The fact that they get to hold the money once it's given to the beneficiary is a whole different ballgame. BoA has one hell of a scam going on within many different states.
The state is taking money from the unemployment fund and letting the bank be the middle man and collect a profit that could be the states profit, could it not?
If it was done differently, couldn't the state do all of this itself, avoiding the middle man altogether?

Thanks for the info on Indiana's situation. Looks like everyone has gotten variations on the same raw deal. Texas and Indiana both allowed ONE free withdrawal per payment, no direct-deposit or transfer options, and Texans lost a year of benefits.

Denmark also has a similar program.

Anyone else?

This is so reprehensible its obscene and gross. So the Gov found a way to unofficially tax those on unemployment insurance and immediately hand this over to their banking friends, not even services. Its outrageous and sickening.
