Desal plants in my opinion aren't the way to go. I reckon we should be recycling a lot more. Lots of storm water going out to sea would be a good place to start especially for melbournians.

Also, why has that ranga been able to keep her job? She is no better than the RUDdy idiot she replaced.
Don't get me started on the greens, wtf do they really stand for.

desal is one idea.
Farmers choosing the right crops for the country is a far better idea.

let someone else grow the cotton for example, one of the most water intensive crops on the planet, also rice uses a lot as well.

unfortunately our water is wasted a vast majority of the time from having nice and shiny cars and well watered paths.

Australia most certainly does matter, and it's a novel idea of yours to initiate the prospect of a dedicated "Aussie" Thread/Forum.

As for desalination, water security became a major issue throughout the 06' to 08' period of the drought - in South East Queensland, combined dam levels dropped to alarming levels well below 20% which initiated the then Water Emergency Regulations. Almost 1.5 Billion was spent on the Tugun DeSal plant with plans for another 4 plants to be completed by the late 2020's after the Traverston Crossing Dam development plan was knocked back on Eco' grounds.

As it stands now, SEQ dams are 90% full thanks to our January floods, and the DeSal plants have been shelved.

A shadey group called Urban Utilities now rips us off for our water which may well be a precurser to the privatisation of our water supply.

We got to lay overdoing the ockerism that disappeared years ago. Too much of that makes us look hick, silly and immature.

If want to retain some ockerism because it part of our heritage than fine but lets not over do it.

Every Australia day I see far too many people running around waving Australian flags but talking American. If we want to retain our identify we have to do something about this trend. Why do Aussies regard things American as superior to things Australian anyway?

Just listen around you'll know what I mean. Instead of going heavy on the ockerism why don’t we go heavy on having an identity that does not include becoming American or worse still, a Bitza race?

we ARE a bitza race/country anyway, or 'mongrel' if you like....what's your point?
I think we have an incredibly hard time being patriotic when we're so young a country I don't understand your dissing at all.
Are we not allowed to be ockerish? ( a term we northerners usually reserve for southerners)
We do do things differently, how would YOU like us to be?

The issue many Australians don't realise it that we too are simply another branch of the rothschilds bankers. Do you really think they'd go to the amount of trouble they did in America to control the country over centuries and just forget Australia? The recent privatisation of all of our government assets was done on the advice of who? you guessed it one of the key advisors on this issue was the then head of rothschild Australia at one point a large percentage of rothschild annual earning was made up of Australian assets. They've bought large percentages of Australia's infrastructure and control this country like a chessboard just as they do in America it was simply easier in Australia due to us being a member of the commonwealth and Australian politicians being a bunch of scum sucking parasites only interested in furthering their own bank accounts.

i met people from the caribbeans and South America who told me they consider Canadians to be imitation Americans.
they look, talk the same, same houses, cars, etc, but claim not to be Americans, so they must be imitations.

this is what you have to look forward to.

As a Canadian I had to look up what an ocker was. Ha

I'd say good on ya. Any thing that helps distinguish you from America (and the rest of the world) is good; although sometimes ocker does look a little red-neck.
But fear not. I do understand the difference.

The only thing I would suggest is not to let the pride of one's own state, class, politics or maybe even race get too strong. A little adds interest to life but serious division just hurts everybody.

To these sensitive
Canadian ears all that name calling back and forth sounds nasty, but I suppose its all bark and little bite. At least I hope so.

The NWO is Australia is already in progress. Queensland has become a private company and each of its inhabitance is an asset and property of that company. The rest of the country is following suit with this kind of government framework.

We are becoming a socialist nanny state. The two party preferred system ensures that one of the two sock puppets there to placate us with a false dichotomy of leadership makes most people feel like their team is either in power or would do it better.

Most people are obsessed with sports and not at all interested in religion or politics and anybody discussing those topics out of their artificial forums is a social outcast.

From birth we are monitored by the social system. Nurses must check on your baby now till they are ready for school.

Double incomes are needed just to get by so kids are placed in childcare from the earliest of age. They are feeding breakfast to kids at schools and most kids go to after school sports. The family is being totally eroded. The education system creates good little workers.

Once at work your a social outcast if you don't drink your sedative(booze) and follow sports etc. Everybody is bombarded with the need for unattainable or useless things(such as new cars, fashion, gadgets, etc) and taught that do whats right for you, rather than whats actually right. Those who have been sucked into this belief system will not help anybody else out because its not in their own interest.

On the radio the other night callers where ringing in to tell what they thought somebody should do who 'was thinking about breaking up with her boyfriend because he has been diagnosed with some possible life ending illness' all they said was pretty much, do whats right for you. What the hell, everybody knows the right thing to do. They are all just looking for an excuse to be selfish. This is what the media and the education system bombards people with from birth.

When your finished working, if you don't have somebody to look after you (which is less and less people as described above), at the first sign of illness, you are put into a retirement care facility and everything you own is taken from you to pay for your care(I know a guy with a 1.5 million dollar farm that was taken from him to live in aged care facility, whilst people getting the same room space and treatment for free in the same place), where you will get fed the cheapest and minimal food and be sitting in your own filth for an hour before somebody bothers to come take you to the toilet.

This is where we are heading if we are not already there. I could go on. Im sure there are plenty of subjects to draw from that little rant.

The biggest threat to Australia today are not foreign ownership and our politicians kissing up to the arses of the Americans......

the biggest threat to our country is the breakdown and deterioration of family values and moral decay in this country.

This applies to all Western nations including Australia:

familyvaluesandmorality.blogspot.com...

Teenagers and sexual behaviour:

www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au...

Teenagers and alcohol; thanks to our liberal mindset politicians, the legal drinking age in Australia is 18 years of age however an underage child can legally drink alcohol at home or that of a friend:

Child abuse and neglect in Australia.....and this is only part of the cases reported:

Domestic violence in Australia:

Sexualizing of young girls in the media...and fashionworld:

the divide between Church and religious followers against the growing number of homosexuals:

Do I need to add more???

Hehe yes mate, we Aussies are jokers for the most part. Insulting each other is part of the joke.

Believe me, you'll know when we are being serious.

Yep, don't I know it. With all the sport fanatics in this country I feel like an outcast if I speak out against it.

I've been meaning to make a thread on that very subject actually....I'll get around to it soon enough.

Yep, or bring in the surfing tax. haha

I live in Qld, just came from Vic. The water is bad here. Some friends just came from Swan Hill and said that earlier this year or late last yr, about 8 months ago, fluoride was dumped into the water supply. Apparently it was a mistake, because they over-fluoridated, then under-fluoridated to achieve some sort of balance. It's ludicrous, because there is no national standard for 'fluoridation levels' here in Australia, as far as Ive heard. After that poison dump, the entire town of Swan Hill experienced a spate of disease, lowered immune systems, and sickness and it is still continuing.

It's just as bad in qld.

Not only that, I can taste the chlorine... so gross.

The politicians here are terrible. Rudd was alright.
There is no room for gillard here.
