After certain shows which recently aired saying there was no clear reason to protest and blatantly laughed at those who were protesting I got mad.

I am protesting so they were laughing at ME.

They were laughing at YOU if your protesting.

So share your stories, tell the world... or at least ATS why you rare protesting! I've seen several people in other threads holding up pictures in the mirror telling their stories, feel free to share those here as well!

ETA:

I made an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the Unites States of America against ALL ENEMIES, foreign and DOMESTIC.

I am a disabled vet and I sacrificed my body and my mind for this country. They broke me but they are paying me, but that disability is rapidly decreasing in value. I am on a fixed income and every day that income is worse less and less.

I goto the grocery and a 99 cent item a couple years ago is 3-5$.

A few years ago I filled up my car for 10$ now it's closer to 40$

And meanwhile they have stoped the yearly inflation increases for the last several years. After paying my mortage, and other bills I have about 300$ per month to eat on, and that does not go far, and it is less and less every day.

In the same time the banks and corporations have been given TRILLIONS much of which ended up overseas.

Those bankers and corporations have been given BILLIONS in bonuses.

The Oil Companies have RECORD PROFITS.

And THE PATRIOT ACT and many other bills have gone into effect to make the land of the free a distant memory.

Our Constitution is being shredded for globalists, corporations and banksters. It won't change because they own all the politicians. I've written hundreds of letters to my representatives and only get form letters in reply and they proceed to do what their masters tell them. There is no representation for us anymore.

I can't pick up my son at the airport without being sexually assaulted because I have metal in my body.

THIS IS NOT WHAT I SACRIFICED MY LIFE FOR.

Hows about you share why YOU are protesting. I think the majority on this site don't even know what the protests are about, yet blindly cheerlead from the sidelines because it goes against 'TPTB'. I have my reasons for supporting the protesters, but I would like to hear yours first.

Edit to say; Thanks for sharing.

If I could afford to put my life on hold and protest at Wall Street, my reasons would be the moral hazard of having 'capitalism' with a safety net for those groups that are in collusion with government. That is corporatism.

I would protest any solutions that are given to us by our government because they only help the government itself and those that take advantage of the government like the large banks and corporations.

I would protest any solution that promoted socialism because it would give even more power to the a-holes that have mismanaged it so far.

I would protest using violence and coercion as a means to solve societal ills.

How about why I am not protesting.
We know the bankers are the problem so if you were a big banker and wanted to eliminate the competition, you would lead the people down the path of a modern day run (eliminate) the banks. This would allow you to create the One World Bank that the bankers always wanted, and get it by leading the people to do it, thinking they got the change they wanted.

I would say that it is a shame that most people who protest such things use the logic of the film actors guild....

I apologize to those that do not get this.

I don't think the bankers are really the problem. A banker is just a person, corruption is the real problem IMO. You wouldn't kill a person for having cancer, you eliminate the disease.

Money can only spread so far, and unfortunately there a few people who are just down-right greedy.
Always remember that $1 trillion is the equivalent to each US citizen holding $3 257.
And that is why I would protest, just throwing that out there

My husband and I are good people. Home owners, tax payers, working household, parents. My husband goes to work for two weeks straight out of three without coming home. He does this to keep our heads above water. Food is going up, gas is going up, interset is going up, tolls are going up, bank fees are going up. We pay a huge amout of taxes every week. Some of which are for "retirement" that we will never see. We will never be able to save for our kids future at this rate. Its not just the bankers, its the whole system. But, I feel like OWS is a good start for what needs to happen. They are keeping us in this feast or famine life style, and its not fair because WE keep this country moving, not them. The garbage men, the contractors, the truck drivers, the ship workers, the warehouse labors, the nurses, the teachers, ect.. Its a constant struggle for GOOD people. I know I'm tired of it, that's for sure.

I've heard a lot of people asking what their goals are and what they are attempting to prove.

Here is their main point as I see it:

1. Everyone knows that politicians are for sale to the highest bidder.
2. By extention this means our political system is for sale.
3. Less than 1% of Americans control enough wealth to purchace a politician.
4. Therefore 99% of American's have no real influence in our political socio-economic system.

America is supposed to a country of the people, by the people and for the people... Not the rich and influential.

Our representatives are supposed to have our best interest at heart.

That is why we are the 99%. (And by definition if you are an American and earn less than $200,000 per year you also are part of the 99%.)

(Most of these figures come from 2007. Average income per family : Bottom 90% $31,244... Top 1-10% $164,647... Top 1% $1,137,684 and above. motherjones.com...)
