NY justice system has a new revenue stream.

I kid of course. At a great cost to NY taxpayers, these protesters will likely skate on all fines using the airtight defense of "social justice", a defense only available to roughly half the U.S. population, despite the best intentions of the Equal Protection Clause.

These are serious times. It is instructive that in these times the best the left can do is foment for violence, create economic uncertainty, and spend other people's money.

And by instructive, of course I mean axiomatic.

Ace of Spades

If the left were those guys that co-opted occupy victoria, spent 3 hours bantering over the name of the movement, changed it to something long winded nobody could possibly tweet and say anything else -- then is still retaining the old name in some spots and won't surrender them, all the while the real occupy wall street movement is taking place at parliament, not in the kettle cage the co-opters chose for us, not with specific leaders like they have 4 self-appointed ones, I'm sure they'll be the ones begging for charity and free pizza. We at the proper movement don't even have to ask, if you want to donate go for it and get it delivered but other than that we aren't going to beg and grovel for sustenance while we do our work protesting, we broke off because we are seasoned protesters and we know entirely what went on.

They had some indian speak first, obviously to piss people off who don't want to listen to some indian talk about their beefs and argue that after this is done and over with they should still get extra from society above and beyond everybody else because supposed we are occupying their land and therefore should have less rights. People weren't leaving at that point but you could tell the movement took a huge shot to the nuts for that one.

Their bantering over pointless name crap when the one they were using already worked fine, was a neutering. The location, pretty much is this movement slitting it's own throat. Can anybody come up with a better way for a movement to get co-opted because it looks like the standard playbook for it and that's what those 4 people did to it. Nevermind with how quickly they got media coverage, media coverage specific to one locale of the movement has been slow especially here in canada but all of a sudden when these people throw something together with a whole of 300 members and 2000 invites, the news paper is covering it. Gee they didn't notice the #ing group I made before them? While they were busy deciding on this rediculous derailing agenda a group of us were already on the brink of just showing up at parliament and starting this thing organization or not. Convienient timing for the co-op. Now we are waiting till the 15th, but spread the word because we need your help. The real movement is going to be held at the most corrupt place in town, city hall is peanuts compared to BC legislature/parliament in victoria. Also, what sort of movement picks the most boxed in gathering spot in town versus a wide open field that can accomodate 10's of thousands of people versus a few thousand centennial square (city hall) can handle? Now the event is taking place in both locations, with a small but determined group of us determined to do this right and to stop alienating people with whatever the hell that was last night at the general assembly meeting.

By the way, the other groups name is the "people's general assembly of victoria" with (occupy victoria) in a bracket at the end, like this:
People's general assembly of Victoria (occupy victoria).

Ugh. Can anybody say WTF? I started a thread on it. You are right they are communists and want government to wipe their ass for them, and this is not what this movement is all about. This isn't about replicating a CIA controlled arab spring here in north america, this is about creating a general, widespread, non-puppeteered revolution.

It seems whoever these people were, they were either mostly all paid off to put a dog and pony show for those who actually want to "OCCUPY VICTORIA" or incredibly lacking in common sense.

Cheers,
FROM WAC VICTORIA

I totally agree. It's going to take a lot work to build and maintain our self sufficient communes. We'll also have to maintain a network of support. When we break free from slavery and live life as it is and not as advertised, the masters should lose power. Our communal world would then be the new socialist government.

It's impossible that some ATSers can be asleep, or at least heavily influenced by the system. Which is why I have come to believe that these boards have been heavily infiltrated by payed minions who try to influence public opinion in favor of TPTB.
