Oh LilDrummerboy our Lord we freshman heed your word of the world and universe...and since thy disobey your whining will thou be banished to ATS Hell?

IF you read the post it asked for your feedback but your a typical arrogant, know-it-all...instead of providing input you sit behind your computer screen chomping on Doritos looking for attention...if you can't provide an intelligent thread with considerate feedback...you should not be allowed to participate. I'm betting the "lil" implies something than just a name, right?

With ya on that. I have been a Soho/Stereo watcher for a few years, and have seen more than 20 comets hit the sun.
Some big, some not so big, but it is a regular phenomenon, and well documented by the satellite's scientific staff.

To post events for peer benefit is different than owning a phenomena. That is why there is a search function.
That said, I've been guilty of it before, and it is probably a common wetfoot ritual of passage on ATS.

OK people really? Our sun is a massive spacial body (compared to the earth). It, like the earth, is impacted by multitudes of objects ranging from dust particles to meteors and very occasionally comets. Do you really think aliens have become depressed at the state of their existance and are suiciding into our host star?Or do you think our sun is maybe under attack by a malevolent group of extra terrestrials harvesting space rocks and the like, and hurling them in to our Sun? Get a clue. Do just a little bit of thinking. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME,EVERYWHERE IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE.
Just waitin for the flamin im gonna get for this...

Who said anything about aliens? My assessment on your post? -DERAILING

Extraterrestrials? Same. -DERAILING

Get a clue? Yeah, I have one for you... -DERAILING

Do a little bit of thinking? Hmm... Have you? Apparently not since you derailed this thread so badly. I'm waiting til your post is nullified and made Off Topic by our mods.

Happens EVERYWHERE in the universe? FINALLY yeah that makes sense to cover your pathetic jibberish.

So where am I going with this?

Well, what I see here is an object hitting the sun as viewed by the SOHO. I'm sure we are all on terms with that one. That point was made and I'm glad this thread went that far.

The BIGGER question everyone seems to be missing and overlooking is that 6 HOURS were cut from the one video I viewed. SO>>>>>

If this

Originally posted by unsteadystate HAPPENS ALL THE TIME,EVERYWHERE IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE..

Then WHY would it be so important to remove 6 hours of this footage that is generally natural for the sake of argument. People yap their chap missing the more important reason for keeping this thread alive. What was so important that the SOHO videos were cut/deleted/missing for 6 hours. Questions are never wrong, but you Unsteadystate are dismissing an important element to discussing and wiping your mouth with off topic posts. Doesn't help. Enjoy the flames... You very well deserved them. =D

Come on people, think. There's a reason for everything. Now it's time to speculate the REASON, not the HOW.

Ok, I'll bite on that.
Soho posts this stuff pseudo-realtime as a public service for those that find it scientifically interesting.

The public, or webcast version of the stream is derived from a much higher density data stream that is the core of the output from the satellite.

They are not chartered to do this realtime public streaming, by contract, but do it because they certainly have the interest and obviously it is a really cool thing to offer a webcam on the sun.

Major astrological sites that scientifically analyze this data, get the core dedicated feeds, probably frame relay, along with a stream of text data not delivered to the website.

I would say, that this object was so interesting to them that they later detached the core data stream for further analysis.

It is quite possible that they never thought to put it back into the archive that produces the web imaging, because , after all, it had already been published and the focus of the websiite is to stream and archive new data.

I will bet you, that if you sent a letter to them and requested that last 6 hours, you would get a good answer, and perhaps they would even give you the video. There are so many astronomical sites in the world that probably archive off that feed, that it is available many other places as well.

Just an IMHO, and not thinking that SOHO is in any conspiracy plot to deny scientific research on it's mission, which is payed for by US tax dollars.

Great points!! I posted this to get intelligent feedback. It's insane when you want to include people on a serious thread and they act like a bunch morons and fill in illusion conversations with alien invasions and other immature babble!!

There are clear facts here: A large object hit the sun causing a major CME. This is the first time I've seen a phenomenon like this but I'm sure there are ATSers who have seen this and their INTELLIGENT feedback is important.
