I am biased in support of this movement. That said people are going full idiot on the meaning of this protest. Yes there are more left leaning voters but there are significant conservative and libertarian voters. The meaning is simple: Wall Street must account for their sins.
There is a chance the movement could get hijacked just like the tea party did, but I will support the movement while it is pure.
I will now speak a bit more bluntly. Anyone, unless they believe Wall Street (as opposed to main street) is innocent of any duty to society has no reason yet to not support the movement. Politics and social demonstrating is not a stupid sporting event. You have no duty or obligation to stand by your team. As long as you agree with the message now then why make an excuse to fight it? You can not only retract your view in the future, but switch sides!
Posting from my phone so sorry for grammatical and spelling mistakes.

No, I don't hate change. I just despise change "spreading the wealth" cloaked as "social justice and democracy". Change is the byword of Marxism and revolution.

some quotes by Marx

Democracy is the road to socialism.
From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.
The theory of Communism may be summed up in one sentence: Abolish all private property.

www.brainyquote.com...

Some more concepts of communism put forth by the ideas of Marx

In the first stages of socialism the state is a dictatorship of the proletariat., i.e the proletariat rules the other classes by force.
The socialist slogan is "From each according to his ability, to each according to his work."
The communist slogan is "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."
Communism, which evolves peacefully from socialism, is a classless society under which the state will wither away.

Capitalism normally is replaced by socialism as a consequence of a proletarian revolution.

Class hatred is a good thing and class collaboration is a bad thing.
The philosophy of Marxism calls itself dialectical materialism.

The materialism part is opposed to idealism and holds that the world is to be understood as matter in motion.

The dialectical part includes the transformation of quantity into quality, the dialectical process of thesis, antithesis and synthesis and the unity of opposites alias the contradictory tendencies of the thing.

tipping point is a new name for transformation of quantity into quality.

New classes usually win power by revolution. Revolutions are violent, because the dying ruling class doesn't give up power without a desperate struggle.

Then a socialist revolution occurs. Originally this was supposed to occur first in the most advanced capitalist countries, e.g. Germany, Britain and the United States. It wasn't supposed to occur first in a backward country like Russia, where a bourgeois-democratic revolution should have happened first.

Should have done this sooner. TPTB know this is a dead movement. Like the man said, "It's the weekend, let's get some cabernet and go protest" Without MSM coverage this is going no where sloooowly. Plus it's getting colder outside and the fair weather protester's will go home. That will leave Lenny & Squiggy , along with the homeless of N.Y. city to protest as they please. It's America for crying out loud, We all know we will not coordinate a movement and be serious about it. Facebook & Twitter ain't gonna get it done. TPTB know what your going to do before you all do. There just letting you blow off some steam and let the police of N.Y. get some much needed crowd control training.

So if the govt is responsible for free trade agreements, then why are these people camped out at Wall Street and not DC? Obama does not want any attention put on him as a source of distress.

I agree there should be a protest in DC also, but not at the goverment facitilies. "K" Street should be the place where people take their charge to. K Street houses the top corporate Lobbyists in this country and those lobbyists are the ones that pull the strings of our puppet goverment officials.

But I also agree that Wall Street is a good starting place. Wall Street has manipulated our countries finances with a legalized gambling formula that has placed our Social Security, homes, jobs and futures into the pile of dung it is now.

I wish all the protesters luck, and hope they are not the first to dissapear into those internment camps that have been built by Halliburton.

well, at least they have TPTBs attention, somewhat.
odd that more ppl are watching rather participating.
not surprising though, without a definitive goal, how can anyone expect an educated, time-oriented, family person to partipate on a path to the unknown ??

a clear path with an atttainable goal is always more enticing than any prize that may follow.
i'm beginning to think this is just a new-age 'pilgrimage' ... one where the participants can one day say ... "Yeah, i stood up and stuck it to the man" ... shame they don't realize it's been done before, unsuccessfully.

They have already stated they plan to squat in abandoned buildings. I surmise that is what they will do when it gets cold.

Looks like they are organizing for DC.

October 2011 is the 10th anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan and the beginning of the 2012 federal austerity budget. It is time to light the spark that sets off a true democratic, nonviolent transition to a world in which people are freed to create just and sustainable solutions. Read more.

heck, we had riots in 1991, they didn't change much for the good, either ... what is your point?
i notice you added ...

We're not at that point yet.
which tells me ... clearly it's planned.

sorry, i do "whine" testing a bit differently and that is ALL this amounts to ... one big Whine-fest, nothing more.
also, Rage Against the Machine had its day ... about 20yrs ago.

curious question: since

Everyone is pissed off.
just who do you think will be the first to be pissed on?

So, are you paid to be a shill or are you just in it for the lulz?

Do you really think that this stuff won't reach DC? Protests are already being planned from what I'm reading. Have fun defending your beloved masters.

huh, got nothing do ya? typical.
problem for you is, i'm old ... i've seen it develop and fail before. i've seen it develop and overwhelm into much of nothing several times over the years and i've seen it get real nasty, real fast and a whole bunch of innocent ppl die ... trouble for me is ... i see it happening all over again.

pointless meanderings with no specific intent except a desire to disturb everything they can (sound familiar?)
it never ends well and a whole big bunch of innocents tend to get swept away in the madness.

i choose a better future, a better today and a stronger foundation.
be well in your endeavors, i've seen many tyrants fall in my day ... soon, so will another, regardless of this protest or its outcome.

that is how the world turns, always has, always will.
and surprisingly, throughout history, guess who is always waiting in the wings to pounce ???

Wall Street ?? that location was a poor choice.
No specific grievance ?? another poor choice.
No plan of action ?? more bad choices
No contingency plan to deal with "agitators/aggressors" ?? sure, leave that to TPTB (you like playing right into their hands i see)
No plan of recovery ?? who do you think will offer one ?

i am no schill, i am not paid for my commentary, i am a concerned American, parent, grandparent, taxpayer, fed up citizen but no fool. Feel free to wade in the waters, most lobsters love the warm climate too, until the water in the pot starts boiling.

The kids in NY are probably bored this weekend so they might feel a bit cool going out to protest. I'm from South Gate C.A and we had a walk out when i was a J.R in high school (South East H.S), about ummmm 07, it was a few schools which walked out (Bell, Garfield, South Gate, Huntington Park) and a few others. Some of the students that were interviewed by some news reporters were asked their purpose on walking out and they responded "we just wanted to get out of class" or other answers along those lines, which were televised. I was embarrassed when my mom called me into her room to look at the news. KIDS THESE DAYS THINK IT'S A "COOL" THING TO DO, PROTESTS AREN'T SUPPOSE TO BE FUN, THIS IS SERIOUS.

How to successfully start a revolution, courtesy of wiki-how::::::::::

step 1

Know your Goal. You are about to dedicate your life to this goal. Decide well and make your decision from the heart. A good question to ask yourself is, “What about the political system I live do I think is wrong? And what kind of system do I want to create for the people of my country?” Remember, the goal you chose the Heart of your revolution.

Step 2

Build Support and Select a Leader: Nothing is going to happen if the only rebels are you and your buddies. This is and important step and the setup for either a successful revolution or a small civilian rebellion flop. a. For the first part of this step you must build support by handing out flyers and pamphlets, by word of mouth and advertisements and through today’s technology. Do whatever it takes to get the word out of your revolution and build support. Once cultivated, your support doesn’t have to meet together or agree on actions or even know each other, but they must be united under a common goal and a common leader.

Step 3

Educate yourself and others about every aspect of the idea of the revolution. Know what and why this fight must happen and how it can be won. Identify the goals and the most efficient means of achieving them without compromise. Appreciate and respect a diversity of tactics. The revolution must be directed towards making things better. This is what is called a "positive vector".

Step 4

Understand that one of the most important aspects of a revolution is that the people are angry. However, the cause for anger ought to be of true convictions, and in their anger there must also be discipline to their cause.

Step 5

Put together intentions which must be very popular among the population. It must aim towards the improvement of certain aspects of society, economics, culture, or any other aspects of a social group. Appreciate and respect a diversity of tactics. As Egypt has shown us, the devil can be in the details, here -- and your revolution can easily be co-opted. Recognize this as a sign that your idea was popular enough to attract attention, and be prepared to overcome attempted splintering.

Step 6

Find like-minded people who are ready for action. Set up a field of communication. You must be led by a charismatic leader in a non-hierarchical group in which all voices are equally heard. If you have even a small group dedicated to the same cause, the charismatic leader can function best as a front man; and should be a humble person.

Step 7

Take Action. This is the most important step because the revolution dies without it. You must take action whether it is a nonviolent protest or a sit-in or a boycott. Your leader must motivate the support and dutifully work day and night to improve your Revolution. The major bump in the road that many past revolutions have faced (especially the ones in India and Libya) is violence from prior powers. The government is not happy to find a rebellion from its people and often opts to crush resistance. In this case, you are urged not to fight back, rather to seek external help. For example, the U.N. reached a helping hand to Libya in dealing with violence and murders. Remember not to push your revolution to war because no matter how well armed or trained you are, you cannot withstand an organized countries military. Last of all, do not let up. Often you may be discouraged by loss or lack of morale but remember, many other countries have revolted and after several losses still overcame overwhelming adversity. Remember, your goal is the heart of your operation, your leader is the mind of the revolution, and the actions you and your support take are the hands of your revolution.

Step 8

Work for collective liberation, because everyone's liberation is tied to each other's. If we are going to be free, we all need to be free.

Step 9

Demonstrate the popularity of the movement to the people of power, legislature, and military. The greater the popularity among the society reduces the likelihood of violence.

Step 10

Realize that a drastic political or social revolution is almost always about freedom. In general, revolutions are about major changes in some aspect of society. A peaceful revolution requires solidarity and agreement.

Some tips on how to be successful:

To be successful, you need to be totally committed; compromise is failure. Keep your eye on the 'big picture.' Don't drown yourself in the details. Take input from others. Revolution can't happen because of just one person, don't be a vigilante. You will benefit no one if you are just attempting to consolidate power or gain recognition only for yourself. There is strength in numbers. The greater the mass and unity of the movement, the better chance of getting demands met.
