I am not arguing at all, I am commenting on a thread. I have been reading through it since it began.

I see many here complaining that fail to see the big picture, just trying to point out a few reasons for the complaints being made.

I thought that's what the forum was about.

The vague and broad complaints of these protestors takes attention away from the real concerns of the people who are looking for work every single day and can't find any. The people calling to have their student loans forgiven, their mortgages forgiven, their credit card debt forgiven. Get a job. If you are actually trying to get a job and can't then that AND ONLY THAT is worthy of complaint.

"Vague and broad complaints?" I might point out that you are making a BROAD claim by assuming that all of these protestors are looking for a free ride! Where are you getting the idea that these protestors do not include those who are unemployed and can't find a job?

Its a sad day in our country when people get beaten and arrested for wagging their fingers at the crooked bastards in charge.

Yeah because that's what's going on...

Oh yeah look at the gray haired guy with the cane, yup he looks like a looter looking to exploit the situation.

People lost their minds or is it just plain stupidity????

Really I want to see one case of looting...oh wait there isn't any...
Bye bye Troll.

Do you not realize that one of the main points of this protest is about corporations TAKING JOBS FROM AMERICANS AND SENDING THEM OVERSEAS?

THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF THE DRIBBLE YOU ARE SPEWING! Do you honestly not realize that? Do a little research before you "stereotype".

You got me laaaaaaaaaughin'. So, this is about PEOPLE dictating what other business owners decide to do with their own business? Are you telling me, that corporations don't have the right to take their businesses elsewhere....for the sake of THEIR business? Apparently, YOU don't have a business....nor do you know what it takes to run one.

Newsflash: business owners have to do what's best for their business....NOT YOURS! It's nothing personal...it's just business! The real problem is this: people have been FOOLISH with their lives, and now....it's biting them in the ass!!! Perhaps people should stop blaming OTHERS for their woe's. Corporations don't have to stay in a place, that is SUCKING THEM DRY. Face it.....the rest of the people in this world...work for pennies on the dollar, and put in 16 hour days...while Americans sit on their FAT LAZY ASSES and do nothing...while making tons of money.

Sounds to me...like the scales are being balanced. The reason why these corporations have left...is because Americans are way too expensive and demanding to keep. They actually sue their employer because they got 29 minutes for lunch...and not a full 30....like the law says. They use ANY excuse to make a quick buck. Now, you tell me....who's right and who's wrong?!

You are wrong on literally everything you wrote. You do not have any idea of the dynamics of international trade and you apparently forgot that there are supposed to be tariffs on imported goods. That is one problem- these companies want to move production overseas to boost their profits, but then they want to be recognized as American companies and pay no tariffs.

Also, you are wrong about people in other countries working for pennies 16 hours a day. That is total bunk. The only people doing that are the slaves being "employed" by American, South American and Chinese companies located in China and South America. (and malaysia, thailand, etc)

The reason the jobs are going overseas is because the FED devalues the dollar, the government legislates ridiculous regulation, and taxes are unfair due to a corrupt system and waste of the corrupt system. TPTB stack the deck to favor some...and own them....WallStreet is not the enemy

Let's keep ourselves rooted in reality. Jobs go overseas because we can pay a little Chinese boy $1.00 a day to make Air Jordans, and pay dudes named Sanji, that claim their name is Bob, $2.00 an hour to help you fix your Dell. Big tariffs might help, but I don't care anymore. This planet needs the nuclear reset button pressed.

I don't understand the point behind this. What is filing the street rabid anti-capitalists going to accomplish? Wall St is too big to stop that way. What's needed are people who're smart enough to take this to capital hill, not to the streets. Taking it to the streets just appeals to the dumbest people and gives the whole cause a bad face. Besides, the housing bubble started in government - to give low-income access to housing loans. The blame is on physics of bubble creation.

This is just a distraction. It's an excuse to punch the rich man. Stupid waste of time.

The mortage problem was NOT that people could not afford the mortgages. The problem was the ARMs. When a person's mortgage goes from $1100 to $2500, that creates a hardship. All the banks needed to do was keep interest rates where they were, but no, they are greedy and wanted more, more, more, just like the bankers always do. They are born with some kind of mental sickness that makes them think they are more deserving than other people.

I never understood why interest rates would drop, yet ARMs supposedly tied to prime would go up. Call me stupid, but it makes no sense to me...banks pay less for their money, but charge more to loan it out. They are crooks, and that is the point of OWS.

ALL Americans sitting on their fat asses? I don't think so! I've seen the small businesses close their doors one by one. I've seen corporations set up house on every corner and drive the small business OUT of business. The middle class is hurting in America and it's not like it was in the 70s. There are hundreds of young students looking for jobs and the population has blossomed to what it is today, because of open borders. This will only get worse. I don't like to see violence either, and I think the question is truly "What is the government going to do about it!" We've basically been sold out to China by big corporations to make that extra dime, but I've also seen American citizens give their money to corporations to save a dime rather than support their local businesses. Wal-mart city it is! If food prices keep rising, we are going to see much worse.

I also want to add 15 days without violence from the crowd, Absolutely NO VIOLENCE from the protestors, that seems pretty damn significant to me. This may be will get violent, but, so far there is no proof at all it will. There's no reason to believe it will and there's also no reason to beleive many Americans won't see this and take it to "Capital Hill" as if that will do a damn bit of good anyway, since "Capital Hill" is bought and paid for by Wall st anyway. We need new politicians...we need Smart ones, not puppets and puppetmasters...and if someone here don't beleive the puppet masters are on Wall street, then go back to bed no amount of Coffee is gonna wake your Butt up!!!!

Everyone asking why they started there and not with this Government are wrong, You start with the masters and then go after the puppets it's really simple logic if you have an ounce of brain cells left.

I was actually very specific in my complaint. "The people calling to have their student loans forgiven, their mortgages forgiven, their credit card debt forgiven".

I was equally specific in stating that people who are actually seeking employment and unable to find it have a valid complaint.

Read some of the other threads that have popped up here, hand in hand with the whole Occupy thing. Too many people want a free ride. And I don't intend my tax dollars to give it to them.

These protests are not specific or targeted. They will accomplish nothing except to marginalize the legitimate concerns of Americans who have always worked hard but who are currently unable to obtain employment despite their best efforts.

If the main point of the protest was about outsourcing of U.S. jobs, about protesting free trade which means that there are NOT supposed to be tariffs anymore, I would be all in. But while that may be the part that resonates with you (and with me) it is hardly the main point. It is thrown in with a lot of other stuff that is unrelated and which I would and do not stand behind.

I completely agree with you about the problem of American branding of foreign made goods. I have posted about that very issue in numerous threads. But I don't think this protest is targeted to this problem.

Nothing but the very most expensive things are made in the USA anymore....
You can by a gibson, fender, you name it guitar and read it was produced in taaiwan, or mexico, or a host of other placves...India makes fender strats for petes sake!
this is partly because of GATT and other agreements of international business and treatys of goverments, that the corporations are having to move offshore...
They are in for the bottom line alright, but its the goverment of the people that sets the regulations and parameters of business not the other way around.
Corporations should feel priviledged to be allowed to be in business at all....They have gotten to the point of running the goverment to their adantage at times.
Big CEOs and high corporate officers move seemlessly from goverment office to private business and back all the while the corpoartions get favoured status for their enterprises which may be harmful to the populace at large in many ways.
The game is FIXED dont you people get that?
If you are not in you are out.
Out means welfare, bread lines, no medical treatments , no ental but a cheap pair of chinese pliers.
Its not that the poor are unpatriotic, see by the amount of KIA.and wounded comming hoome....
Its that they do not make enough money to buy american!
Cheap breakable shyte from foriegn countries has to do because they cannot afford the real goods.!

Being 23 and selfmade, I know and have seen the american work ethic diminish into nothing. Take a peek at these "protestors." They are my age and literally are against the system. They are not asking what they can do for their government but are just grabbing for more. Talk about greed, they only need to look in there mirror.

By the way, I personally flew out to NYC last week to see this so called revolution and spoke with them. Do you truly believe the guy in the front was not self proclaimed socialist, guess again.

Oh my. 23 whole years old are we?

How cute.

Listen Beaver, when you've doubled that tally you can have a real idea about what it means to be "self made". Right now, you're just shy of figuring out how to make a mess of your life, but don't worry, that mess is coming. Especially with that Top Gun syndrome you've got. Hell, it wasn't all that long ago that you mastered toilet usage, you little imp, you.

If this protest doesn't work, then you best never show up in NYC again - or anywhere else where there are financial centers in this country. This has been building for a lot of years, and after watching the Arabs tear their autocratic systems to pieces, the underclass has finally realized just how tenuous the hold is that the rich have on all that wealth and power. Those kids are trying to vent some of that rising pressure by forcing a win of some sort (any win will calm the anger, since no one really wants heads stuffed on Wall St. parking meters if it can be avoided).

If the idiots with the money don't smarten up quick, the whole thing will spin on them, and it'll be their own damn fault. Then you'll be free to point your precious little finger at the real monsters that are just outside of the camera shot, and condemn them for how brutal they're being with those pasty-white money handlers and all the people that have been supporting them.

This protest is the very last shot at preventing a full blown run through hell for all of us. If this fails, look out below. One thing's for sure, if this doesn't ease the pressure, you won't be self made or self anything. Your money will evaporate, your job will disappear, and all that capacity that you think you've achieved by the power of your own excellence will seem like a bad joke that God's been playing on you. Trust me, unless you die in the first wave, you'll hate every arrogant word you ever spat at people like those protesters. Even if the rank and file doesn't know what's going on, the organizers do. This is about venting pressure, and it better work or we're going to have a real bad winter.

I don't know what the situation in New York is at the Federal Reserve building, but these protests are being planned to include the Federal Reserve buildings across America according to what several Internet sites are reporting. In my state, protests have begun in San Francisco as of yesterday and the organizers are publicly announcing they are headed for the Federal Reserve building in the next couple of days.
