75 years ago, we had similar theories as ones we ponder today.

What happened to the other Sun, and its circling planet material we do not know. It may still be visible through powerful telescopes, as one of those faint stars which the "red shift" of the spectroscope tells us are receding steadily from our Solar System. We have no means of knowing where to look for this wanderer, for we do not know in which direction it left us.

And that is exactly the uncertain state of affairs with regard to a possible invasion of our peace by another wandering Sun. We do not know which way to look for its possible approach.

This isn't a theory.

They actually tell you a minor planet passed the Earth months ago.

Notice how it refers to 1934 June page 103 and google doesn't have that page available.

What a great old article, thanks for bringing that to our attention! Back then it was pretty much all hypothesis, they didn't have the technology to examine the Ort cloud like we can today or for that matter, distant solar systems. But even in the 60's and 70's this potential "wandering giant" was brought up in mainstream articles.

Cheers - Dave

this is really interesting. to be able to read about a past generation's thoughts and ideas.how they looked at and theorized about something that even today, everyone still discusses and thinks about..."there's nothing new under the sun"

Thanks for posting!

I didn't dig that deep into the article before posting...

Maybe the "minor planet" was a near Earth asteroid? Or, really a planet?

Amazing! Thanks!

Are there still magazines like this available today? With cool experiments for kids and people to try at home?

In regards to the baby planet passing the Earth, there must be some other documentation about it somewhere? No?...

Nice find! It's interesting to observe that a good amount of the general public is under the impression that we know about most objects in our immediate vicinity or threatening to enter it. Clearly there are quite a few objects that we haven't detected until they whizzed right by us. Although science has come a long way and that's great we still don't have a magic radar that shows us all objects on their way or already in our general vicinity as a lot of the general public assumes.

it's true, war after war after war after war.don't we have anything better to do?!?! and while we are busy killing eachother off and driving beautiful animals into extinction.something's gonna come along and give humanity a very rude awakening....we all know it's true...

and what's really sad is that all the time, effort and money we spend on ways to divide and conqueor each other could and should have been spent on creating defenses to save us from the inevitable cosmic disaster...

so ultimately we probably deserve it.because we refuse to put love before genocide and war...

Maybe I am misreading...

But I interrupt that article as... "Nibiru" has already passed us...
Isnt it supposed to be destructive every other pass?
So that means we gotta wait another 3000 or so years?

Damn! I had my fingers crossed too!

Oh well... Interesting Post!

maybe nibiru was just a decoy. a probe sent out to lull us into a false sense of security and just when we all breathe a sigh of relief and think that the danger has passed...the real nemesis will arrive...

Carl Sagan tried to explain the pointlessness of our posturings when he was alive. He recommended an image be taken of the earth from voyager when earth no longer had any distinguishable features and just looked like a pale blue dot. He wanted people to look at this image of an insignificant dot and think about this(only part of what he said), "The aggregate of our joy and suffering thousands of confident religions ideologies and economic doctrines every hunter and forager every hero and coward every creator and destroyer of civilization every king and peasant every young couple in love every mother and father hopeful child inventor and explorer every teacher of morals every corrupt politician every "superstar " every "supreme leader " every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam."

More notably in reply to this post directly is this part of his "speech", "The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds."

If anyone is interested search youtube or google for "pale blue dot" to see the full quote.

Sorry to post the same text as my signature on here, if it's not alright then I accept the removal of my reply but I feel that it's relevant.
