I've seen it many times, and have almost succumbed to it myself.

I know that many of us are proud of our weapons/toys/BOBs, what have you. But posting pics (whether true or not) and inventory list of what you personally have makes you a target. Especially if you are the type that says he has a homestead in the hills or a basement bunker. That makes you a static target and easier to find.

Geeks (and I say that with respect) can track IP addy’s and if they’re really good, translate them into actual addresses.

I know, there are those out there who will say, “You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.”

Well folks, there are those out there who say to themselves, “I can arrange that.”

DaddyBare,,Wo0kiEE, jibeho and many others have posted relevant info on survival and bless them for their efforts.

Many of these skills will be needed and they do take practice, and besides, they're usually fun too..

But for Gods sake, stop showing off your hardware and ammo count. You’re making yourself a target. If not from the Feds, but other more nefarious individuals as well.

I always like using the term nefarious.

Yes, making yourself the target for bigger sharks is a bad deal, but advertising that you're a small piranha keeps the smaller sharks away.

Maybe if these people are sharing all that information
with people they know...

Over the internet I think is a much safer
to talk about your tactical gear then
with someone you think is your *friend*
because everyone with a family will be
in survival mode..

The odds of someone getting your IP address
and finding your actual local is slim to known..

Maybe a general location like your city but not a pin point home address.

You would have to work with the ISP company.

THE isp COMAPANIES will not talk to you without security codes
so calling them and trying to scam it out is slim to none now a days..

Be more careful about the people you talk to actually in person
then over the net..

It's not the size that matters...
it's what you do with it

Look as a Lic gun smith I know I'm on dozens of lists... My CCW adds several more lists
In fact I'm seriously thinking about opening a new store "Black Guns R us" or something like that.... now were talking top of the list...

but he's right.... I know I'm a target... and act accordingly...
Better to hide your skills and toys...

BTW the picture is of a S&W model 460xvr from the Performance Shop S&W's custom side... If only I had the $1500 to buy one...sighs

us geeks are great at tracking ips, not so good at removing nut jobs with fire-arms from their underground bases.

man alive sir! i totally agree with your opinion. i don't own a 'real' gun,but i have a .22 calibure pellet gun!
i've trained in survival, and not once was i taught to put a 2 inch hole in my dinner with a firearm. snares and traps work just fine, plus i don't have to sit there for hours, getting drunk, waiting to shoot/kill anything! i come back the next day and pick up my dinner!
god i know i'm leaving myself so open for attack! i got big shoulders! i'll take it!

they can but they prefer you start with one of their "Performance" modelsPerfo rmance Center guns originate from standard designs or are created from the ground up. From hand-cutting and fitting to fine tuning for precision, these firearms are top performers. Products from the Performance Center are the ultimate expression of old-world craftsmanship blended with modern technology.
