the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, which in a Request for Proposals filed to companies that are Fed vendors, is requesting the creation of a "Social Listening Platform" whose function is to "gather data from various social media outlets and news sources." It will "monitor billions of conversations and generate text analytics based on predefined criteria." "The solution must be able to gather data from the primary social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Forums and YouTube. Anyone think this does not already exist for other agencies?

Like NASA and NRO satellites, where Hubble pointed up and a sister satellite pointed down?

I'm getting so tired of the government and it's private armies trying to control and influence every single thing that the people of the US do.
"The Fed" does not need this capability. What they need to do is dissolve and get the hell out of our lives.

I thought this all was expected.

Just sayin.......

Surely no one expected the new boss to be different from the old boss, except that he would be more of a boss?

Oh, I forgot, Hope and Change and stuff.

And next up, either the democrat party or the republican party has control, and it all gets worse, or one party has some kind of control, but blames all the ills upon the minority party.......

but it's all the same...

and it all gets worse......

until.............

Not only is it all the same, but it all gets the same too.

If you have a blog and are not in their network of media outlets, you soon will be. The plan mentioned in the OP has the Fed reaching out to bloggers with dissenting opinions. "Reaching out"...sounds like what stormtroopers would do in 1984, huh?

I guess the trick is to keep your blog views to only 100 or so a day.
