Creepy answer from CleverBot

I hope that it is okay to post this. I have never heard of cleverbot before I saw this post. I found our conversation to be amusing, confusing, and probably makes no sense at all. But, it said I make a good point...

I've never had a pop-up that asks me how many people I think I have spoken to. I've had one that asks to rate Cleverbot on a scale of 1 to 10 as to how human I think it seems.

i've had a popup in my top left corner, like i get here when i want to do a list or embed, it jus says cleverbot.com needs some input (or something similar) it doesn't specify what it wants though

I hear you Shadow Herder, and I agree. The answers come from a massive database of previous answers that it searches using key words from whatever question you've asked it. Trust me, I'm not disputing that at all.

Others have suggested that it might switch from user to user, so that at one point you may be talking to a human and then it switches again. I don't know, I just agree that it's all mechanical, now that I think about it.

First of all it told me that I wasn't real. After asking it's definition of real, it answered existing. I then asked it if I didn't exist, it said yes.
The it asked me what color the bulldozer outside Arthur's house, I asked Arthur in which country, it replied Germany, and asked where I lived. It then asked for a change of subject, and came out with Don't wanna be an American Idiot, so I asked what year the song was released, it answered 1986...
My reply was Green Day must have done Bruce Springsteen's remake, it then said I was weird and gave me the ttyl response...
I guess it got the weird part right....

I asked that thing who would be president in 2012 last year (or maybe earlier) and it said sarah palin,
wasn't sure if it would come true till she recently stated she wasn't running.

i wouldn't hold much stock if it said sarah palin would be president in 2012...

plus its a crazy robot...

I wonder too. Judging by the misspelling in the response to Hellas questions I would say that is not out of the question. That looked like a simple error typing where 2 letters were switched, an error a computer would not make but a human would.

On the (Cleverbot) website it says:

"Please Note: Cleverbot learns from real people - things it says may seem inappropriate - use with discretion, and at your own risk."

So.....(we the people) are programming (cleverbot)...thus...some of the weird answers.....that about says it all......

I asked Cleverbot if people were really answering the questions...and not a programmed computer.....and the answer was yes....that sometimes real people pose as a programmed computer and answer the questions as they are happening.

It is probably the best chat bot out there though.

It is just a preprogramed response.

As I understand it, it also randomly connects to other people who are also using Cleverbot.

it just spits out answers. it just looks for key words and spits out a common response.

It is not very clever, it just hits gold sometimes.
