AMMAN (Reuters) - Supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad hurled rocks and tomatoes at U.S. ambassador Robert Ford's convoy as he visited an opposition figure in Damascus on Thursday and Syria accused Washington of inciting violence and meddling in its affairs.

Ford, who has angered Syria's rulers by cultivating links with the grassroots opposition, has also visited a protest hot spot in the southern province of Deraa, ignoring a new ban on Western diplomats traveling outside the Damascus area.

Maybe Syria has a point? what was ambassador Robert Ford's plan or goal by meeting with opposition figure in Damascus? was he planning or telling them that america and nato has there backs?

So, if Syria's leader is such a bad guy, why is he allowing US Diplomats to meet, in Damascus, with opposition leaders?

Does that make sense?

First off he wasnt allowing US Diplomats to meet, in Damascus the Diplomat came by himself just like John McCain did in libya even though McCain was overstepping that line John McCain has no rights as a state senator to travel in a torn war country and praise the libyan rebels and by calling them my heroes?
John McCain isnt the President, therefore the senator has no right of intervening, meddling affairs of a country.

As a state senator it is your job to fix the problems or improve the state you were elected in in the first place.

In regards to Mr. McCain perhaps an insight from Council of Foreign Relations might give you that extra bit of information you might be seeking.

Okay....

So your saying the leader of Syria can't control what foreign politicians come to visit?

I thought this guy was some sort of horrible dictator who controlled Syria with an iron fist.
