As a combat veteran was your war fought on pure logic? Was it not drilled into you to reach for raw emotion in order to complete missions? What combat have you seen? Do you go back to Vietnam?

Nope, I'm an OIF and OEF veteran. And no - we don't reach for "raw emotion". We train, and we train hard. And yes, fighting in combat is more logic than emotion. Before you even leave the gate, you've done 2-3 hours of prep that day. You systematically check your weapons, your equipment, your vehicles, and your "buddies" - because there's no way in hell you want to put yourself in harm's way if you haven't logically and systematically eliminated any possible thing that might trip you up. Training is also methodical and logical - because you absolutely MUST be able to draw from your training once things start blowing up. You logically and methodically train yourself to encounter fear, panic, anger, sadness - you name it - so that when things start blowing up you can push them aside and do your job.

In order to complete missions, you must methodically and logically PLAN those missions. Who is the enemy? Where was he yesterday and what did he do? What route am I going to take? What are my ROE? What's the weather going to be like? What do I need to take with me? Who am I taking with me? And on, and on, and on. If your only "combat exposure" comes from Hollywood, then I can see where you might think "raw emotion" is what we draw from. That statement is VERY far from the truth.

That's the difference between a professional fighting force and a bunch of terrorists.

You'll find an earlier post of mine which is the basis for this one...

Grunts are drilled to recite, repeat, and recycle combat instincts. You find a level of planning involved for every battle, but those are typically reserved for the policy makers. Killing another human being is made methodical via servitude to a direct superior who will beat the living sh!t out of you (or simply make life miserable) by default. It is at this point two modes are installed (personalities) running in tandem arrangement to cognitive ability and self-recognition.

1. Detach emotion and focus strictly on the combat training.

2. Utilize emotion with deterrent effect on higher reasoning.

One of our most recent Medal Of Honor recipients could relay this information with a more personal touch. His claim to fame is a suicide mission to save fellow soldiers. There's no reasoning behind carrying a dead man's gun. In essence, it goes against survival, and yet... He charged forward. He'll tell you he's not a hero, and he's right... He's human and had notched up emotion. The combat training did the rest. Not a Hollywood script here, so if you haven't heard the story, I suggest you listen. Take notes... Let me know, if you would dig a hole in the same spot, or have any say-so while it was originally being dug.

Unless you want to tell me killing another human being is natural... Then don't worry about your response.

You've reached the ripe old age where you forget to snag breakfast... Drink some Gatorade for electrolytes. Something ain't firing right. By your own statement: Radical Socialist.

Post

You paint broad strokes of a dead man first off. Secondly, you're labeling based off rival input now that you'd have us believe your views are to be held entirely separate. You continue to take poetry published under the 'International Socialist Review' as further proof of the man's motives in life.

Source

Phillip Yannella
Niven
Van Wienen

How is your source any different from JP Morgan trash talking Nikola Tesla? You must realize opinions are as numerous as aholes, so again... Let's put things in proper context.

A good portion of my writing is found on Above Top Secret. Your opinion of ATS? I'm sure there's a few labels to choose from. Focus and you'll draw from the inference.

The poem I refer to speaks volumes of God. Upon closer inspection you'll find Universal Principles embedded. His choice of words are both subtle and exacting.

And this...

Social media sites and video games weren't prevalent in the early 1900's.

You wasted an entire paragraph on blatant sarcasm then challenged my intellect inside the joke you didn't catch. Further proof you don't have your wits about you. I have to stop and ask... What is your malfunction?

Light in the pants evolved into... No balls. Even with your limited perception the parallel shouldn't go unnoticed.

yes, i'm old but my memory is still sharp ... everything is working just fine and i don't even take meds ... perhaps it's your synapse sequences that are misfiring ?

Sandburg was what he was ... a radical socialist ... why are you having a problem with the facts? (ummmm, never mind ... i know how facts are received by those like yourself)

i didn't paint any 'image' of dead man ... he created the image he possesses. What do you expect? ... am i supposed to overlook the obvious so you won't be offended?

i am not arguing the motives of his life's work but you seem to want to so feel free ... his work speaks for itself.

i am not here to debate sources, you don't like that one, i'm positive i can find another and another and probably One you may find acceptable ... what point are you making with this nonsense?
there is no context to discuss. you posted a piece like it actually applies to this mess and i challenged Your choice of writers ... there are plenty of non-socialist poets you could have quoted but didn't ... that is the only point in this banter.

and, what does my opinion of ATS have to do with your choice of writings? ~~ nothing
i didn't quote CS, you did.
and btw, your deflection skills are certainly lacking if this is all you got.

maybe your god but it's awfully presumptuous of you to assume anything more than that.
what do websites and video games have to do with the early 1900s ??
oh yeah ... deflection. if that was a joke, it sure needs some work.

nothing i write is a waste ... who are you to assume otherwise?
so, my opinion is only valuable IF you say so??
well isn't that just classic megalomania.

if you think my wits are lacking, try me ... i doubt you have the skill to complete the task.
what malfunction? my parts are working just fine, all of them ... how you doin?

now how is it that i have limited perception just because you used slang that has changed in the last 50yrs ???
wow, that's really some imbalance there but you keep trying ... you might find a pair of pants eventually, but in the meantime i'd donate a skirt cause you seem to be huffin something but it ain't air.

i don't speak in euphemisms ... if i think you have no balls, i'll say so ... no beating around the bush necessary.
perhaps if you were as succinct as Sandburg, we wouldn't be having this misunderstanding, would we?

either way, IF only you knew ... but, that's an adult and a personal conversation ... sorry, but you would have to leave the room

Again, I was being facetious... I was also hoping the photo of Betty White might narrow it down for you. I don't require a personal conversation. I'm no where near a rotary phone anyhow.

NO, you were being rude, nasty and as vile as you could get away with ... too bad you don't have any real weapons ... i mean, wit in your arsenal ... you might be dangerous.

good, cause i'm relatively sure you wouldn't know where to put your fingers if you did.

Thats my whole feel of this The people are barkng up the wrong street. What are they trying to do take the money back from the bank. The bank figured out a way to steal this money legally. There is the catch legally! This protest movement that have you needds to be movedd about 500 miles south. This whole thing should be directed atnd based in Washington D.C. Where any selfrespecting nationwide movement should be based. The Government is at fault. We need wallstreet and the banks good or bad we need these systems. The law can be fought. These protesters need to reorganize head to washington when congress and the house are in session (The whole session) and get in there on a daily basis and change the law. They have proven they have the people who are willing to and have the time to do this for the rest of the American people who cant.

Less risk of violence.... It's a good thing.

It's a BAD thing ... violence WAS the only thing that could have SAVED this movement. It was the only thing, that could have made those of value, turn and support them, and make this into something that will give positive results.

Now, you just moved faster down the road to dictatorship ... instead of out.

This is an example of a person, with a total irrational view of thinking. You can't accomplish this, not in a million years ... and because you have no way of focusing what you want, and what you need ... you become the tool of your enemies, and make BAD things for the rest of us.

What WE NEED, is turn the tide of the past 12 years ... and return some of the freedoms and jobs, that were outsourced and taken away.

Only through the freedoms, can you ever hope to accomplish anything of significant value ... without those freedoms, you are and always will be a slave. You are basically saying to everyone, you want to be a camelriding nomad in the desert, and basically you can buy yourself a CAMEL and go ride in the desert, you have no right to take the rest of us with you ... and NOBODY will support you, except drunkards and junkies, who don't really know what they want anyway. So, because you don't know what you are saying ... somebody takes over ... and you are screwed and the rest of us are screwed.

Next time, think this through ...

I would like to address you further, but some folks require an ego bashing or some type of embarrassment to get it through their thick skull. You certainly fit this cross section of society. Perhaps we're on the same page with the phrase: Whatever floats your boat.

My facetiousness is only tip of the iceberg. I've laid into my parents fairly hardcore in the past. Everything is evolving. My advice to you and everyone else would be develop a more expansive personality to process the World we live in, or simply relinquish the filters. What you project is your range of knowledge, and ultimately what you don't understand is everybody's problem. We function best as a family unit, hence, we have Occupy Movements Nationwide now. I hope someone closer to you will fill in the rest of the gaps.

The poem speaks for itself... His words, his frame of reference, and the parameter he possessed came together for a glimpse of Eternal Power and Divinity. Try reading this with the "I" in check.

I AM the people--the mob--the crowd--the mass.
Do you know that all the great work of the world is
done through me? I am the workingman, the inventor, the
maker of the world's food and clothes.

I am the audience that witnesses history. The Napoleons
come from me and the Lincolns. They die. And
then I send forth more Napoleons and Lincolns.
I am the seed ground. I am a prairie that will stand
for much plowing. Terrible storms pass over me.
I forget. The best of me is sucked out and wasted.
I forget. Everything but Death comes to me and
makes me work and give up what I have.
And I forget.

Sometimes I growl, shake myself and spatter a few red
drops for history to remember. Then--I forget.
When I, the People, learn to remember, when I, the
People, use the lessons of yesterday and no longer
forget who robbed me last year, who played me for
a fool--then there will be no speaker in all the world
say the name: "The People," with any fleck of a
sneer in his voice or any far-off smile of derision.
The mob--the crowd--the mass--will arrive then.

-Carl Sandburg (1878-1967)

There's also a Universal System to support the poem... Welcome to it.

Something about a pot and a kettle springs to mind.

As long as people believe they can't they indeed won't.
that's the whole differance between the so called elite and the 99% people speak off.
The elite believe/know they can and the rest believe what they are told.

I am absolutely disgusted, by the actions of the Police Forces in the USA. No longer does the US have any right to criticise other countries over human rights. While they are violating their own citizens rights.

This is shocking. Plus the next footage:

how do YOU know what he has or doesn't? And what is so special about YOU that you get to decide what is fair?

Maybe he isn't rich, maybe like me, he is just an average person that believes steal things people have worked for and EARNED is wrong.....

Who is doing the deciding what is a fair piece of pie? The ones who have no life experience??

Seems pretty unfair to me

Because he is referring to a global community of which the USA has more than its fair share of the pie... Please stop throwing your toys out the pram... Even if you are not rich by American standards you are still well off by global standards...

stop complaining...

I'm a few months from being old enough to draw social security and have lived on both sides of the tracks that divide the haves from the have nots... It has always amazed me how the wealthy have needs for prestigious things like Rolex watches and top of the line automobiles and love to look down on those that don't have the same need... They are also much less likely to come to the aid of a person whose car has broken down on the side of the road on a cold night than a person that isn't of the same ilk as their selves... They are completely lacking in compassion and morality and very likely to sit at the club after a game of golf and brag about taking financial advantage of honest people with less money... It is time for the majority to stand up to these creeps that are taking from us and doing very little to benefit anyone but themselves....
