Satellites as large as UARS re-enter Earth's atmosphere about once a year

Linky

Why is UARS getting so much attention?? If this happens "about once a year" then you could say that it is a regular occurance, I can't say that I have heard of any other object getting as much attention as this apart from when MIR came down of course.
Maybe I just haven't taken notice over the years, but UARS really does seem to be getting a lot of attention!!
Wonder why?????

I think its just because the usually very precise NASA, dont know somthing about their kit they probably should thats all.

One comes down every 12 months but they are "in control" and therefore the landing spot is easily predicted.

I think that this Satellite crash is getting so much attention because it fulfills the Hopi Indian prophecy of "a heavenly dwelling place crashing on Earth..."

I'm wondering what will happen if a part of this thing hits an important building or kills someone in another country.. maybe Iran or China ... They probably wouldn't like us too much for that.
