Problem in there itself.... Christmas Island is in the INDIAN OCEAN between Australia and Indonesia some 9,000km (5,500mi ) from American Samoa

Then why on earth didn't they just say Kiribati (ie the country) ? They didn't call American Samoa by the island name of Tutuila Island - that's one sure way to confuse the Australians....
