Century 1, Quatrain 67

The great famine which I sense approaching
Will often turn [up in various areas] then become worldwide.
It will be so vast and long-lasting that [people] will grab
Roots from the trees and children from the breast.

As we all know, thousands of people are facing life without little or no food in Sudan. Did Nostradamus see this as "The great famine" that is approaching our times?

There have been multiple "vast and long-lasting" famines. He could have been referring to any famine in the history of the world (well, after his prediction at least).

I think this is really more describing a GLOBAL famine. He was most concerned around events in France... Somehow I doubt a story that would barely make the back page of the papers today, would be of interest to him...

I think we have yet to see this one occur...but after some major cataclysm...

I'm sorry, but Nostradamus did for bull!@#$ what Stonehenge did for rocks. The guy was just a really creative writer. In today's world, he'd either be writing novels on par with Stephen King or Tom Clancy, or writing for the World Weekly News tabloid...

You should check into him a bit more before such accusations...

Centuries before, he wrote that someone surnamed DeGalle (sp?) will lead France 3 times. That is WAY more than guesswork, no matter how you slice it....
