To afford our users essentially the same ability to use their uploaded pictures anywhere online, we're using our "Content Delivery Network" which is the same high-performance multi-server international "cloud" we use for our videos and all other graphics on ATS. Once something is "pushed" to this cloud, it's not on any one hard drive, making routine deletion rather difficult.
The provider has a "beta" version of an API that will enable us to programatically purge the cloud's cache of specific files, but it's not quite ready for prime-time. As soon as we're satisfied with the functionality, we will be offering the ability to delete uploaded images.
For now... don't upload anything you may need to soon delete.
