Looks like bringing an Official Secrets Act backfired on Met, as it should have. They should give those journalists a medal, and further investigate Murdoch's empire. Only a naive person could think that neither father, nor son, had no knowledge of on-going huge operation. To just drop any personal charges against them is outrageous.

And they will have to answer to the committee, dealing with the phone hacking scandals over, this issue.

I hope they are taking to task over this, intrusion into the freedom off the press.

They should never be allowed to use the secrets act to force anyone to give up their sources.

But I find it a farce that the meeting will be held behind closed doors. I will be writing to MP asking the reasons for this.
