It seems to me that Occupy Wall Street has became a non news event for the western mainstream news networks with the likes of CNN,BBC,FOX,ABC,CBC,MSNBC,NBC,PBS, and finally al jazeera.

Over 80 people arrested at the protest just today

Yahoo had guts to report it
From the Yahoo site the link i posted

This is the second week of protests on Wall Street and it gets this little of attention by the media? This is a major story. The screamers against national health care got more coverage. This is way more important in what it says about our country, our government, our monetary system regardless of how you feel about the actual protesters or your political views.

The only "freedom" left in America today is the "freedom" to do what you're told to do by the rich. Step out of line and they'll smack you back down.

I notice now how the fat rich pig Michael Moore is talking about the Occupy Wall Street protest?
is that fat pig Michael Moore just seeking more media attention?

source

Moore encourages the protests? maybe Michael Moore should just shut the hell up, after all he is an elite

Didnt Michael Moore on CNN interview said he supports obama?
i dont think the people protesting at the wall street need his support from a rich obama suppoter.

So now back on point, why arent the media reporting on these protests? people were getting arrested and even some called out abuses by the new york police.

And also why Michael Moore talking about the protests? like as if he gives a dam thing about normal people suffering, i am just guessing the fat rich boy is just seeking some media attention so ATS what you think of this?

Edited interesting comment on that site about moore

Answer me this, where do you suppose Mr. Moore has his millions? He's got a net worth of about $50 million, where is it? In a mattress? While he's busy deriding Wall Street, how much you wanna bet his portfolio is actually managed by Wall street firms? Do you think he has any money in banks? Of course he does, and he uses the very institutions to make money that he is bashing, so how do you libs square that circle? How can you take him seriously when he does one thing and preaches another? Tax breaks to make movies ring a bell???

Why do you think?

I would say it's because the media don't want to show footage of police macing young peaceful protesters in the face.
They don't want to encourage young people coming to the area and increasing the size of the protest.

Yet according to some on ATS the protesters are "useful idiots" protesting for bigger government and more socialism, so surely the left wing Liberal media would be all over this, maybe even joining in with the protests?

yahoo probably felt it had to cover its a$$ after the whole email debacle.

this situation is seriously unbelievable. it's all over facebook and teh internets and a protest like this should be the ongoing lead story for every american news source right now, i think. very scary. it's like they want us to know that they'll do what they want and you can go to hell. i am glad to see the protesters are not losing heart.

keith olberman was good enough to report on the non-reporting.

You mean like this CNN ...
Dozens arrested in 8th day of 'Occupy Wall Street' protests

and this MSNBC

and this ABC

Yet again, a finding that despite people like you crying "coverup", its reported as widely as a non-event should be.
BTW, have they figured out what the hell it is they stand for, yet?

Wake Up
- Rage Against The Machine

...Movements come and movements go
Leaders speak, movements cease
When their heads are flown
'Cause all these punks
Got bullets in their heads
Departments of police, the judges, the feds
Networks at work, keepin' people calm
You know they went after King
When he spoke out on Vietnam
He turned the power to the have-nots
And then came the shot...

you guys are right, it's all over the internet. but people like my mom (who is in her 70s) and my wife's mom (who's in her 60s) don't know or believe that any protest is happening in NY because it's not on tv.

there's generations of folks who don't get their news from the nets.

Honestly,
the day we think that important current issues and news need to be covered by the media is to count on the very enemy we seek to defeat. The DOW has been a roller coaster, (primarily one going straight down) all week long. Can anyone really say that these Americans were not able to convey thier message by standing strong...Regardless of what the TELEVISION chose to cover?

Protests in Egypt and Tunisia were plastered all over tv and the internet if you recall. Why is it then when we have protests here there is not much to say about it by the media?

Because, they're scared to death.

they are the corporate media and therefore are not on the side of the people, thats why i would have thought that was explicting obvious

it depends what the protest is about for such a noble cause as protesting evil criminal bankers on their doorstep then the last thing the evil criminal bankers want is for the protest to turn sour on national tv the people who didnt go would see it as an attack on the people by evil criminal bankers.

now any other protest such as the g20 the police will push cars in for you to burn for the cammeras so they can say hey look at these hooligans trying to stop a legitimate global commitee from doing its job we must stop these fringe groups for the good of the peacefull people and the world

I don't think they are scared.
I see it as them keeping the masses uninformed,
and showing the informed their power over the masses ( like a weak scare tactic).
I cant belive W.B.B.C. protests get more air time than this its
o excuse me sickining.

I think because in Egypt and Tunisia there was death and violence. That's what sells. If the Wall Street protestors start doing more than standing in the middle of the street blocking traffic, they'll make the news and sell copies.

Why would the corporate media not report on people protesting corporations and filthy rich businessmen? Gee, I don't know, why didn't Dick Cheney publically condemn the wars in the Middle East? Why doesn't the Pope get in front of a crowd and scorn child molestors?

They will not televise civil unrest and protests in America, but they will gladly televise the events of the "Arab Spring".

I mean, they're really not even trying to maintain the illusion anymore. That's how you know that the SHTF moment is coming sooner than later.

Because they are bought and paid for.

It should be on TV 24/7 on Fox, CNN, MSNBC...

Hell even ``the most trusted person in America`` John Stewart isn't talking about it, even if it's a few hundred meters from his studio.

Should be on every newspaper at least of NY on the front page. It should be treated like the Egyptian revolution was treated.

Pathetic.
