Ive always had great better then perfect eye sight my whole life but my eyes are very sensitive to light

in elementary school till middle school i wore a hat everyday in high school i switched to sunglasses an for the last 15 years ive always had to where them when ever i went outside
if i forgot my sunglasses it was not totally unbearable, but in the last 2 year its become a different story,
its like the sun is brighter or something because Ive noticed a difference as i can barely look towards or in the direction of it and cannot be outside without my sunglasses

i played college baseball 5 years ago and even 10 years ago when i still played pony and high school baseball i would take them off to hit or if i was catching whatever

I golfed yesterday with my dad tee time was 7:07 i played the first 6 holes and then the sun came out from the trees and clouds it was intense
i couldn't see where the ball i hit went and had trouble even with my glasses on if i hit towards the sun

i can see further a night then i could on the golf course during the day

Optomotry is a scam. The longer you wear glasses/contacts the more dependant your eyes become on them, and the weaker they get. I have been wearing contacts since about 3rd grade and my perscription has only gotten worse, I am now -7.5 in each eye. There is a REASON why schools test for myopia as early as 1st grade....at any sign of myopia they will instantly slap glasses on them and the eye doctors/glasses and contact companies make money.

The reason why some become myopic and some don't is the way we use our eyes. Some people strain their eyes when reading, these people will zoom in on every word and examine it. This puts strain on the eyes and pushes the eye forward causing near sightedness While the other people will relax their eyes and gloss over the words.

Soldiers coming back from vietnam often complained about not being able to see close up. This is do to straining their eyes to see far away all the time, thus their eyes adjusted to being able to see better far away, whilst their nearsighted vision suffered.

I would love to go without glasses and contacts for a few years to fix my vision but it's too late for me, I've become dependent on them for everything. Throw away your glasses while you still can!!

If that's true, then I too am too far gone to just get rid of my glasses.

I am too, unless I was washed up on a tropical island without them. Funny thing is, if that ever happened, I could just slap together a pair of leaf glasses

I am much the same. As a kid I wore glasses and then contacts. After a 6 month supply of contacts were used and I was unable to afford new ones I just went without. I was always squinting and most people took it as a sign of aggression or anger since I had a "mean look" on my face.

It has been about 10-12 years since then and although my eyesight has not improved I do not squint as much as I used to, if ever.

I honestly believe it was more of a learned dependancy. Since I had wore glasses and contacts for so long, when I was not wearing them I was not used to the lack of eyesight and squinted to compensate. Over the years I have become more accustomed to living with the poor eyesight and I rarely find myself squinting.

The same is most likely true for you.

It is doubtful your eyesight has actually improved. You have more than likely become accustomed to having the poor eyesight and not having to rely on glasses to see well. As a test, wear glasses for 6 months and then stop. I'm sure you will be squinting again for some period of time as you would have grown accustomed to having better eyesight. As your mind learns to deal with the loss of the glasses, your squinting would likely decrease.

That was actually pretty cool and I tried it myself with a piece of paper to test the results.

The pinhole effect works much like squinting does. As you squint you focus your eyesight in a manner similar to the pinhole.

I would do something similar in school before I had glasses. If I needed to read something at a distance I would place my finger on the outside corners of my eyelids and slightly pull away towards my ear. The effect is much the same as squinting, except I would end up with almost the same vision I had when I would later get glasses.
