Not military, just sayin

Again, not military... The last thing you want is a 6'3" - 265lb. jacked up Combat Controller punching you in the spine. I took another shot to the upper cheek, but I happened to knock the guy onto concrete flooring. I gained a little respect too.

The thing you might not understand... Even when they're not thinking the programming is there to act on instinct.

I absolutely agree training is key. There is a huge difference between focused aggression and some young adult being *MAD*

Soldiers aren't MAD but they have been trained to focus their aggression to become the sharp end of the spear

I full well believe this group could become violent, but they are not trained. They may be manipulated and riled up, but if they go off....they are just gonna be MAD... it would be a riot...and, they would get hurt, possibly killed.

I think the military guys down there are not so much being part of the protest, more like witnesses to abuses, should any occur. I might be wrong but I wouldn't expect the Marines to show up to shield the protestors. If the authorities get out of line when the crowd is being peaceful and law abiding... they wont need the Marines, their fellow citizens will comma runnin

No one wants to see them hurt

Just look at how the cops duped them onto the bridge..... They have much to learn if they want to make positive change.

If TPTB are instigating/funding it then they want nothing more than for the crowd to go off... Lots of peeps realize that simple fact.

To me the entire situation is not about military expertise or raw emotion... it's about we the people being squeezed. Cool heads need to prevail

Unfortunately, you didn't read the poem in context. I'd also let the man speak for himself. Perhaps those that write about you will say you're a "labeler," a "labelist," or even "Fox Junkie." In any event... I hope I don't find myself agreeing with those terms based on your tender tidbit of a performance. Your friends might think you're a little light in the pants, but I'll do my best to give you the benefit of the doubt.

Fortunately, i've read books dedicated to his poetry ... not just one ... seems your education is lacking.
luckily, many ppl let the man speak for himself, (in print even) that's why he never got too far with his "plan".

those of you with barely a 4th grade education (even though you may hold a *degree*) sure do show your colors when cornered, don't you?

sticks and stones sweetie ... sticks and stones ... names/labels are plentiful and less than painful.
fyi - i don't even have cable ... i get my info from multiple sources in multiple places throughout the world ... you should try it sometime.

for the record, i've always been a bit "light in the pants" but i was built this way, what's your excuse?
my, my aren't you just gracious ... now, why don't you try being grateful

oh yeah, that's right, they don't teach that anymore, do they?

ps: the next time you choose to engage me in an "intellectual" discussion, you might want to bring your brain along for the ride

thanks and i'll take that twisted sense of reality and add a dose of euphemism ... courtesy Quentin Crisp

Euphemisms are not, as many young ppl think, useless verbiage for that which can and should be said bluntly; they are like secret agents on a delicate mission, they must airily pass by a stinking mess with barely so much as a nod of the head.
example from the Assembly -- "jobs are a right"

and, i cannot consciously leave out some of the best quotes ever ... courtesy George Carlin

A house is just a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get more stuff.

or ...

By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth.

or ... one of my absolute favorites ...

I put a dollar in a change machine. Nothing changed.

point being, this change machine is one the wrong corner, accepting foreign monies and changing nothing.

What makes them smart is knowing WHEN to throw the punch and what/who to fight for

The poster wasn't implying smart people don't kick butt, only that when the macho attitude comes into play it's generally because words, reason and intellect have failed them, so they fall back on *raw emotion*

So much wisdom in the wisdom to know the difference....

The wisest man I ever knew taught me to NEVER tell someone you are about to hit them.

Any updates on the situation from the scene? Are the numbers growing or shrinking? Are the police still cooperating or losing patience? Are the Union supporters supposed to arrive later today still? What other towns have any significant turnout of numbers?

Where are our NYers? Give us the real skinny! We don't want that MSM crap!

Growing.. The movement is about to be hijacked into a political movement, with a large influx of unions members and organizers... The void of leadership will be filled.

They will now become the "tea party" of the far-left.

In other words, the original motives, and intent have been trumped. It belongs to others now.

There's the pot calling the kettle black. You label Sanburg yourself as a radical socialist then proceed to select quote from his literary adversaries. Now I'm being accused of labeling as the focal point of your retort? That reverse shoveling doesn't achieve much once you've dug yourself a large enough hole. Speaking of holes...

Of course I was correct in my assumption pertaining to light in the pants. A cinch to nail down in this case. And since your mindset is that of a darling in your own right, I'm sure you lost track of behavioral traits indicative of males. When a man stands for something he often finds himself targeted by rivals. I'll let you figure out the rest, but just to add real fast... Social media sites and video games weren't prevalent in the early 1900's.

Be grateful I refrained from the intellectual jousting. You leave yourself wide open. This could mean you're loose or basically with a few screws loose... Judging by the emoticons and playground idioms the choice is break even.

I think this is a two fold dilemma though. On one hand it bites, on the other....the smart ones in the crowd will learn and have their eyes opened a bit more..... Those are the ones I think matter the most...THOSE are the ones that have the potential to bring REAL and lasting change.....this leftwing socialist agenda will never fly with the American people anyway.... The powers backing this movement at the moment want them to riot....it's the intended agenda all along.

We need to be talking to the protestors and their supporters, encouraging them not to give up *the cause* and show them how to see through the bs

This group was a manipulation from the start, not the youth...the money backing it. I think perhaps many of the protestors themselves are sincere in heart but spoon fed propaganda most of their lives in our public schools. Many taught by REAL socialists in Colleges around the country....but just LOOK at the level of education some of these poor kids ended up with. Some of the college students posting to threads on ATS have about 4-8th grade ability to communicate in writing and the only parts of their posts correctly spelled are the copy/pastes...I don't blame them for being pissed.

I think you can expect it to get ugly once the Unions show up. Hoffa Jr did say they are Obama's army after all....

Something I hope the protestors will consider when the Unions begin to organize them is that Hoffa Sr disappeared for a REASON (if they even know anything about Jimmy Hoffa Sr) and it wasn't for his integrity or principles.

They never have found his body....You'd think Hoffa Jr would keep that in mind when he spouts off and basically declares war on part of the general public....

Army serviceman Ward Reilly posted the following on Facebook, “I'm heading up there tonight in my dress blues. So far, 15 of my fellow marine buddies are meeting me there, also in Uniform.

I want to send the following message to Wall St and Congress:

I didn't fight for Wall St. I fought for America. Now it's Congress' turn.

Occupy Wall Street BREAKING NEWS

LOOK AT WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW.. CAN YOU IMAGINE NEXT WEEKS HEADLINES...

Active duty Marines and Army service men and women do not have the luxury of attending protests... sorry. You give up the right for political voice in a public forum when you enlist.

And if you're active duty - good luck getting leave to go protest.

you are free to disagree however, i have to ask ... since these people are "some of the smartest people you know" ... why then did they resort to brutal, primal, aggressive acts ??
it would seem their brain function was impinged, eh?

inherently, we are all animals ... the ability and intellect necessary to rise above that animal instinct is what makes the human such a wonderful, complete and exciting creation ... tis a shame so many refuse to see it.

wow, talk about imbalanced ... where is this "quote" you claim i used ??

and i didn't "label" Sandburg, he labeled himself by the script he contributed ... here ...

Sandburg's output of poetry and prose was significant in 1915. In addition to his steady coverage of labor and politics for The Day Book (he took on the Rockefellers, Hearst, Marshall Field, Chicago Mayor "Big Bill" Thompson, the city police and the Bell Telephone monopoly from April to December in that year alone), he was contributing regular articles and occasional poetry to the International Socialist Review, published from 1900 to 1918 by the Chicago socialist publisher Charles Kerr.

and, he didn't contribute to any other political affiliation, concept or publication.
Those are the choices, he made, not me.
from same source above ...

These sources are interspersed with one another, roughly following the timeline of Sandburg's radical politics in the 1910s, so as to highlight matters both of debate and of consensus in recent scholarship on the subject of Sandburg's radical politics.

so, i am merely quoting what has been previously declared by others and himself ... how is that my doing?

your assumptions are so far off base they aren't even deserving a response ... however, this one goes a bit too far ...

Social media sites and video games weren't prevalent in the early 1900's.

for the record, there weren't ANY sites or video games in the early 1900s ... matter of fact, there wasn't any Wiki or internet either ... so, can we agree that the "media" of the day was mostly print and radio ???
or is that too big a leap for your limited intellect?

trust me, you don't have the skills to engage in an intellectual debate with many, self included.
and btw, who are you to judge anyone ????

oh, and because we are clearly from different generations, what exactly do you mean by "light in the pants" ??
in my day ... that referred to being light weight and since i never eclipsed 100lbs, i am light in the pants.
what's your point?
