As I know most Mauser owners have the Karabiner 98 or K98 or the M48. As I have the gew 98, I was wondering if anyone else has one on here and what loads if any do they load for it. I like the IMR-4895 power, and was going to start with a bullet weight between 175-220 grain jacketed. I have worked many rifle loads up in the pass, but this rifle was made in 1917 so just don't want to damage it(or me)

In the past I've used IMR 3031 and loaded everything from 125gr to 220gr and I must say recoil on same loads between 150gr and 220gr is substantial! My recommendation would be to start with less bullet mass.

Well lets see what load data I can pull out of me A....

9.3x62 Mauser

10 loads available in 9.3x62 Mauser with powder equal "IMR 4895". Click on LoadID to show all the details for the given load.
(Sorted by Bullet and then by Bullet weight)
The scatter chart shows velocity vs. bullet weight, with IMR 4895. Hold the mouse over a dot to see velocity/bullet weight values.

Went quicker than I thought

8x57 JS

7 loads available in 8x57 JS with powder equal "IMR 4895". Click on LoadID to show all the details for the given load.

Same web site
their load data only goes to 175 grain... but with their load data you can work up a load for the 200 gr..

Thanks DB, One had a listing with the Sierra 200 gr HPBT. I have always been a fan of Sierra bullets! I use 130gr sierra match grade for my 7mm Rem. Mag. Nice groups at 100 yards moving about 3000 fps..
