The number of coalition deaths is now over 1,100.
US troops account for the bulk of that number with 970.

The number of deaths this month has been higher than most previous months, most likely because of the assault on Najaf.

So far this month, there have been 67 coalition deaths in 26 days an average of 2.58 per day.
Last month, there were 58 coalition deaths in 31 days, an average of 1.87 per day.
In June, the last month before the hand over of power, there were 50 coalition deaths in 30 days. 1.67 per day.

Iraq Coalition Casualties

Hopefully now that the situation in Najaf seems to be calming down, the number of deaths on both sides will decrease.

That's very unfortunate, all that loss of life was unecessary.

well lets all hope that Sistani's peace effort of the last 24 hours is working as well as we are hearing in the media over here in Europe. A cease in actual fighting would be in everyones interests at this point.
