Sloan Churman, 29, was born deaf. Until recently, she had never heard the sound of her own voice. But thanks to a hearing implant, Churman was finally given that ability. Watch the powerful video below in which Churman hears herself speaking for the first time.

Very powerful video. I will never take my hearing for granted again.
I'm glad to see we are still developing technology which HELPS people rather than maiming/killing them.

There is a high chance that someone who is deaf from birth will not be able to flex the vocal chords properly due to them not hearing themselves. However, this is not always the case. There are many different variables which must be taken into account.
