CHILE'S Supreme Court today stripped General Augusto Pinochet of immunity from prosecution, paving the way for a possible trial for the former Chilean dictator on charges of human rights abuses.

The court voted nine to eight to lift the immunity granted the 88-year-old former president, a court spokesman said.

I hope what happens next will bring some closure to families who suffered under this dictator.

I wish they could take Kissinger down with him.

He actively opposed the democratically elected Leader Allennde and then actively endorsed and funded Pinochet, even after the details of his atrocities had been revealed. He made the comment
"But I think we should understand our policy--that however unpleasant they act, the [military] government is better for us than Allende was."

And, "I think the consequences could be very serious, if we cut them off from military aid,"

That was the attitude back then.
Dictators who abuse their population are not as bad as Socialists.
