Download Stellarium and then change the location, once installed, to your location. You can go forward and back
in time and also see what is presently in your sky...this is the best way to find what it is.
I've noticed Jupiter has a reddish hue to it as it rises, then it clears up to the light yellowish colour.

You can't see Saturn against the Sun. That's impossible. Venus won't pass in front of the Sun for about a year. That happens in a 200+ year cycle with 2 events 8 years apart. The last was in 2004 which I saw and the next is in 2012.
