Thank you for your post. You are quite right in your comments. For anyone who may not know this there are demonstrations going on all over the country except for a few states. I am sure they will probably join in shortly. Anyone interested it it occupytogether.org. It will give the listings among other information.

Hmmm? This attendance by the US Marines in uniform could bite them when they get back to base.

Active duty military told no uniforms in protests

Military guidelines state that troops may attend demonstrations only in the United States, only when they are off base and off duty, and, most critically, only when they are out of uniform.

They had better be careful. For the most part, I have not paid much attention to this protest, their message, or activities on Wallstreet. They seem like your usual socialist and communist lot? Spread the wealth, eat the rich, and so on as so forth. They ought go back to their coffee shops or college campuses to spew spew their propaganda. I agree the little guy is getting raked over the coils. I had that feeling long before these protesters left Long Island and the Hamptons to occupy Wallstreet. Who are they kidding? Go back to Starbucks or entertain themselves with their smartphones and IPads. They are just looking for attention, and I would be amazed if these activists truly come from the lifestyles they claim to be in support of. Very skeptical about this engagement on Wallstreet. I guess I am a perpetual cynic? As for these Marines, if they are on active duty it would be in their best interests to use caution before proceeding.

Sorry, but that is the problem, you say, 'I have not paid much attention to....' yet are quick to stereotype everything about it. I'm really sorry, but that is one of the key problems with our society, no one thinks for themselves or bothers to research any specific issue before making a proclamation to exactly how it is. I do always love how socialism and communism are always lumped into the same arguments. Social programs are always bad, very bad things they are, especially when social security is the only thing keeping the senior citizens in their homes when the wall street gangs have either stolen their money or botched the stock market. Social programs are just wrong.

The only Marines or Army personnel headed to Occupy Wall Street are those who may choose to do so by their own volition.... Plain & Simple.

To be honest,
Chances are ... any that do so 'in dress uniform' ... will likely face administrative action 'upon return to base'

... not saying it'd be right or wrong ... just saying.

If they violate the law they will be handled and/or dealt with accordingly .... just as you, I or anyone else would and should be.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm all about organized opposition to corporate influence(s) in our nations' capitol, policies and politics on the whole ...
BUT ... don't expect a 'call of arms' for all who can attend to result in anything more than what we've seen so far ...
unfortunate and negative interactions with law enforcement
mostly due to the same ... lack of organization, overall focus and prior planning.
the apparent inability of ALL those in attendance to heed and observe the same
*lesson of the day, imo*
you can't mix those whose focus is that of eliminating corporate influence in government with those who take an issue with authority on the whole.
it's gonna result in 'bad soup' no mater how you cook it.
... too much 'militancy' in the latter for the former to ever realize the 'voice' desired, imo.
John Titor said the next civil war would start in 2011.... This is giving me chills. I had given up on him as a fraud but this is making me think twice.. perhaps he was not a hoax after all.
I still believe Socialism is just a gateway to Communism. As for social programs who said I was against them? I never once mentioned social programs. They serve their purpose, and as long as they are properly funded. At present they seem to be doing more harm than good? They are facing fiscal paralysis and not only social security but other programs. That discussion is for another time.
I am not buying the propaganda by these protesters. Let me reiterate, I may not be following them like your usual sports team or sitcom, but I have seen here and there what they are saying and doing. I am on the fence about them. I recall reading and hearing about eating the rich and distributing the wealth. Standard ideology of the radical left. Now, I could be wrong in my assessment, but that is what I have seen thus far. I have no quarrels about the protesters and that is their right, but their message gets not traction with me. Thanks for your reply, but I have to agree to disagree.
If they are only going to charge them with being in uniform when they were not supposed to be. I do not see that as being a detriment to their military career. It would only be a slap on the hand and maybe a small fine. They certainly would not get dishonorably discharged, it would be a calculated risk I would be willing to take.
Who/What would be the 'true forces' and what would they be hoping to 'cook up', FF? ... just curious, a mere request for further clarity with regards the assertion (?)
Enjoy the soup.
I think it's actually step 1: remove your pants step 2: bend over. The removal of pants while bent over seems a bit difficult.
I think this song, the lyrics say it well. Like I said in an earlier post, I am not for the desired outcome of the original protestors left ideas and I do believe they are protesting the wrong enemy.
Still, we have to start with what we have to work with..... I think if more ppl like me would start talking TO these young people rather than talking at or down to them we could become more united!
I'm looking forward to the day the protestors against the FED show up in these numbers with this passion
Even if you are very Liberal and hate the Tea Party....listen to the words and ask yourself if you agree, or not
I can agree with that, and thank you for a decent retort. Like communism and socialism on paper, our social programs are fine. It is when the human factor gets in the mix, social security for example is not doing well because we keep taking from the pot to pay for other things, ie like wars. There is too much greed and corruption in the system to make them financially viable. We bailed out AIG a few years ago, we bailed them out because they took out multiple foreclosure insurance plans on the same property for entities that were not on the deed. The bail out paid off those insurance plans, but the actual deed holder was screwed. There are a number of articles on this where a single property would have 100 different foreclosure policies on it, everyone was betting it would be foreclosed upon and reap the profit. So that makes insurance a bad thing, because there are massive organizations out there screwing up the system. We(founding fathers) created a three party system for checks and balances, for oversight of itself....However, as the years go on, we continually scream for less government oversight of the corporate entities.....Look at health care, the argument is, 'how could you let some government worker be responsible for approving or denying your procedure?'.....Sorry, but I would trust a salaried gov employee with no stake in the race to make that decision based on the case vs. an insurance employee whose directly employed by the company that has to pay that bill.....Sorry, not much unbiased decision making with that one. We have allowed ourselves to get to this point, when we are wringing our hands hoping it doesn't turn violent, when we are responsible for allowing it to get to this point.....Every time we go to the ballot box(if we bother to go, shame on you who don't), we could actually elect people who are statesmen and not politicians. We have no one to blame but ourselves, and no one has an excuse....And it is now upon us to fix the situation, and that can still be handled peacefully and at a ballot box. However, as I said earlier, we need as a mass to throw off the veil of ignorance, and start taking the election process seriously.
Just out of curiousity, how much do you have to gain by maintaining the status quo? It's really easy to start calling people commies, but these Americans have gotten together and decided that the status quo has already ground them into stumps. They don't have anything to lose by changing the system. So just go on believing that these people are crazy commies and that corporatism is great... and if all you have is insults about commies, you're not really contributing.
