first up, we all know there is a problem with whats going down in Japan...
( that part is official... )

The food supply is obviously under threat...

www.abovetopsecret.com...

and although i thought the rice crop had already been cancelled,...

www.abovetopsecret.com...

it now seems there were some crops planted, and they are now returning very,
VERY high levels of radiation...

in the story below i note they use the term "officials"...
but i think they may mean " spokesperson for..."....

www.emsl.com...

they say they are testing everything from water and soil, to all foodstuffs, etc etc...

+ although it does say that "government officials ordered the tests"...

i wonder if the " officials" will also publish the results...????

this excerpt is from RSOE EDIS...

After finding elevated levels of radiation in rice crops near Fukushima’s damaged nuclear
power plant, government officials ordered more tests on September 24, 2011.

This finding is particularly worrisome, because rice accounts for such a significant portion
of the Japanese diet.

Preliminary tests on rice paddies in the city of Nihonmatsu,
about 35 miles from the Fukushima plant, indicated that crops
contained 500 becquerels per kilogram of radioactive cesium, Japanese officials said.

Under new Japanese regulations, 500 becquerels per kilogram of radioactive cesium
is the highest level of radiation in rice considered safe for consumption.

If results from the next round of testing show such high levels again,
regulators may ban shipments of the rice.

Japan has struggled to keep radiation contaminated food out of the market
since the meltdown at the Fukushima plant, following the March 11, 2011 earthquake.

Radiation has already been discovered in beef, milk, spinach, and tea leaves.

"Following the nuclear disaster in Japan, there has been a dramatic increase
in the number of requests to perform Gamma Spectroscopy analyses [radiation testing],"
states Joseph Frasca, Senior VP at EMSL Analytical, Inc.

"In response, EMSL began accepting food products, soils, vegetation,
and water matrices to test for radiation. Moreover, we are able to process
samples quickly—some in as little as one day."

see: hisz.rsoe.hu...

even with the new " safe" levels having already being raised,
radiation is now exceeding even those limits...

What do you expect?

We all knew this since the first Reports from the "Problems" came in
and i expect it will be even worse!

The Prefecture was the Vegetable Garden of Japan,
it was very famous for the good Water, ergo for Sake and Rice!

I really doubt that anyone will buy Fukushima Rice,
let us hope that the Japanese Farmer Union will be not too stupid
to use the Rice for the Animals!

PS; one question remain for me,
is this tested Rice already polished or not?
Because i read that the majority of the Radiation will be on the Outside!

hi Human...

and thanks for the reply...

not sure about the rice that was tested,
whether it was processed in any way, or fresh off the plant...

BUT: isnt 500 becquerels per kilogram ( radioactive cesium ) , pretty high... either way...???

Japan is dying. hundreds of thousands of people are at risk of this food contamination. anyone who move away from Fukushima is being forced back into radiated areas. The rest of the country look at anyone who did get away from the area as "contaminated" and wont go near them. The contaminated soil is being burned and is going into our atmosphere getting caught into the jet steams raining down radioactive rain on the pacific northwest... During a time of economic crisis when growing a garden might save your life, it might now radiated you!

If Japan can survive two separate aggressively and deliberately dropped American Uranium 235 15,000T and Plutonium 239 22,000T nuclear bombs in the 1940's, and prosper then i'm sure they'll manage now.

Not nice, but they'll manage.

just wait as the radiation works its way up and down the food chain....

sounds like they have a few corrupt officials starting new conspiracies....

as for them having survived two atomic bombs.... a broken plant is different then a bomb... the plant continually releases....

Of course they're publishing the results. That's how the media gets the stories about contaminated food.

The complete foodstuff data sets for every day since testing began (March 19th) can be found here: www.maff.go.jp...

But we should not forget that the exact same Government Department is also responsible
for the Disaster in F'Shima, they failed to control the Plant and failed to stick on the Rules!

Why do we should believe them?

I want to see a few independent Organizations with the ability to check our Food!

I wonder what the 'normal' background levels of radiation were before all of the nuclear bomb tests and the construction of nuclear power plants. I also wonder what the level of background radiation might be in a couple of decades, if we survive that long?

Hmmm, in between 0.025uSv/h and up to 0.500 uSv/h in average!
Mountainous Regions have a higher Radiation than the Lowlands.

Afir the highest Background Radiation is in Iran!

Have a read:www.physics.isu.edu...

I would rather read a report not funded by the state or federal government. Unless Idaho State University is a private university and not subsidised by the government?

In this case visit the Pages from Caldicott or Busby,
but i really doubt them

that is a good question... (s)

does anyone know the answers or care to dig it out for us...

Do these concerns affect the production of shiritaki noodles?

i dont know shiritake noodles
but the shiritake funghi!

mushrooms are very strange because they love
radiation and absorb a lot even in a safe
environment like a funghi house!

the best is to avoid them until there is a clarification!
