How could a bunch of radio control planes do any damage to either structure? It does not make sense.

Nope. It doesnt make any sense.

Ever fly an RC plane? They're light and delicate. No way an RC plane could carry a payload of any sort unless it was the size of an albatross. This "terrorist" would have had to get his hands on something just as large and as powerful as a military drone to do what he was planning to do.

And allegedly he's a physicist.

Too bad he won't even get a trial, under the law he is now an enemy combatant and will be held indefinitely in a secret prison like Guantanamo Bay. No habeus corpus. No trial. And that's what they can do to you now as well, if they so choose.

This story is biggest bunch BS hype I have seen in a long time!
I've been designing and building RC aircraft for years and can tell you first hand the planes this guy was going to use are in no way capable doing any thing near what they are saying.
First off one was a F-4 Phantom, the other was a F-86 Sabre, with a 44 to 64" wing span. Electric or jet fan no matter these planes have around five minutes or less flight time and almost no payload capability, now if you start to put cameras and or FPV electronics on these things, wing loading goes up and performance goes down.
In order to carry out this plot he would have had to have much more than these components such as explosives, detonator, and even more battery power. Now his plane has way too much wing loading to even take off on it's own, so now he needs to rocket assist it or bungee cord.
Lets say he managed all this, got the thing in the air now he has very little range, so he is within a mile of his target and lets say he actually hit something. The damage would be more like fireworks hitting such hard targets.
What a waste of such an expensive plane!
What a joke how the media is hyping this story as if there is some real danger from RC aircraft. Disgusting really

Referring to the "framing-him to Framingham comparison that's pretty hysterical. Framingham was founded a long time ago, but it's neat to think the rabbithole goes that far. This seems to be a nonstory among the press after a day has passed. source for more information about the guy they busted www.bostonherald.com...

The big question is, The one, noone can answer, FROM WHERE was he going the launch the planes from, what park, or open field close by, the planes would be to heavy to fly with explo. and fuel, and the remote is limited to 1/2 a mile, wifi would have killed the remote flying over the city.
